About how thin did you get the red cedar down to in order to have it bend so easily? I just tried with maybe 3/64th of an inch and it was definitely snapping…

I believe this was around that same thickness. The most important thing is that the water is very hot. Basically boiling

Is this the same grid pattern as asa no ha? I would love to try this. How long are the bent pieces compared to the sides on the triangle? Thx

This is a standard grid that's used for a lot of different patterns, including asanoha. Asanoha can also be made in a square grid. I believe the length is just a little longer than the sides of the triangle. I can't remember exactly but I'd suggest to try different lengths because it slightly changes the overall look. Some people like it more open and others more closed

Thx. Are you using hot water ? Also what’s the radius of the jig you using to round the pieces? Sorry for all the questions lol just can find any other info on this pattern online

No worries about all the questions. I'm happy to help. The radius is about 3/4" but it doesn't really matter all that much as there will be some spring back. And yes, the water needs to be very hot! I broke a few pieces in the beginning because the water wasn't hot enough. Let them soak in the water for a bit before bending

Thx ok cool. I’ll ask a few more lol. So your putting a 30 degree edge on each side of every where they meet on the outsides? You soak the pieces pend them and put them into the grid wet? Do you wit for them to dry and take them out and add glue?

There's a 30° bevel on one face on both ends of the strips. You should bend them and hold them on the form for a little bit. Yes, they go into the grid wet. After they dry, you can take them out and glue them if you'd like
