There's something fun about digging through your old games, or old artwork (dungeons/ character sheets/ notes)... I love doing that from time to time. This vid is a great example of kicking back, rolling some dice, jotting things down on scraps of paper, and letting imagination take over for a time. Good times! 🤓

Great video. That is very close to what I did to start my D&D BX Marenburg campaign. I just wanted to roll some dice and do an old-school D&D crawl. No character backgrounds and no campaign details. Start at the entrance of the dungeon. But along the way, in the dungeon, it became a 'real' campaign when I slowly discovered what was a stake (fake demon cult, hostages, silver mine and the thief guild machinations.)

Hello! Great thanks for sharing this awesome gameplay with us!) Could you possibly please advice some more tools with random tables ( for wilderness exploration, towns, dungeons) for moving a story, if there are any you like most besides single sheet adventure? Thnx :)
@CavernadoLekkis Жыл бұрын
Sure. There are some videos here in the channel about this topic. 1. Scarlet Heroes has amazing tables and rules that fit in any OSR game. 2. The Referees Guide from the Heroes of Adventure system (available for free on itch.io) has A LOT of useful tables. 3. The Perilous Wilds is great to create dungeons and generate overland travel encounters and points of interest. 4. Maze Rats, another good source. 5. There are several oracles that can support you as well such as One Page Solo Engine, MUNE and Mythic GME.

Hello, I didn't know how those dungeon cards were used, now I have it clear. a question, on the monster Lich page 102, it says that it has hit dice = 6, does it mean I have to roll 6 times the d6 die (example 4, 6, 5, 3, 2, 3 = 23, Hit dice = 23?) or how can it be understood? Can you explain to me please. Thanks for the video and for your response.
@CavernadoLekkis Жыл бұрын
Exactly. The cards give us some examples. But you could use the rule book. In case of WhiteBox, 1 HD is 1D6, however, in BFRPG 1HD is 1D8.

Thieves doesn't get the option to find traps and/or secret doors?
@CavernadoLekkis7 ай бұрын
They do! Did I do something wrong? Probably, I did not notice. Forgive my old mind. 😅

@@CavernadoLekkis You had just gone into the 1st rm on r and there was both a secret door and a pit trap. The person checking was the dwarf (1-2 on d6 I think) and rolled a 6. Now I am confused as to who is who, but I thought you said the Cleric did the check. With the fail you said nobody could check. Now perhaps I miss heard or confused people, but I think that's what happened. I have to admit that your constant 'explaining' is more than a bit distracting to me, so I could have confused who made the check. You have a real, nice, voice to listen to. You enunciat and speak at understandable pace, yet not too slow, however you, in my opinion, talk too much about not important stuff. You get the story going and BRRRRIP(record needle dragged across the record sound) you stop everything and explain in nauseating, detail your thinking and why you are doing stuff... rinse and repeat. When you do this 8+ times I QUIETLY ask- "who cares? It is your game, keep playing!" Now to be sure, there are good reasons for some of it, but must you stop the whole game to explain EVERYTHING? AT THAT MOMENT??? Could you not make a note of action/time stamp(ish) (when it happened so we can go back should we desire, might be a better way to articulate that thought) and not interrupt the flow? I am a subscriber and continue to listen.

@MsGorteck Thanks for the feedback. As far as the secret door is concerned, dwarves are good at spotting traps, slanting passages, and construction while underground (1-4 on a d6 when searching, 1-2 on a d6 if just passing by). Therefore, I've decided to roll with the dwarf cleric. 😅 I could roll with all party members, but usually, I just allow one party member to do it. I got good feedback on the explanations that I give in my videos. I'm not a good storyteller, and I like to show how I came up with that thought. 😅 I apologize if this annoys you. Perhaps I overdid it.

@@CavernadoLekkis your game your show, all good. Am curious, do thieves get equal or better chance to spot traps than dwarves?
@CavernadoLekkis7 ай бұрын
@MsGorteck Thieves have the Thievery ability that covers: traps, sneak, locks and so on. A level 1 Thief has 2 in 6 on this ability and it increases as they get more levels. However, keep in mind that dwarves are limited to underground environments.

Cool! Few comments from my side: Wouldn't it be simpler just playing Four Against the Darkness? 😅 It would be great to elaborate more about their goal. Who hired the PCs? Who or What is this monster? What is this book?
@CavernadoLekkis Жыл бұрын
I could have played 4AD, D100 or any other dungeon crawler, but I wanted to play as in the "good old days". 😅 I know myself, if I start to elaborate too much about the goal, reason and etc... it would take a lot of time to just start it. 🤣
