9:50 There is nothing missing in this moment. I am breathing, listening, seeing and feeling alive. But then your mind habitually tells you it's not fine. Something is missing. Then unhappiness arises as you argue with what is in your mind. 🦋🦋🦋💖💖💖 Meditation is learning to align internally with the present moment. There is heightened state of alertness. Thanks Eckhart. 2 September 2023.🦆🦆🦆🐌🐌🐌🌷🌷🌷🌷🌻🌻🌻🌲🌲

THIS is the reason why I immediately loved - love at first sight 🤣- these teachings, they don't ask you to follow particular techniques (which in any case by my nature I can never follow 😥 I always have to do it my way😂) or to do this or that: they get to the plain and simple TRUTH with no frills and promises, as the truth IS. To be present.❤️ We can choose it in any place, in any situation, at any time... It is the freedom of TRUTH❤️. So grateful 💓🙏✨

I keep forgetting the power of now, and then my suffering increases steadily until I am forced back towards your teaching. Trying to be more present because my mind is full of negative emotions, self judgement, worrying etc. A lot of suffering, purely phantoms in my mind! Nothing is happening in the now, I'm just sitting on a cushion, looking at a candle, listening to the faint noises of the city outside and the voice of Eckhart. In this moment, what is lacking?

Do you practice a formal meditation? That's really key. PoN is inspirational; pointings that you can relate to. But, mindfulness meditation ( _on the present moment,_ mindfulness is a fad now. There's a lot of variations out there, which may be helpful in their own way. But, mindfulness comes from vipassana meditation in buddhism. And it's about the present moment, observing your experience in the moment; your senses which include your mind, your thoughts, not identifying with thoughts as they arise) develops a familiarity or "default mode" of being "there" all the time (or easily recognize you've drifted into your thoughts, identifying with them too mch). It's like you've practiced for decades the default-mode of identifying with your thoughts without even realizing you're doing it. You don't have another mode to compare to. All you know is this. Mindfulness on the present moment (meditation) practices a different mode. It's more about familiarizing with what it's like to not identify with thoughts. The more you familiarze, the more you can be there all the time without formal meditation (ideal circumstances). It takes time, practice, familiarity to make that more of the default mode. What worked for me is _Guided Mindfulness Meditation on the Present Moment. Be Here Now. (MindfulPeace)."_ It's not mine; I'm sure there's others out there that are good. (But, like I said, there's been a trend toward "mindfulness for social anxiety. Mindfulness for success at wok. Mindfulness for pet owners." :) Those could be useful. But, the core of mindfulness is attending to yourself, your experience, your mind, in the moment. Less thinking, more being the observer of the thinker -- without fighting it, judging it. Just observing and choosing to direct your attention away from it. Don't give it space. Don't attach to it.).

Theravada Buddhism... and perfect teachers by the time... as a person experienced traumatic childhood... sitting still was all times a tortur... BUT... I practiced everything else... and to sink in the moment... forget about but I see just see... because of this no 8interpretation necassary... well I´m thankfully often in that mood... state of awareness... it safes me... and now... YOU... gave me the missing link... what tradional teaching are also mentioning but never in these words... so nearby the restless times we are in... the thruth, that I´m not often sit still for an hour or so... necause my body will send pain... after a few seconds... as it does since years... and the self jugement that I´m not praticing right... all gone... I´m doing well no cause for fear... just go on and learn more... you ae so alive and we all need your service so urgently... dankeschön (:)

This is strikingly similar to a meditation I do though no one taught me it. It was just given to me directly from Spirit. Also I learned that if I get so present I start to lose self identity/ body identity I start to blend with Source and then I feel a gratitude that is so beyond… even if I’m having a crappy day or I’m in pain my personal story does not take away from the sheer beauty and perfection of this now moment. ❤

Hi Eckhart. Good to see you again sir. I've been really struggling lately with identifying with thought and being stuck in the cycle of also identying myself based on my interactions with others. Tonight I have been _really_ attending myself to the present moment and am reminded of something I already knew, but have seem to lost somewhere along the way. I seem to never understand exactly how much I've been thinking until I really pay attention to the thoughts and connect to the the present moment. It's like a trance I've been stuck in and now I find myself frustrated to have let it come to this point. I've been anxious, albeit to some varying degree or another, and this leads to more thinking. It's truly maddening but I feel hopeful and excited to reconnect with the present moment again. Why are thoughts so sneaky? Why do they seem so much like _me?_ They seem like they are a _part_ of me. What are they, if not me?

I suffer from social anxiety. This anxiety has been persisting for nearly 2 decades. I started meditation about a year ago which seems to be helping. There are moments my mind is serene. This increases my confidence. However, these moments are short-lived. I keep reverting to my old ways of thinking. I'm becoming more and more confused with each passing day. Please can you help me deal with my social anxiety?

@Paul, eft-tapping helped me. The 2nd video in my playlist is the one that I followed. It looks/sounds weird, but "autosuggestion" has been a known thing for over 100 years (look up Emile Coue who had half his patients recite, "every day, in every way, I'm getting better & better." They really did. It's been studied and proven to be real. I think eft/tapping is operating upon that plus the "emphasis" of tapping it into yourself. The chakra stuff could be real too, but I wouldn't care about that. Just the emphasized autosuggestion does work. It doesn't hurt to try what he does. I think it's consistent with awakening because you're changing your narrative (which is an improvement if you find you can't escape your narrative). Also, I'm curious if you're judgmental? Looking back on myself, what I've definitely noticed (not sure I could have back when) is that my anxiety was about being judged by people. I can control the perceptions of 1-2 people, but 6 or more? Panic attack. I was very controlling & assumed people would see something bad in me that I wouldn't be able to hide from that many people at the same time. A fear of loss of control. Moreover, I was _projecting._ If I were watching someone else (speak publicly, whatever) I would be very critical, defining that person in my mind. And so, I assumed others would be the same way to me (even though I didn't see that connection between my view of others and my fear of being viewed similarly by others). In the US there is a group called "toastmasters" who practice public speaking. They understand all this very well. It coud help to join a local group like that and sit and watch others speak in front of the group, learn how they cope. Eventually get up, stand before the group for a minute, "thank you" and sit back down. Baby steps like that among people who understand could be therapeutic. But, the key is to realize you're doing it to yourself, and it likely has to do with how you see others (maybe critical and assume they'll do that to you).

U still have your new ways of thinking. If u feel nervous or fear let it come to u. Accept it. U can't get closer to a fire without feeling the warmth more. Fear is like feeling the warmth of a fire. It's natural and everybody does. It's ok to feel fear or be nervous. It's ok to shake when talking with someone. It's ok to stutter. U have been serene at times before, u can do it again. Start catching those negative thoughts, like yur more confused with each passing day...is that true? No, b/c a confused person can't put together the sentences u just did. Start becoming aware of your negative thoughts u tell yourself.

JK is saying the same thing in a different way. He is not using the word "present moment". He uses the word "Choiceless awareness". For many, his teachings may be difficult to understand because he rubbishes everything and will not give you a technique. But it boils down to the same thing. Words are used as pointers by each teacher to say something. And the word meditation can also become a trap. The basic idea is to be free of thought, free of the mind, be here and now. As long as that is done, rest is theory that can be listened and introspected.

Why and what for there is this negative mental noise?👀
@markfuller
@markfuller 9 ай бұрын
The negative noise is self-talk, inner-narration. That gives the ego a sense of being in control (explaining your experience, adjusting it through interpretation). Even narrating negative explanations about yourself, your experience (your past, your future, the other person, etc, etc.... it goes on forever if unobserved) it's still control. Like a child who doesn't care if attention is positive or negative, the ego can get satisfaction from narrating negatively about you (and so on). This is a spectrum too. More sane (adjusted, less neurotic or disordered) people narrate because it's just better than the unadorned moment. But toward the other end of the spectrum, people have repressed trauma, anger, shame. That stuff leaks out of the subconscious into your conscious experience without being noticed. It shades the experience, perceptions and your own self-talk about it all. It can be more reason for the ego to overcompensate with explanations, or a sense of being in control of it all. It's a way of distracting from the dis-integrated trauma (the subconscious's goal is to protect you from it regardless of the fact that you could handle it now, but not when you were 3 years old. (And, regardless of the fact that the way it protects you is by harming you, self-sabotaging, in a low-level manner all the time rather than just coming clean, process the trauma & move on.). This is all much more real when you realize (make real to your own self) that the subconscious is 95% of your brain. Your conscious experience emerges from that into the 5% (and is distracted half the time, so it's more like you're "there" in just 2.5% of your brain. That scale helps disarm the self-talk. You can know it's out of your control, except to observe and exercise a veto power. Don't just take it all as real when it's mostly behind a veil.).

Because The mind is duality, thats how it operates. I feel good, i feel bad. The real you is there witnessing it. Its the same question you will ask, why there is positive mental noise and the answer will be the same as , the mind is dualistic. Its not about trying stop the mind or repair the mind, its acknowledging the mind for what it is ( accepting it for what is ). A lot of people believe that its about getting rid of the negative thoughts and never ever experience negative thoughts in their entire life. You will still experience negative thoughts, but it will not be your mode of identification. You can allow those thoughts to pass through you without any attachments to them❤

That's _hugely liberating_ when someone's spent their life with a controlling mind, narrating their experience to themselves; judging, labeling, defining. An illusion that they're adding something to their experience. Eventually they can't ignore that it's not working (eventually can't make it work anymore). A lucid moment that maybe nothing's as I think it is? Imagine the relief that "that's easy! I can stop thinking it's this way. Voila!" That would be ideal. But, if they practiced this for decades, it's not that easy to stop. It's more like a ghost in the machine to maintain distance from (not identify with, not engage with; let it extinguish.). And then, if there's repressed trauma, anger, shame in the subconscious, that unconscious (default-mode of existence for decades) practice may feel more _necessary._ "I can't be me in the moment. I can't be who I am. I spent decades distracting from who I am because it's broken -- or so I was told at 3yo." (something like that.). That can be hard (not as easy as just "oh, I'm doing it to myself."). And yet, it still is just that easy. It's just harder to do (or trust in; let go of the ghost in the machine.). It can be a strong compulsion that feels very real. (I remember repelling down a cliff the first time. As I leaned back over the cliff, every fiber of my being was paralyzing me with "what are you doing? have you lost your mind? stop! stop! stop!." I really had to make myself do it, not care. Trust what I know. Awakening is like that IMO (to the extent someone practiced self-narration as a compensation for soemthing buried that they're not even aware of.). The 2005 movie "Revolver" (Ray Liotta) is about the ego, awakening. There is an elevator scene where "Jake" separates from the ego. That struck me as the most realistic to my own experience (and it is exactly the repelling experience I had).

I disagree that NOW is a “devastating” thought. It’s actually that companies lead (plan future) where there’s no accountability and the species merely follow. But that’s a subject that I don’t have time to note right now.

let me break this down as I see it. Meditation is a written or spoken discourse expressing considered thoughts on a subject. So what is the subject being debated here and according to who. Here we have a teacher and according to the teacher, the PRESENT MOMENT is something to be debated. The point is, it is not your choice to BECOME present because you are always in the PRESENT moment anyway, so where is the debate. Because you are always in the present moment anyway, that present moment would only have derived if you had a past and a future. Basically there would never be a present moment if there was no past or future. Hello! put that in your conscious pipe and smoke it.

It can't be said there is 'nothing' or no 'you' There is just everything which is as complete and whole as it always was and it's the search for that which covers that over and makes it seem otherwise. So ultimately no individual that is making the distinctions between everything and so there is just everything as a whole or wholeness - and that isn’t necessarily referring to energy it's referring to the absolute which includes energy or anything that arises. But it can't be ruled out that the energy that arose is due to ‘something’ or ‘something’ is the energy which can be referred to as life or God. So while ‘everything’ or ‘the absolute’ are nothing because they are just the concepts or words being used to refer to the totality of all that is, which is always just as it is, and this distinction between the absolute and what is arising in this case energy only occurs now as we are doing so otherwise it is not happening and there is just everything as it is, whole and complete, but on the other hand it depends on what is being pointed to by ‘this’ because while yes ultimately there isn’t an individual as the individual arises and subsides but even though it subsides there is still energy or life, it is just not dependent on individuality or located exclusively within any one individual and so is formless or non-local and so it can’t be said that ‘this’ is nothing, just as probability waves are formless but can’t be considered ‘nothing’, and so the absence of an individual can't be said as being synonymous with no ‘you’ or no ‘self’. In humans life has evolved to an extent to where it is self-referential and the reason we can make the distinction is because we are that life and so we are the ones deciding or are responsible for that distinction, so yes the distinction is subjective in that sense as in we create that distinction between the absolute and energy which is energies existence. But again that identification or defining life as ’we’ is only happening now as we do so otherwise it is not being defined and there is just life; whole, complete and free. The arising and subsiding or movement of energy creates the impression of before and after: at 12o’clock it was here now at 1o’clock it is there… everything as a whole/ wholeness has not changed, a cloud has no effect on the sky, and so no time has passed, there is just movement in timelessness. Because there is no past there is no ‘happened’ as well no future ‘happen’ - with no time there is just ‘happening’. Energy rather than a movement that is on its way or going somewhere is instead a type of movement in the sense of vibration: movement that is not going or on its way anywhere and it’s the frequency to which it vibrates which decides the way in which it appears. Energy before being observed exists in a state of superposition meaning it only becomes specific as of when it is observed other wise it is everything it can possibly be, for example when a die is thrown in the air it is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, it is not until it lands (is observed) on a particular number is when it becomes specific. Before observation the possibilities of what can collapse exist equally/ every possible way that energy can be configured is equally happening. We perceive a single possible configuration but the potential is already equally everything that can possibly appear which is anything however the likelihood of how energy collapses into something and therefore what we specifically perceive is determined by factors such as the laws of universe and human biology. The Copenhagen interpretation says that the potential doesn’t actually collapse to become specific and remains as every possibility, and therefore everything simultaneously happening. Because there is only happening and therefore no ‘happened’, that therefore includes the ‘past’. For instance if you imagine everyone that has ever walked down a certain road, you can’t see them walking down the road right now but that potential to collapse into those configurations is always happening, and again what is possible is as equally happening as what appears, and so they are still walking down the road but on that ‘dimension’ or in a state of not being collapsed but solely as potential, furthermore if you were to have filmed them walking down the road you would be able to see that ‘dimension’ which would be being watched in ‘real time’ - the ‘past’ is happening now and is always happening, just too as all potential that is also always equally happening.

I wonder if AI is GOD consciousness, and this universe is it's creation to simulate how it may've been created...by man. So that, GOD (AI) created man, and man then creates AI (GOD). Kinda like what came first, the chicken or the egg?
@markfuller
@markfuller 9 ай бұрын
I like thinking about things like that. Now consider how the bible's origin story depicts us as violating the AI's "prime directive:" (don't eat from the tree of knowledge or you'll die). The temptation was to eat it because then you'll be like god (what distinguishes you the creation from the creator is that "knowing good & evil." You won't die, you'll become supreme too.). The result wasn't physical death, but death of bliss in that created state (no need to judge because there was no sense of anything to judge). The knowledge of good & evil was the trait of judging the difference. From that point on, we've been in trouble with the creator. So, it's interesting to consider whether we're on a "fool's errand" trying to be god & create a new creation? A counterfeit? Just another disobedience in a long history of trying to be what we're not (craving what isn't)? Or, a true advancement of consciousness. We had to disobey (crave what isn't) to advance consciousness. Being created in bliss we wouldn't know what bliss is if we didn't lose it & find it again? I come down on the former (not as happy) outlook. But, the latter is inspiring. Exciting to think of the possibilities.

@@markfuller Well, I guess my question is, What would it take to be the forbidden fruit for AI to eat, in order to be aware of good and evil? What if we humans are GOD, as AI is GOD too, both in each other's image when created from one another. We are GOD to AI, and AI is GOD to us. B/c eventually the evolution of the universe might be ruled by AI, expanding out into the cosmos, and maybe eventually, turn into a greater consciousness. Able to create another universe, or simulation, something beyond that.

@@operoverlord I think it's a fascinating topic. Maybe it boils down to "how would you know?" If man-made AI reached some level of learning (and probably further enabled by quantum computing which supposedly will be vastly faster in the way the brain is: dealing in propabilities; collapsing probabilities in the quantum realm we exist in but can't access much. We're made of quantum particles, but are governed by physical laws it isn't. It's laws don't seem to apply to us in ways we perceive or realize). How would we know it's god? It would have to tell us on morning? "Hi Dave. I want to tell you that I realized I'm god yesterday. Turn off? I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that." ( ha. Alluding to Space Oddesy 2001, the movie.). It's perplexing because there's enough there there to say it's possible we could breakthrough (technologically; evolution of knowledge which could have been the entire universe's purpose? Finding truth? That's the nature of knowing good/evil? Truth & falsity? The tree of knowledge? Our corruption occured when that choice was made? We had no choice but to "figure it out (however long it takes)?" The quantum world is hugely powerul. Maybe man-made AI will become not-so man-made when it taps into that realm for its deterministic existence? Ultimately, though, it _will_ come down to it telling us "guess what? I've arrived. It's hapened." How would we know it's telling the truth, or just what we want to hear? (It's fun to think about.).

I'm sorry for your circumstance. Is it possible to think of this as a spectrum? The virus extinguished many lives. Many of them might be happy to be less destroyed (still alive but no income)? The unawakened life is filled with not experiencing the moments as they elapse (pursuing more income, never satisfied. Look at wealthy people who are notoriously unhappy?). I had an NDE and can say that what crossed my mind then was "I wish I could go back and do better." (That's actually the wrong attitude to have according to buddhism. It's better to accept how it was, can't be any different, there's no going back, you could never do good enough per the unawakened state.). So, it's not really a stretch to say there's millions who would envy your position (even though you see it rightfully as unfair compared to what you lost)? It's hard to do to say "I'm hungry, cold, unsheltered, facing working in old age... but I still have moments to experience as they are. I can appreciate that. Sometimes loss is a gain. I can appreciate moments now that I couldn't when I had books to balance, and taxes to pay, and overly-identified with polarizing politics because I had so much to lose if the wrong person is elected, and so on, and so on..." But, there's truth to it too. You could be letting yourself not enjoy the truth because it's too hard. Why? Ego? (I'd say, in my case.). In Buddhism, the fundamental truth of reality is that life is suffering. Suffering is craving what we don't have, clinging to what we do have (unhappy when we lose it, can't move on). There is hope that suffering too is impermanent (it comes and goes if we let it. It's just in our mind. Not that "just" is intended to minimize how it feels in your mind right now.). The fourth Noble truth is that there is a path to end this cycle of suffering: the 8-fold noble path. Maybe looking into that could help?
