The boat consumes SO much fuel that it actually has to float in it's own fuel supply. The entire lake you see there is just a giant, open-air, fuel tank, and the boat has inlet grills on the bow that just suck the fuel in and consume it, kind of like how most boats suck in water for cooling. You know you're running low on fuel when you start running a ground and bottoming out on sandbars. 😂

It did however win the Harmsworth trophy twice. It was designed and build by Gar Wood and Napoleon Lisee. Lastly, the current world speed record on water is 317.6mph. I have a 355 sbc in a 80 Camaro that has come off jackstands on me from reving learning the hard way. They use allot less gas then people think. These burn something like 30 gallons an hour. In an airplane (which is what these are from) that's going 270-350 mph. So they get about 10 to 15 miles per gallon in car terms.. About the same as an SUV.
