The Jeep Cherokee that seems to be the highlight of majority of our trail ride video has became very popular, So follow along as we explain all the details with it and just what makes this Jeep Cherokee hold together!! People see us as the ones that ruin perfectly good Cherokees, however this one didn't have a whole lot of life left in the poor thing. Hope you learn along with get some inspiration to build you a enjoyable trail rig!

Some xj's just wont die, have had my 92 4.0 since 04, on its third incarnation of lifts at 238k and been stolen twice, beat ruthlessly by theives and recovered minus 35s and battery both times, still used as a back up DD and wheeler, never selling it ever

If I am remembering correctly, That idle/ pressure regulator sensor on the power steering is actually a design that General Motors originally came out with back in the 1980 for their front wheel drive cars , on the small V6 and 4 cylinder models, even some of the early ones that were still using electronic controlled carburetors , because the engine would stall sometimes when the steering the power steering was under heavy load, Especially in the cold weather.

I was a bedliner spray tech a while back, I made some floor mats out of layers of over spray so I took could cover up the holes in my floor boards, that was my first XJ(90/2dr4.0), but they do the same job in my newer XJ (01/4dr4.0) ,been that way for almost ten years 😂 but new ones getting floors just working rear to front , as it's my daily still

I had 99 in blue 2.5. I built a header out of a 4.0L tube header. Throttle body off a 4.0 swapped the sensors. It lived on the rev limiter and knocked on day 1. Never died. Rolled it smashed out windshield first time out😁 Love y'all's videos!

If you come across a 2 door preferably but a 4 door manual will work also! I always wanted one in decent shape to drive and fix up as I go every week. Thanks again for everything you share with us.

My first Cherokee was a two door 2wd 4cyl with a quick shifting 5spd that was pretty neat. The thing that still impresses me was the great handling and perfectly even tire wear with that lighter engine. It was red too :)

Brace on the lower control arm mount is a good idea, I jumped my old jeep that was on a 6in and 35s and pushed that mount into the frame🤣 I also bent a track bar in my daily when I hit a curb snow drifting

I put 99 cherokee axles in my 93 grand cherokee the back is a 8.25 an the front is a hi pinion with the stock 3.55 gears in them I put a 94 cherokee 5speed in it to with a 2000 4.0 it's did good for 5 years now got a long arm kit front and back under it with 35s

Dex. Hi I’m Nancy I got a 2000 G Cherokee Laredo 2 Wheel Dr. that I’ve had forever and recently the transmission has been acting up. Sometimes it slips and sometimes it don’t shift. I am 75 years old and when I was younger I used to drive a tow truck Knew quite a bit about cars. But now with all this new electronic stuff, I’m not too good at it I call myself doing some troubleshooting, but checking KZbin and needless to say I am as confused as I was before I started. Could you tell me how much a used transmission would cost? And if it would be possible that I might be able to drive it to where you are. If not, maybe if it’s not too terribly expensive you could send it to me and maybe I can find somebody to change it for me now she’s not pretty it’s black And just about all of the paint is faded and cracked on the hood. But when you get my and live on a fixed income, you do the best you can. I have had three serious fine surgeries the first one I fell and broke the screws in it. And a year later May 2 they went through my sad and put a metal rack up behind, my vertebrae’s that had square sections to keep my vertebrae‘s from sitting down on each other and then on May 4 two days later they they open my back up, took the broke hardware out, put new hardware in and had to go up to vertebrae‘s. Long story short I’ve been active all my life and it’s running very crazy not having her way to get out of the house. Back to years ago my brother raised Volkswagens the real he was very good hot reader, because the magazine come out and wrote a big article on him. The year he started racing. He ran 29 races and 26 check flags my whole family has been active all my life. Would you please respond back to me thank you and God bless.P.S. The 2.8 v6 xj from 84-85 had the power steering pressure switch as well for idle.

86-94 s10 Blazer and s15 jimmy can break out the leaf springs off the frame as well and they are full frame

Love it!!! Actually love all your content. I need help tho... 99 xj. What's best steering gear upgrade? Durango? And led headlights. After being on for awhile they will not shut off after turning xj off. Than I have to turn back on and pull the switch and than push back in. Is that the switch or do I need upgrade harness?

The 99 xj has time delay headlight Push the headlight switch in before you turn the jeep off and the lights will be off. Or Push the switch in after you turn the jeep off and the headlights will stay on for a little bit (maybe 30seconds-1min)

And simple steering upgrade for an xj is; you can upgrade your tierod to the 97 grand Cherokee zj v8 tierod. It is a direct bolt on the v8zj tierod is way stronger

Looking forward to seeing a built 2.5 turbo! Ford has stuck with their 2.3l. Dang FORD RANGER. Not sure why Jeep did not do the same. I guess the 2.4 was the straw on the camel's back.

I need help with my 97 XJ. Just replaced the head with a tupy and ONLY ONE PISTON and ROD + bearing on the one. All the other pistons looked ok but I HAVE A FRIGGEN TICK TICK TiCk. Im in Murfreesboro,TN anyone over here????? Also, have some subframe rusted pretty bad and wanted some advice or kit welds, to find out if it is just done. I am not a wuss, I am a lady and getting worried about my beloved JEEP. My son loved my old Jeep and since he is passed away, I do it all myself now FOR JOHNATHON!!!
