I just found out I have cancer and I lost my husband a year ago so I'm alone. I'm getting ready to go to the oncologist and I have to say this has the best gift I could have gotten this morning to calm my nerves and remind me of my Russian husband who was my best friend. @@chipcouncil Leonid is the bass guitar player. He started his band in 2014. Members have changed over the years, but he has access to the best musicians in Russia. Go see them live. Their new US tour starts in September.

I don’t feel like Igor on the drums gets enough praise. He is amazing and plays just like Danny Seraphine. Eyes closed you’d never know who it was. Just amazing as is the whole band.

Danny was the drummer who was fired by Chicago for working with management on the group's financial issues, while the other members were doing copious amounts of drugs. Guy got a raw deal. Terry Kath said nobody would be fired by the group. The only way out was if they quit or died. But of course Terry had died at that point so what could he do. Igor gets a lot of praise by viewers. He is a fantastic drummer!

I have been hoping they would record "Just You n' Me" since I started listening to Leonid and Friends. They performed masterfully as they always have in their other covers of Chicago. I especially appreciated the soprano sax solo by Vladimir. He was great as was everyone else. This is a wonderful love song. I think of a girl named Joy every time I hear it. She and I were in high school when this song was originally a hit in 1974.

The orchestra is Russian. There is only one lead vocalist from Ukraine. So learn to say "hello" in Russian.

An extraordinary undertaking by founder Leonid Vorobyev. Transcribing the original recordings, note for note, is amazing in itself. Assembling players of high caliber and videotaping the resulting music was a brilliant concept. As a result, they brought the original 7 piece band's music to a new generation. Groovy!

The June show from this year was postponed until May 2, 2021 (I have tix + meet-n-greet). According to the Birchmere site, tix from 6/6/20 will be honored, but I'd double check. SO hoping things are better enough by then that it happens. My buddy who turned me on to them lives in Southern California, and they won't be there until a year from now.
