Wat about led's? . How often should they be replaced ?. Or at how many hrs do they start loosing power . And what's the reason diodes start going out ?. I had gotten an led 2 weeks in. One of them went out. Of course I got a replacement .. Thanks in advance
@whiteowl8703 Жыл бұрын
I found that single ended need replacement every 6 months or two turns. DE HPS - I don’t know because at one year they are still blasting unbelievably strong. DE Bulbs are the greatest modern tek available for indoor growing. Don’t get suckered by the led lying hype.

Can you know if the bulb has lost its efficiency just by looking at it? And how? Does it change its colour for example from yellow become mor whitish or vice versa? Or just lower the brightness? Thank so much if you understand what i mean and i apologize if you explained in the video but im bad at English.

@Everest Fern... Thank u for ur hard work. If we use a reflector with no qlass cover... & a humidifier/or if the room qets pretty humid at times... Is there a danqer that the moisture in the air can react with the hot bulb causinq the bulb to explode/burst/break/wear out Faster etc.? Would hiqher humidity rooms create fire hazards/shorten the life of bulbs/ballasts/fans/any equipment? Also what humidity % should we NEVER EXCEED as a MAXIMUM in a qrow room? Thank u. Anybody knowledqeable Please reply Soon.

my C-MH 315, is hooked up to a, surge protected construction grade extension cord, most times i have a lightning storm or just really heavy rain the surge protector gets tripped. and i have to press the button again, now i have read online that this does damage to your C-MH. i just wanted your opinion, plus if i did not have a surge protector my whole light would blow right?
@Just4Growers8 жыл бұрын
+zebedee totty Damage can occur to the CDM lamp if power is cut during the lamp warm up phase (so say for the first 8-10 min of operation) after the lamp has come up to full temperature/pressure cutting power will not harm the lamp at all. From an electrical standpoint, the surge protector is doing its job to protect the downstream device from high in-rush power. In this instance, a lightning storm. If this situation is a common occurrence you may want to consider a ‘whole house’ system (eg MidNite Solar Inc. ( www.midnitesolar.com ) and go to ‘surge protection devices’ under the Products tab. A product like this would protect all your equipment from potential electrical harm. I hope this information is helpful.
@zebedeetotty8 жыл бұрын
thank you for the info, my house is earthed, i think the surge protector is just worn out, is it is happening more now it also all-ways trip's after only 0.5-1 sec of operation

Time to drop another $120 on a 1000 watt HPS. Was gonna go hortilux as iv as ways had good results but very exspensive. I went with a growlite that was $20 cheaper but failed early. They warranty my bulb. What 1000 watt bulb do you recommend for the $ Everest? Heavy fruiting plants ;)
@tyed948 жыл бұрын
Hortilux is the way to go. There are some others, but they just can't compare to Hortilux. But if you want to up your game I would look into the double ended lights. (Use to work for a hydro store.)

If your room is on point then the bulb brand doesn't matter all that much. I've never had a Horti or Ushio or any of the other big name brands outperform these bulbs during a side by side. Especially at almost 100 bucks more each, they certainly were not worth the extra cost.

@Just4Growers5 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Wills I don’t recommend dimming metal halide lamps. The spectrum depends on that mercury for blueness. At lower powers the blue is the first to wane making the overall spectrum “greener”. Run metal halide lamps at 100% power.

Massively air-cooled the sh-t out of 6 1k lamps. 6" Blockbusters. 2 chains of 3 lamps inline. 8 to 2 6 inch Y to two chains of three Blockbusters to the 2 6 inch to 8 inch Y to 8 inch ducting to a Harbor Freight 8" blower with a 10" to 8" duct reducer cut and bent to shape to shroud to the 8" duct booster. 1.4 amps of 115v gets you 1,598 cfms. Cool air intake ran at night. Fun fact was that the blackening of the arc tubes of the single ended 1k HPS was severely diminished due to massive air-cooling. As we all know, the blackening of the ends of the arc tubes is a direct measure of lumen degradation. Classically, according to Ed Rosenthal, you'll lose 5% per three months with single ended HPS lamps. I experienced far less lumen degradation than this. Try it out. Harbor Freight blowers with duct reducers. Single ended 1k HPS lamps. There are some with 2,380 micromoles, 179,900 lumens. Better at the time than any 1k DE lamps. Cheaper. Can be air-cooled without lumen loss due to air-cooling. Baller.

first off Ev....where in the hell do you get all this awesome brand new gear for your vids? Do you get to keep it? Damn. All your gear is stste of thee art for the home cultivator. And secondly....what about t5 bulbs? When is replacement time for them? The 2 and 4 footers? I use both in my veg room. 2 four foot six bulbers for moms and preflowers and a homemade mini steel wire two tier shelf rack (all the growers use the big ones - you know the shelves which i speak) with the 2 footer 2 bulb t5 fixtures zip tied under each shelf for my propagation station. Anyways...great vids bro. Yours are the best. But they are too quick. lol. We want longer Ev grow vids man!!!!!!!!!!!
@Just4Growers8 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeremiah and thanks for your kind words about my vids. Change your T5s every 9 - 12 months if running for 18 hours a day, two or four foot. My research work with hydroponics and industry buddies means I can often get stuff at trade / friendly price-hence the vast amount of kit I appear to have for my "hobby". It's actually my work too. :)

Okay, so here's a question for the replacement protocol: When you observe degradation issues your avg goon is gunna head back to the grown store and exclaim, " hey, what gives! I wanna new light!" But you say a decrease in spectral quality and luminosity will be observed as a natural degradation. But let's get weird here and say you have UNNATURAL degradation. Like really bad stuff. I imagine lamp manufactures have a line in the sand to judge when a warranty is justified. So my question(s) (finally) is what device(s) are we using to judge dredd that bulb?! PAR meter? Luminosity sensor? Both? Neither?! Sounds like luminosity is all you'd have to worry about testing since there could be a standard at your given wattage and know when your facing possible loss?
@Just4Growers8 жыл бұрын
+Furious Tortoise Hi FT. The cheap and simple way to judge the output of a lamp is to measure PAR (typically in μmols) on a grid at a set distance from your lamp fixture. The true test is using an Ulbricht (integrating) sphere to measure the total output of the lamp but that's only available to labs. In the middle, you could invest in a spectral radiometer which would give you data on the spectrum / spectral distribution. I will go through all these methods in future vids.
