I love how every other practitioner I've seen is very very serious and adamant about being nothing but respectful and mature and formal with spirits, and that you cannot joke around with them, and Frankie is out here going up to their spirits like, "KNOCK KNOCK, Y'ALL GOOD? Y'ALL NEED ANYTHING? I NEED HELP WITH A SPELL, C'MON OVER." It's my absolute favorite thing and takes away some of my unease I get from being so strict and formal with how I talk and speak to spirits.

When talking about closed practices, I think it’s also important to think about the history of the religion. Caribbean religions that developed out of being stolen, raped, mirdered, had their languages, cultural practices, and religions stripped away from them their enslavers, enslaved peoples created these things for themselves in protest for their treatment and to retain their power in what little ways they could. When people from a colonizers heritage try to assume they have the right to initiate themselves into Voodoo or other closed practices, they completely miss the point that those spirits probably do not want to work with white people, even if their direct ancestors didn’t own slaves. My ancestors didn’t but they benefited from the white supremacy that permeates American society. That trauma that these religions were created from cannot speak to us. Idk why it’s so hard to understand. We have no rights to assume those practices as ours. Any approval of a white person practicing closed religions should come within that religious community itself to whether they accept that person as an initiate.

I had an experience recently that shook me, and when you mentioned St. Anthony I felt inclined to share it. I've been researching my paternal grandmother's Sicilian ancestry for a little over a month now and up until about a week ago we didn't know for certain who her father was or when he came here/where he came from because there are A LOT of people with his name. When I got back 65 results for his name on the Ellis Island website, I half jokingly said out loud, "This will take me weeks. Saints, please help me find this man." I'm not Catholic, and I was actually raised pagan and a witch by my grandmother on my maternal side of the family, but I've accepted the fact that Saints come with the territory of researching my ancestry. ANYWAYYS. I closed the window, forgot about great grandpa and went to do something else, when less than an hour later his identiy kind of just, dropped into my lap when I wasn't trying to figure it out. I didn't petition any of the Saints by name, but finding lost people is one of the things St. Anthony is known for so I'm definitely going to be lighting a candle for him now because the experience was just too coincidental and still has me shook.

I accidentally started spirit work before I was a witch. I've always been able to see spirits but theres one that is really important to my life. He showed up when I was 5. He treated me like a little sister but my father never trusted him. Father can also see ghosts. Any time he caught me and Damian, the spirit, trying to talk to each other he'd force my sister to cleanse the house. I'd give damian gifts like frogs and books, and Damian would protect me from any evil he could. Anytime I was with friends hed watch from afar to make sure I wouldnt get hurt. When i was 12 i upset him. I started drinking and he hated it. He started getting violent with me and in a way tried to take over my body so I'd stop destroying myself. He was this way for a year and I quit drinking when I was 13. Our relationship went back to normal and even father started tolerating him. Damian would follow me to school and even some of my other friends would see him. He left earlier this year. 10 years with him by my side. I'm a baby witch still. I've been celebrating the holidays for a couple years but am only this year starting to get into practicing. Damian tought me a lot and now I can control when I see spirits because of him. I want to go into death craft because of him. I want to help others move on and get used to being dead. I miss him deeply but he was ready to move on and I know itd be wrong of me to stop him. Wherever he is now I hope hes happy and well. I hope he knows just how much I love and appreciate him. Having said all this I've also encountered some asshole spirits so be careful!!

Literally listening to your video on my way home and not 5 seconds after you talk about your fox skull, a large fox appears on the side of the road of my neighborhood. Been feeling stagnant for weeks lately in my practice after feeling like I hit a breakthrough with my general practice after my 1 year mark and like a few weeks. (I’ve been doing random stuff for years but it’s been a year with a diety/specific focuses, committed to studies more seriously then before.) suddenly I have a bunch of upset ghosts in my house because I’m not paying attention enough and now need to learn a whole new aspect of my craft. Might just be Samhain stuff and this full moon but it’s been crazy active lately. Feel like I’m getting clear signs and my workings are fine yet there’s a feeling I’m missing something and need to learn smt. (If a plant or protection plant dies sometimes it means you use the remains in a working either a hex or hex breaking. I sometime keep friend plants that always mimic the friendships with people and how they’re growing or how my energy or their energy is aligned or not some of those relations. The plants bloom for extended time in its season or blooms/forms new shoots randomly. and some of them die right before that friend decides to break off the friendship (or like they move/get arrested it depends lol) If the person never really was a friend the plant never grows right it always has issues or always struggles or does unusual things or grows misshapen leaves when that plant dies you really get rid of it and forget that person. If that person bothers you you can destroy that plant those connections and get rid of it in a peaceful way/protective/or banishing-hexing. Ivy likes shade, I put a thin shirt/curtain in front of mine most times. Also they don’t really love wet soil, they like to move through dry stuff or over brick because they’re not directly wet but they can grab the water. So the best way for me to take care of them is to make sure the temperature is pretty standard warm(spring like) and that they’re kinda abandoned - grow on trees so little actual water they want shade/height/space/and a trickle of water every now and then. Large terra-cotta pot for the plant size will encourage growth, put a stick in the back with a brick chunk propping it up. Wet the brick not the plant. Call it day and leave it alone it doesn’t want to be babied it wants to be slightly mischievous and they need to be left alone for that. The more I mess with ivys/ferns the worse they do they like stillness and gentle rustling, not to have eyes on them and checked every few days. It’s like throwing a potato in a cabinet to get roots you don’t want to overwork and you don’t need to

I'm not huge on plants, I only have two air plants, but I got the urge to tell you to go check on the roots. Consider a bigger pot if there's tangling or treating the roots with baking soda in water sprayed on the roots for fungal issues or let the roots hang out of the soil in water to help with air circulation for a bit. If you haven't yet. Idk, I get the feeling your plant caught the common cold and isn't doing too well with it.

It depends on if you want to talk to them or not. Listen to your gut, if you get that solid pit in your stomach or immediate threat response, then put up more protections and banish that mofo. Conversely, if you don't feel any threat or bad vibes from the spirit, then ask them to talk to you in a warded space you feel safe in, at a time you can dedicate to speaking with them.

What are spirits in a closed religion or whatever she said? Does that mean don’t talk to any spirits of humans? Or is there something I’m unaware of
@ChaoticWitchAunt2 жыл бұрын
Spirits of a closed religion references spirits that are part of closed or initiatory traditions, religions and practices. Some of these are spirits like Coyote, which is sacred to a few Indigenous tribes and does not have folklore in Europe or outside of Indigenous stories. Another example are the Lwa, part of Vodou, which you have to be initiated into to practice and commune with those spirits. This could also mean sacred plant spirits.

@@Granolaeccentric Technically it would be disrespectful to do so if you had not joined an indigenous native american tribe and learned from them about their practices for it. No, not even in general. This is why you never find any of that stuff in books because indigenous peoples are to be respected no matter how much you think you can just go ahead and do it yourself without having first learned from them. If you want to do that you had better learn from them directly and that way you never disrespect the indigenous peoples. It's kind of like the dream catcher which originates from an indigenous tribe of the american continent. Some tycoon went in and seen it and from there we know what happened. As another example, in fact, did you know that all across the U.S. it's actually illegal to collect bald eagle feathers if you are not native american and/or did not receive it directly from one of the indigenous tribes? Even if the feather lands in your yard it's still illegal to collect it. Don't even touch it and leave it lay where it does because you could face some serious prison time and some hefty fines if you do collect it even if you didn't know any better. That's the reason for all of the ethical laws in the states about what you can and cannot collect, the indigenous tribes of North America, and also why you never find any of the native american practices in books because its illegal to share through any source except through them directly. These kind of laws are put in place not to prevent you from learning these practices, or to prevent you from getting a hold of specific resources, but instead to protect the indigenous peoples of america and so you have you to go through them in full due respect owed to them to learn their practices and to get a hold of those resources. For a lack of better terms, this is one area in our European descent lives, that we cannot be introvert solitaries. If you want to be respectful and not potentially get into any kind of trouble you'll have muster up the courage to go out there just like many have done before you actually being social face-to-face and learn from them directly. They are more than willing to teach you and gladly welcome it. Just have to go out there and do it with them and that's the first sign of respect. And if you do find their practices in a book make sure it's first through a reputable source.

18:39 Seriously and they have the audacity to say why the entity or another entity showed up and fucked their shit up. Like one you didn't do the ritual right, two didn't even say their name right, three didn't even have the right scents, food and other offerings precisely for this entity, you didn't have respect for the entity, you didn't have the right type of land or the right substitute for the environment in which to evoke the entity, YES YOU WILL BE POSSESED BY THE ENTITY depending on the ritual. They will kill you and won't think twice about it and get this your misfortune can spread onto others so don't do it example generational curse type stuff.

And this is why we don't work with spirits from closed practices! I said this in another comment, but half the time there are *such* specific ways to approach these spirits that those non-initiated or outside of the culture/tradition DO NOT KNOW. If you care about connecting with the entity so much, go through the proper routes!!!

@@ChaoticWitchAunt Thank you so much I know a lot of creators from closed practices usually having to do with Hoodoo and Voodoo. They are allowed to share a small portion of information that can be given out to the public. I help to inform people with the knowledge I've learned from them along with some of my own experiences with different information on entities that can be shared but with caution. Like what not to do and the effects of not listening to the warnings.

Also.. I have a question can you learn to see spirits or is that a gift that you either have or not- Another question I have.. I want to learn from someone something about life and death I don't know from who though.. Angels? Demons? My spirit guides?

Great question - re: seeing spirits, I often find that "seeing" is more like "feeling". I can sense/feel the presence of spirits, but I rarely ever *see* them in full body, corporeal form. I would also recommend the Witch's Guide to the Paranormal for this! J Allen Cross explains a lot about mediumship basics, the clair senses, and getting in touch with that sense. And learning about life and death is a broad topic, but explore the avenues that feel right to you.

For the Ivy It very well could be a humidity issue like you had mentioned, however, it's also very likely that it either needs more sun or a larger pot. If you've been watering it irregularly then the issue could be root rot, which kills plants really easily since it's not super detectable to the untrained eye. The solution to that would be to repot it, then lightly water it with a 1-3 mix of water and hydrogen peroxide; this has saved many plants for me! If none of these problems are what's happening then the plant has done its work in the spell you used it for. If you need a new ivy plant then I'd say wait a little bit before getting another. It lets you regroup from owning the plant and also helps the air settle for the new plant to come in. Though I've found that plants aren't that picky about it, I'd suggest still doing it as a precaution. Loved the video, by the way, very good book recommendations. Also if you could, tell your fox familiar that my fox spirit, Lester, says hi!

I really wanna get a pig spirt in my home but all I have is pig stuff (A LOT) but nothing natural. I’m also in the broom closet.🥲 I’m trying to do research but I can’t find anything. Can I just invite a pig spirt into my home or do I need to get something natural?
