I really like what Vaer is doing here. Standard sizing, good features for the pricepoint, and a respectable nod to the past. Well put together.

I have this with the white dial. If I had to ever again I would’ve gone with black. Really like the watch and it is second only to my Hamilton when it comes to my field watches. Vaer Was originally a strap company. They make great straps, but the Horween leather(Both the two piece and single pass NATO) Are the best I have ever seen. It’s $30 more to order with the watch. It is $70 if you buy it from the Vaer store. At $30 is an absolute bargain And I’ve had it on many watches. Thanks for the review! Cheers!

They have internal AR coating. I own two. Beautiful finish,, I bought an extra Halloween leather strap, some of the best I've seen, in fact I'm very impressed by all their straps. It even came with a little card signed by the technician who inspected the watch. Screw down crown, and waterproof guarantee, not water resistance :-). My straps are all quick release, which I like better

Not a bad one for the price. However, I find visually difficult the cut of the date so close to the 3. I would pass this one, maybe a non date version would be better, of course if automatic too. Cheers, V.

This Vaer is very similar to my Hemel SWAT in dimensions, sapphire crystal, Swiss quartz movement, and dial appearance. They both have screw down crowns and 10ATM water resistance which I find essential for working in rainy conditions.. My Hemel came with a black nylon two piece strap which I have replaced with a Strapcode mesh bracelet to improve wearing comfort. This Vaer Heritage seems very fairly priced...almost a hundred dollars less than my Hemel.

Imo the real selling point for Vaer is they offer sapphire crystal on their watches, been doing research for these past 2 days, impossible to find sapphire crystal offering at these price point. Seiko, Citizen, Timex, you name it literally all other brands only offer mineral crystal at this price range.

Thanks for reviewing the Vaer watch brand. I hadn't heard of the brand before and I am now on their website perusing the models that they offer. The truncated 3 doesn't bother me; thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes I don't notice things like that at first glance, nor maybe at the 100th glance. Overall-great review.

Good review. I'm surprised you did not note that the second hand did not 'tick' on the marker. It was a bit off. Sort of as peeve on a quartz watch. Seems contrary to the boast that it is American assembly that the second had does not line up with the marker?

Great watch I bought 3 of them and mug and waiting for the automatic

Also, it is a gold-plated five jeweled quartz movement with a 5-year battery life from Rhonda in Switzerland. It's not really your run of the mill $4 quartz movement.

When you can get an Orient Ray II for less than this watch I'd still rather have the F96 (or even an NH35) than a quartz movement. I wish they'd just slap an automatic movement in there or at least make sure the quartz second hand hits the mark exactly on point. As you can tell I'm picky haha

I have no problem with quartz. Reliability is something of a must with me. I am particularly fond of precision quartz movements. I would buy this Vaer if it was 42 - 44 mm. I prefer bigger cases. Guy, can you recommend a quality guartz field watch in my size. By the way, I have a friend who just serviced his vintage Rolex. He said it was "only" $1000. Lol!

Gregory Alonzo, It’s a common misconception, actually quartz watches also need regular service. Depending on the movement, it can be longer interval than mechanical, but not always. It’s actually the cheaper plastic quartz watches that don’t really need service and when they die eventually they are completely destroyed, because the plastic doesn’t need lubrication and it is quite durable, but due to variations in temperatures and eventually plain wear from friction, at some point it can’t be repaired but replaced completely. High end quartz watches are built pretty much like mechanical watches and need service. They have metal gears, jewels and rely on lubrication to keep it reliable and keep time reliably.

I know Hamilton has some field watches in that size but I’m not sure they do a quartz. I’ll see if I can find something.

I really like Vaer watches, and I too like quartz movements. I doubt there is much difference between a Ronda and ETA quartz movements. Wish I had got in on the give away but buying one is really no problem as their pricing is reasonable especially considering the screw down crown and sapphire crystal. Thanks so much for the video.

Guy, servicing a NH35 by a skilled watchmaker (assuming your high service quoted price) can give you a movement that is properly lubricated, much, much better than the Seiko factory, increasing its longevity, service intervals and performance, and also adjustment in 5-6 position which will make it easily perform on par with a Chronometer grade ETA. So there may be value in servicing a NH35 since you’re getting a much superior performing movement than what you get from the factory. There will be little to no variation in positions etc. This is something I’ve seen myself not bedtime stories, and for some people it may worth. I do understand your take though, but keep in mine you can find a new one one ebay for a bit over 20 dollars. I will also say paying that much money for basic service or operation to any watchmaker is a rip-off, hundreds of dollars should, and will, get you what I described above, if not, you’re grossly overpaying.

I’m not too impressed with it to be honest. In Europe you can find watches with identical specs, from quite known brands, for a lot less money, and maybe even better built ? (Wenger, Hanowa, Chrono) But I guess the design is what matters eventually.
