In honor of the return of my favorite player, I decided to highlight one of Reggie Bush’s most memorable performances while he was at USC. The Trojans were in danger of losing it’s 32-game winning streak, but an incredible 513-all-purpose yard performance by Bush kept the streak alive. He rushed for 294 yards & 2 TDs on 23 carries with a 12.8 YPC. He also had 68 receiving yards & 151 returning yards. Let’s talk football! He would had been irrelevant then and now in the SEC
@simpleysims3 жыл бұрын
@@kevinshell8392 It's hard to say if he would have had the same output. The game is played differently today. But keep in mind. The guys who helped run the show at Bama and LSU, two of the most recent championship teams from the SEC, were USC guys when Bush was playing. Ill name the 3 guys. Ed Ogeron (DL coach), Steve Sark (OC), and Lane Kiffen (OC). And a lot of the way Bama, LSU and most SEC teams play was adopted from the playbooks carried over from the Pac12 when Lane, Sark and Ed were there. So really, a team like Bama (today) is an advanced version of USC (then). It's no wonder who was the top dog then, and who's the top dog now. (BTW, Pete Carroll as a head coach ran his SC defense, kinda like Nick Saban runs his Bama defense. Both guys got their start as DB coaches). With that said, with the talent SC had during its time, i dont think it would take them long to adjust to the play style of today, especially if they're using the same concepts they used back in the day that SEC teams adopted for today's game. Thus, Reggie, would likely have an big impact in 2021, hypothetically speaking.

This is the kind of performance that validates what Derek Henry said when being asked if there’s a big difference between college and the NFL. Bush’s speed, agility and overall game was such a thing to watch when he played in college. He was still a good NFL player, but to be able to look like he looked in college and then being an above average RB in the NFL speaks volumes about the transition from one league to the next.
