Growing up I just loved this lady. Her humor was subtle and witty and dry. I loved when she acted bored in her stand up routines paused and suggested to the audience that they all do a flash mob to the 711, her treat. Her cat stories are my favorites She is a strong lady who overcame her alcohol addiction.

I've forgotten how hilarious she is. Why didn't she just explode with success & media over saturation? Many of her contemporaries had crazy success with sitcoms, films & commercial spokesmen. Paula unfortunate transcended generations, and has gone through times where comedy has taken a turn. People used to laugh at situational irony and stories and now they laugh at farts and people getting shot, so she's looked down upon often. She's a great comic.

She was charged with DUI and child endangerment to which she pleaded guilty. She was charged with 3 counts of lewd acts with a minor and they were dropped. Since it was a minor the child(ren) allegedly involved were not identified. The 2 foster children in her home at the time were taken from her and she was not allowed to adopt them. Her 3 adopted (former foster) children were allowed back to her after rehab, therapy, etc and a year of daily visitation.

a little girl lied to the police turned out she was seeking revenge for having been disciplined and decided to get even. Later the little girl then 13 or so recanted and told the truth and the charges were dropped.

Paula ended up getting a plea deal in which she was charged with DUI and endangering a child and social services revoked her right to adopt other children and removed 2 foster kids that had been in her charge.

Re: the maxim list, no accounting for tastes. I think Paula's funny even though I would've assumed she was too cutesy, the sexless lady in a tie who talks about cats all the time - but actually she's great at really screwing with her audience. I also like Cho in small doses, other than that I pretty much agree with that list. But that's just me...all you could say "objectively" is that they all have their shtick and an audience who likes it for whatever reason.
