As a stage tech, i gotta admit that those lights are MIND BOGGLING. That seems so goddamn awesome and i think watching these guys is a masterclass in lighting dimension and utilising space and direction effectively

Can I just say that I appreciate the fact that Graham takes the time to tag the LRR that he references during the course of the video. I do not keep up on LRR so I was glad to easily find exactly what he was talking about. Graham is best.

i saw black keys come out to the most basic of stage sets, a few rugs and a large stack of amps then 10 mins in a wall of lights came up behind them then 20 mins the wall of lights separated into 20 bars then 30 mins the bars moved up on the ends to give kind of a V shape then 40 mins they spread out to moving forwards and circling the stage then 50 mins they added color then 60 mins they added display it was mind blowing.
@GrahamStarkVlogsАй бұрын
That sounds amazing!! I forgot to mention in the video that, prior to Stress, they didn’t use any *red* in the lighting. Then it was *all* red.

17:30 I mean, when you break it down playing a piano is just pushing buttons too, but you can still be artful and expressive with it. Doesn't matter if those buttons hammer a tensioned string or trigger different bits of music

The way the red pulses of light are mirrored in the cell phones of the crowd is really compelling. All of the lighting is compelling (you are so right), but that detail is so evocative of going to a show in 2024, idk, I love it, it feels.

I didn’t go to the clock while I was in Vancouver, but if I did I would have whispered to it “at least you’re better than Plymouth Rock” because Plymouth Rock is also only a tourist attraction bc we said it was, but it’s also a normal size rock with a fence and a video camera. No tourist trap will ever be as bad as Plymouth Rock. There’s no historical significance- one guy invented it on his deathbed and then they guessed what rock it was. These lights are amazing

I believe "fall protection zone within gate" probably means "the zone within the gate requires fall protection to be worn when crew are inside it and it is restricted for passengers"? (e.g. harness or lifelines to prevent falling over the side, since you're outboard of the railing)

Hearing your top 5 makes me realize that I haven’t really done the big concert thing. I was supposed to a couple times in high school, but kept getting screwed out of being able to go. Though I did work as the lighting tech in a 300-seat opera house, so I’ve spent a significant portion of my life in concerts. My top is only 3: Mindless Self Indulgence in a 150-person bar venue in London. Crash Test Dummies at an outdoor festival in Bracebridge. Finger Eleven, also outdoors but in Windsor.

My favorite Justice mix is D.A.N.C.E/Fire/Safe and Sound from Woman Worldwide, it's just such a banger and an incredible way to close out a "live" album (it was recorded in-studio, but in the style of a live album)(it's also what IRIS uses for the soundtrack)

Saw them in Chicago. I have been thinking about the show daily since. They didnt play the second encore, but I actually got their autographs at the end of it! Both Gaspard and Xavier were walking in the area between the stage and the barricade and were signing stuff. I got lucky and got both of them! I can't fucking WAIT for their live album release. And hopefully we get a cinematic show akin to IRIS for youtube as well

Last time I saw Justice it was at a venue called the Southside Ballroom in Dallas. That venue has a big room and a smaller room attached together. But the line to get in was very long in part because there wasn't staff telling people which line went where and the act in smaller room was get this, Kendrick Lamar. It was I wanna say 2014 and he wasn't on the level he's at today but I think his second album was out and had a pretty sizable following. Even today I'm glad I saw Justice over Kendrick because they put on an amazing show like you said, but it's crazy those two acts were in the same complex at the same time.

I'm kind of jealous how close you are to cities where big concerts happen. Out here on the other side of the country, we're so far away from any "big" cities that we rarely get big concerts, and when we do, they're generally acts that appeal to an older audience.
