I personally prefer the Mafex myself, I believe he has a much better resemblance to Henry Cavill and his body looks better proportionally! I agree that neither figure is screen accurate which is a shame because it would have made the figures POP! I love your comparison videos and look forward to them often!

What is also a shame is that they aren't exactly cheap.. I think a lot of these companies could put a bit more dollars into not only creation/design, development, manufacturing..... but definitely also QUALITY CONTROL!! After all again, they aren't $9.99 figures, or even $40 figures, most of their figures are well over $90-150. For that a steel wire shouldn't be popping out, and the toes shouldn't be doing "what they feel like doing"

I also have both figures. The long neck on the SH Figuarts bothered me at first, but it's less noticeable with the head looking down. The other thing that bothered me is the very limited ab crunch. I thought it can be fixed by changing the ball joint with a longer one but it'll just leave a huge gap in his torso. For the Mafex, I also have the same problem with the left toe hinge being loose and difficult to stand. I'm even considering of gluing it permanently and just lose the toe articulation entirely.

Thanks for your input! Good to know that my mafex figure isn't the only one having these annoying issues, just fortifies my suspicion that they used the older figure mold especially for the feet instead of using the newer figure designs. Sigh, they're both SUPER IMPERFECT figures....~ Here's to hoping one would come soon and bring the character justice

if you have a shf tdk joker, just interchange their neck joints and both figures look perfect.

fixed the left toe issue by shaving down the sole and loose issue by switching out the plastic peg for a metal one using a paper clip. left toe issue i believe is on every figure of this production run. the peg hole is misaligned that's why it doesn't hinge correctly.

I have the mafex figure and prefer it. I don't care for the extra heads, they suck, but I like the sculpt of the face he comes with. The hair is wrong. I have him on a stand in a hovering pose over the justice league and he honestly looks great. Just wish he could get a tan.

Cavill's face has a lot of contours. with less light, you can see the sculpt is much more accurate than the SHF as the sculpt creates some shadows. for the most part, Cavill is very pale in most of the scenes from the movie and as pale as Ezra Miller in real life in some group photo you can find. mafex is pale, but shf is also overly red/tan. i picked up the mafex and fixed the left toe issues and perfectly happy with it.

FrankW1029 In terms of being a modern hero with a lot of action figures, Cavill is the new Mark Hamill/Harrison Ford. A very hard face to capture properly, but when it is by Hot Toys or third party heads, it looks phenomenal.

I don't own any of these but just by judging the looks, designs, and skin tones...I'm taking the SHF. Like some had said, I rather deal with the giraffe neck with the extra long cape than a Bizarro skin tone w/ no lips on the mouth and a waist/hip like a woman. Overall, I do like both figures and wouldn't mind keeping both if someone gives it to me 😉

The short scale and that God-awful alternate head is a deal breaker for me. The biggest draw of this particular figure over the Mafex one is the superior quality control. Mafex have improved considerably, I have to admit. But buying one still feels like playing Russian Roulette.

Raul Pimentel Mafex have not improved significantly they raised their prices and barely fixed anything. My JL Batman arrived with an arm peg that was too long in the left arm, a paint chip on the forehead, and a crooked left leg under the knee joint. The bottom half of the leg is angled inwards which makes him hard to stand With the price hike, that kinda shit is just unacceptable

Conspiracy TV damn that's sad to hear. There were far less complaints on the JL Batman and TDKR Batman v3.0 in our shores so I assumed that they significantly improved. I gave up on Mafex a couple of years ago due to Mezco, though I bought one or two down the line. And yeah, their price point is shitty. Add $10 more and you can get a Mezco.

Mark Tamez that alternate head looks like a zombie extra from World War Z. The pale complexion is easier to fix. Besides, Cavill is pale to begin with. It's the same as the Mezco figure.

I still think the Mafex figure looks 10x better than the SH.F! Neither one is screen accurate which is a shame but I still feel the Mafex is better! I have the Mafex JL Batman, Superman and Flash and have not had a QC issue with any of them yet and I think they are nicer looking than their SH.F counterparts, but hey......that's just MY opinion! Continue to collect gentlemen!

My mafex Superman can't stand very well either. I think he has the better eyes, jaw, and neck though. I wish Square Enix Superman was 7inches and had a wire cape. The SHF neck messes with me too much.

After checking out this comparison I think I'd lean toward the SHFA (very slightly) & try to find a shorter peg for the neck (I saw another video where somebody used a Mattel Batman peg that was shorter & fit & looked a lot better). That Mafex face (or faces) just looks really bad & the skin tone is way too light plus the toe issue is not good. The SHFA appears a bit too short IMO but could prolly cover that up some by displaying on a flight stand. Disappointing that SHFA could not come up with something much better since Mafex has been out there a while & messing up the neck peg size is weak on SHFA design team part IMO. I don't have either & not much of an incentive to get the SHFA so will wait for another version that hopefully gets things right. Thanks for the review as I was previously leaning toward Mafex.

i actually think the dc collectibles bvs superman looks bether than both of these, but has to little expresion on his face which could be improved with ey little customization however, but out of these two i think the mafex one looks bether, but theire both kinda letdowns imo, but the mafex justice leauge batmab looks sooo good, they got him right! The fact you said all those indicates you either didn't listen to the things I said about those figures OR you didn't watch the entire video. I highlighted all the problems of the mafex figure as per what you said except price point, I talked about his annoying loose toe articulation, the fact his skin tone was too light and the fact his accessories are all grumpy looking and it doesn't carry Superman's characteristics BUT i did give credit to his articulation because over the SHF, the mafex figure has a better ab crunch and bicep twist AND I mentioned that only ON PAPER, the mafex edges over the SHF figure solely because for the price you're paying to what you're getting - is a figure that has easier posaebility than the SHF figure, you get more accessories AND since it's a general release it's much easier to find than the SHF figure BUT I said in the video that IF I was given a choice, I'd pick the SHF figure over the Mafex figure based on my personal opinion, so even after saying all that, IF you still think that I'm a mafex fanboy, then like I said in the video, you're entitled to your own opinion and I am indeed a mafex fanboy in your eyes but I disagree with your comment.
