A truly great artist is one whose best work is always yet to come. I shouldn't be surprised - after all, it's Justin. But I am. To me, this is the best song I've heard in many a year (by anybody). How can a man of 75 write and sing and play guitar and every other instrument with such a freshness and heartfelt gratitude? How can his lyrics still ring true? I was 11 when I heard Nights, 13 when I heard Question, 16 when I first saw the Moodies in concert, 18 when I bought Blue Jays, 21 when I purchased Songwriter, 25 when I heard The Voice, 36 when I "Hoped and Prayed" that my future wife would say yes. I played December when I lost my father, and again when I lost my wife. So many songs, so many important moments. Now I wonder what this new song will herald. What a blessing it it to have both Justin and John Lodge still making music!
@briane1732 жыл бұрын
This evokes a lot of emotions in me. It harkens me back to my wife's and my early years after falling in love and getting married and building our family. "I gave my heart away. What else could I do?" And because of that, when she passed away my heart passed away with her. It's now a dark chasm with nothing in it. I don't know what the rest of my future here on earth holds, but I cling to the hope of being with my first and last love again when this book is written. Justin Hayward has made his mark on almost every decade I've lived. The man is a treasure and deserves more of his due than he's gotten in my estimation.

A great song. I don't know about Justin's best work always being yet to happen. He has written great songs all the way through his musical career cttcaegoaktd 😛😛😛😛😛😛😛
@johnolcott12382 жыл бұрын
@@stevenhaywood1195 I agree. I just meant that great artists are always capable of something better. Think of Beethoven's 9th at the end of his career. Totally deaf. Even Tchaikovsky's last symphony. How about Van Morrison or Louis Armstrong? Like them, Justin never rests on his laurels.
@stevenhaywood11952 жыл бұрын
@@johnolcott1238, it seems to vary. Some artists yes do produce excellent work towards the end of their musical careers John Lodge springs to mind with 10000 Light Years Ago, and Joni Mitchell with Shine, for example. @@johnolcott1238 Your original post was/is perfect. No explanation needed, for me. So many of our original 'heroes' have passed on. Dan Fogelberg hit me especially hard. Anyway, not Justin. Thank you Justin for another love song that goes straight to the heart!! I’ve been a fan of yours & the Moodies from the beginning. You never fail to write the best love songs. You and Barry Gibb are at the top. I had tickets to see you in Oklahoma City a few years back but you got sick and had to cancel. Would’ve been the first time!! Then I saw the Moodies we’re celebrating 50th anniversary of your Days of Future Past album which I still have, in Tulsa, OK Jan. 2018. I bought tickets immediately to make sure seats we’re available. But as my bad luck would happen I had to have surgery to remove my cancerous kidney on Jan. 19th the day of the concert. So had to miss that one too. I keep checking your your dates but have yet to find anything coming back to Oklahoma anytime soon. But not giving up hope yet!! I’m only 73 and hope I can fulfill my bucket list someday soon before I have to kick that bucket!! Please come back to Oklahoma!!! Thanks!!@@justinhaywardobevoiceofthemood

In this piece, Justin Hayward finds himself walking the streets where he recalls fond memories of a time when he was young, carefree, and best of all, madly in love. He detailed the inspiration behind this folky single as follows : “I’m one of a generation that as teenagers, if we were lucky, were living just for love, with the most wonderful music, freedom and optimism. We didn’t really understand at the time, but I have to celebrate those days now, while we are still here, and we remember.” Hayward, best known for his work with The Moody Blues, recorded “Living For Love” (2022) in Italy. The song arrived two years after the musician’s EP “One Summer Day / My Juliette” (2020). Mr Hayward even namechecked his 1986 hit “Your Wildest Dreams” in the lyrics : “Where moonlight on the innocence Wildest dreams were found.” Meanwhile, The Moody Blues have been inactive since 2018, the very year they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2021, singer-bassist John Lodge said : “I know the Moodys won’t tour again. I would tour, but I know Justin [Hayward] doesn’t want to tour with the Moodys, so it won’t happen.” MOODYS, YOUR MUSIC WILL REMAIN PART OF THE SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES❕ 💙🎼💙

Each time I listen to this song, I love it even more. I cannot get enough of it. Justin can surely write beautiful lyrics and the music to it. I love Justin's voice. His voice is what melted my heart, when I first heard it back in 1970 singing Nights in White Satin. I had no idea what he looked like. Let's face it, he is a very good looking man, but I had no idea what he looked like. It was his haunting voice and the song with such heartbreaking words is what caused me to love Nights. Nights touches me like no other song can. It does not matter that I bought DOFP in those early days of my youth, and that I could hear that song anytime I want to, but when it comes on the radio on Deep Tracks or Classic Vinyl, I turn the music up and let it reach my heart and soul, and, if anyone is in the car with me, they cannot utter a sound until it is over. What a treat it is in Justin uploading videos of his singing songs we love. He is really special.
