Many years ago when I was still a teenager, my mother heard me playing this song on my stereo and said that she thought it had one of the most beautiful melodies she had ever heard. She then asked me a number of questions about the singer and the band and expressed an interest in "my" music that she never had before. The exchange occurred at a time when our relationship was somewhat strained, and it really helped me realize that she was more than just an authority figures in my life, and that she was someone - a contemporary - with whom I could share a beautiful experience. She passed a few years ago at the age of 92 and we played this song at her funeral service. I'm sure she would have appreciated it. Thank you Justin for creating a wonderful song that helped my mother and I to grow closer.

I really enjoyed your story. I've always said that music from those days really changed the world. You're story is a perfect example of how it did just that. It changed your world, right? Besides for being some of the best music ever- it's spread the message of good, love, peace, and it made me the person I am and still am today some 50 years later. .

It is amazing after all these years to see all these special comments about this Moody Blues song and to see how much their music moved us and influenced us. I'm now 69 and just lost my brother 2 months ago, but I do remember us along with some close friends listening to the Moodies night after night in my bedroom. They had such an impact on our lives, even though we traveled different paths. The spiritual foundation of those times is still there in our lives. Thank you Justin for sharing this music.

Justin, I’m trying to find my own piece of mine too. And we are all the same we all the same wishes and hopes. And you’re just gonna be fine. You already are fine and don’t doubt yourself ever.😇 Don’t ever doubt how many people in this world that you have helped feel better about themselves. You are definitely one of the good guys, no matter what you’ve ever done in your past, let it go, just forgive yourself. And continue making the most wonderful music that I have ever heard. 😇 And you are worthy and deserving of what you have become. And hopefully we can all feel that way. Do me a favor, and don’t go away yet. I’ve cried too many tears for family, musicians that I’ve never known personally, and the moody blues and just how difficult life can be. You and the moody blues have helped me, survive this earthly planet. So keep doing what you’re doing. And knows that it’s appreciated so much.

I don’t think it’s maudlin at all. My father passed away unexpectedly when I was young. This song helped me through that and the aftermath, when it came out, in ways I can’t begin to explain. It has continued to help my peace of mind when I’m troubled. It’s like a wonderful, spiritual embrace.❤❤❤

I play several instruments like guitar, bass, drums and a little keyboard along with vocals but never have I reached your level of skill and never was creative enough to write music I guess but I just have to say that your music does something to my soul. I could never explain how it does but it does deeply. Some how it puts so much love in my heart and that is such a blessing to me since I am a born again Christian. I hope to meet you in Heaven someday. May God bless you. Dennis Blair from Burnet Texas.

I think when you’re feeling a little lost and overwhelmed, and you don’t know where you’re going, in this big old world, it’s comforting and reassuring to know that, like a magnet, new horizons can pull you forward. The soulful optimism of this song had this effect on me at a time of loneliness, self doubt, and a feeling of being lost, and an overall sense of bewilderment. I didn’t quite know where I was going, but I had faith that the new horizons would pull me through, and they did, and they still do. You have to believe in a better day ahead, and that’s what new horizons represent for me. Thank you Justin. You have no idea how deeply your words and music have touched people and their lives.

Probably my favorite Justin Hayward song. I really like this raw version since it really brings out the songs beautiful melody and Justin's lovely singing. For any guitar geeks out there, the spmg os in F major and the guitar is tuned to DADFAC. I've performed this song a few times but it can be tricky since unless you have two guitars you don't want to re-tune in front of an audience. Re-tuning a 12-string makes it even more of a challenge. I'd love to know how he came up with this tuning and the chords he used.

A poet that combines sound that is similar to a sunrise and birds/sounds accompanying it. I try to refrain from relativity or "the moment". In this case, I need to make an exception - brief and abbreviated. A small town in TX, traveling here...lost but hopeful, for future after greatest loss...written many words in my life on experience and hope. Now, 39 years later, I've found a great memory that provides for me a shared solace in that moment and this moment. No lament, rather a peaceful smile.
