1. I think fans are expecting an overnight miracle and unbeaten season with "Messiah" Razor - way too much pressure on the guy, more so than previous coaches. 2. Sadly Schmidt doesn't have much to work with - rugby is a dying force in Australia

What hasn't been addressed is our referees and how lax our teams have become in the super rugby format because of it. I'm not blaming the ref's, I'd say they were told from up on high to go easy on the players because it does make for a more open and exciting game and it's been going on forever. But if the last world cup showed anything it was how poorly disciplined our players were when under the purview of referees who hadn't gotten the memo. Damned embarrassing the AB's were conceding all those penalties, and worse. We need harder refs.
@lordJordNorg
@lordJordNorg 4 ай бұрын
Rubbish Nz didint have a discipline issue its a copt out for poor inconsistent refereeing across the board. There is NH/SH interpretation differences (esp the ruck)and then theres the head contact punishment protocol via red cards. If anything the ruck is more scrutinised in the south due to the desire to up the tempo and favour the attacking side. 20min red card just works all arguments against it whilst founded in good spirit are simply wrong Any match that had wayne barnes with tom foley as tmo is an outlier and not an indication of a displine issue or a problem with the standard of officiating in the SH. Wayne doesn’t rule the breakdown unless he deems it “obvious” this is to in his own words “let the game flow”. Tom likes to scrutinise every frame and make sure every transgression is held to account. So you’ve got one guy deliberately not calling and another interjecting to make sure everythings called. Both made massive mistakes and what we were left with became one of the most erratic and error ridden officiating performances in any test match let alone a final.

Joe isn’t a conservative coach despite what most think he made Leinster one of the best passing and attacking teams around. A lot of Leinster’s academy are Irish players because he would take time and visit the local clubs and share knowledge with local coaches.rugby Australia have signed one of the best coaches going. I have no doubt Australia are going to be very good come rugby championship especially because Schmidt will be sending analysis of each player their weaknesses everything and getting them into camps.

This year will be really interesting for NZ Rugby. Scott Robertson is a local hero for his multiple provincial titles, but in international terms he's a rookie with a terrible record against European opposition. The lack of proper options at lock and outhalf will harm their ability to foot it against SA especially, and it'll take some pretty adventurous thinking to turn a thin backline, without line-breaking power or a world-class kicking game, into a serious weapon able to counterbalance the absence of dominance at forward.

I think Joe has made a big mistake. Aussies hate being told what to do by Kiwis. What happened to R.Deans and D.Renee is very likely to happen to him. After Deans I expected Renee to be shafted but the how & why still surprised me. The Jones fiasco has undone much of Renee's hard work, so Joe is walking into another train crash of RA's making & will eventually be their scapegoat.

Yes but... Joe has an entirely different attitude, humility being very high in his character. He's there if they want him. If they don't, and they prefer to continue their losing ways... he's the very best choice that Aussie has and they should be (and probably will be) very grateful for his input.

@@fatbastard70 i'd like to think your right. But this "quiet humility" was said of Renee & later given as a factor in his demise.
