Aurane must join someone, it would be such a lost potential if he stays just a pirate somewhere in the Stepstones. He even made that joke about the knight of turnips!
@MagnaMater2 Жыл бұрын
Not that I want his nephew to take a bad end, but I assume he is six and might not make it through the long winter, and there might be one of GRRM's Warden-Uncle&Nephew fights. I think Aurane will be made the next Lord of the Tides and Master of Driftmark, by whoever will be King in the end, stepping in the shoes of Alyn Waters and continue his family's bloodline. He might also fall to Euron Greyjoy, if he's not already allied with him. All that are on the sea might actually be swiped away by Euron's Bloodmagic, and since Patchface said, there would be an army of drowned men, this might get very interesting. Let's not forget: behind all these politics it's a Horror-Book with undead-fractions, an there ARE meremen&maids. Davos was rescued by one.

I really, reallyy think Aurane will join Young Griff near the end for two reasons: First, Varys and Illyrio's entire plan is to cover fAegon with symbols of legitimacy to prove he is the truborn son of Rhaegar (which he clearly is not): he has valyrian appearance, has the conqueror's name, very likely has the conqueror's sword and is essentially cosplayinf Aegon's conquest by sweeping lots of easy victories and proposing alliances to whoever supports him. House Velaryon are the Targaryens oldest and most important allies, so having the support of a Velaryon (alotugh a bastard one) can contribute to make fAegon look even more like a legit Targ. Secondly, Aurane joining Griff also fits with the recurring profile of his supporters in the Shy Maid crew: people from Westeros that lost their old way of life and now can only return if Griff wins the crown. JonCon was exiled, Duck had to flee because he attacked a lords son, Haldon is called half maester so he likely was expelled form the Citadel and Lemore... well I don't have a clue about Lemore but she clearly is not a tradiotional septa so she probably also needs royal pardon. Aurane Waters is a bastard that fought on the losing side, turned his cloak and then abandoned her for his own gain. Knowing how Stannis sees turncloaks, I don't think he would forgive Aurane no matter how useful he might prove himself, but Young Griff has no reason to not accept him, hell, he could even remove Aurane's bastardy and put him on the line of sucession for Driftmark (something that Stannis would never do).

This is a very compelling theory, especially the part about seahorses probably meaning Aurane's ships. However, there is one mistake prophets in Westeros make over and over again: they assume their visions are about themselves or at least about people they personally know, when in reality they are often about people they've never even met in a completely different part of the world. That's why I'm a bit sceptical when Patchface says "we". I think it's possible he's seeing true events, but is completely mistaken about who and where. So, someone will "disappear" in the sea and then ride Aurane's fleet somewhere. But the likeliest candidate imo isn't Justin or anyone from Stannis' faction, but rather someone who is closer to the Stepstones and therefore more likely to come in contact with Aurane, someone like Aegon for instance. There are many candidates for the fool in his retinue also, like JonCon and Arianne.
@CompanyOfTheCat Жыл бұрын
I agree, in general with that! But, there are 2 reasons I am fairly sure this specific jiggle is about the conflict in the north. The mermen/mermaids bit heavily implies that the Manderlys are involved since we have seen them in other jiggles of Patches and secondly, Patch doesn't assign meaning to his prophecies. People almost always misread the prophecies and think they're about them, but people like Patch do not know they have prophetic visions and if they do no one else does and no one is trying to understand them, so I don't think that this specific problem that we see very often (Euron, many Targaryens, Mel, etc) can be applied in Patchface's case. Considering that Aurane's storyline and Velaryons, in general, are connected to any, and the existence of the mermaids in this bit, most likely is about the North. Plus, the Velaryons still support Stannis [A blaze of banners flew above them. The wind was whipping them too wildly for Jon to see the sigils, but he glimpsed a seahorse, a field of birds, a ring of flowers. And yellow, so much yellow, yellow banners with a red device, whose arms were those? (ASOS JON X)] I doubt Aurane will completely ditch them, considering that he was close to his family and the current lord is 6.

It's supposed to say "you are a beacon of light in these dark times." But my Greek is obviously piss-poor lol. Now I'm curious.. what does It translates to? Is it just bad Greek or did I say something messed up?😂
@CompanyOfTheCat Жыл бұрын
No no, I got it just ok, don't worry😂. It's just a phrase in Greek that isn't used or exactly correct, it is not wrong grammatically or syntactically, but the word beacon is used only for beacons of light, so it's kind of a pleonasm.

Please read until the End and thank you for this Video. I think I already mentioned somewhere that Davos won't return via Boat to White Harbor, primarily because of the Dangerous Waters around Skaagos. So I won't repeat it here, but I also came around to another Theory about Jon Snow's "Death". What if Jon isn't dead yet? Yes, he became unconscious, which is understandable, but we already had a Stark who survived an attempt to murder him, Bran who fell from a very high Tower and only became Paralyzed, when he actually should be dead, primarily because of Physics and Martin normally stays loyal to these rules. Bran either would die from internal Bleeding to much broken Bones, etc. problem is with medieval Healthcare he should be dead by all accounts, but he isn't. Furthermore, if Jon dies like this, it is nearly a second red Wedding just without the Wedding, because Jon is betrayed by the Men he trusted, he takes multiple "shots" into the Body like Robgetsd get a cut into the Throat like Cat. So the parallels are there and Martin really likes his parallels with a twist, what if the Twist here is: Jon isn't dead yet, but in a Coma? Like Bran after he fell? which furthermore would make the Whole Resurrection-Scenario make much easier because we already know that Melissandre is capable to do things like Mirri Maaz Duur and Mirri Maaz Duur was asked by Daenerys to save Drogo from certain death. Which then included Blood Magic, but not killing the son, they killed a Horse for that, so Melissandre doesn't need Kings Blood for that, just an Animal and she won't use Ghost because her Flames showed her that Lord Snow became a Wolf and then Lord Snow again. She at least can assume that she should not kill Ghost, because it would not help Jon if she does. Parallels with a Twist, Melissandre does the same Ritual as Mirri Maaz duur without a pregnant Wife who is brought into a Tent when she literally told them to not come into the Tent (Luckily she has a Door which can be closed and locked if needed) and this time it works as it was intended. Also, Melissandre doesn't need Jon to be actually dead, to use his Death to her advantage. She wants to show the power of her God, how did she do this until now? with Glamours, illusions, but not the real deal. To use a Magic Ritual with Songs no one at the Wall would understand what the Lyrics say, to just save a persons Life from certain Death and then claim she brought him back from the Dead, seems exactly what Melissandre would do. An illusion to trick People to do as she says. In our case, free Jon from his Vows and kick him out of the Night's Watch. Something Stannis tried but failed, she tried and failed at the first attempt, with her visions and promise to save his sister, but would succeed with this little trick. What do you think? Why do I comment under a Video about Justin Massey and his potential Shipwreck and the Archetype of a Drowned Fool, with Jon's potential death or not death Scenario? Because I honestly have nothing to add to this Idea, it is a perfect and well-thought-through Scenario. But Likes and Comments help the Creator with the algorithm from KZbin and I want to see a Notification of your next Video, which is more likely to happen if I write a Comment here. Also, I love to theorize and talk with you via Comments because I think you have a brilliant Mind that comes out with ideas nearly no one thought about yet. So thank you again for your hard work, I truly admire and appreciate it, the Reason I write off-topic Comments is: You are just too brilliant for me and I think this could happen in one way or another.

Jon still being alive is something I have thought of before too, but the last scene looks like he indeed went into Ghost, but Varamyr also was warging while ready to die, so maybe he isn't dead.

@@CompanyOfTheCat thanks for answering, I just found this Theory relatively recently and wanted to hear your thoughts on it. so I thought of sharing my Thoughts under the next Video where I have nothing to add to, because it is very much possible that it will happen that way. which is the case with this one. What I especially love about your Videos is that you call the Tropes out that Martin uses, they are just not as commonly used as other Tropes.

He's building something for House Massey, otherwise he wouldn't have added a Massey to the Velaryon and Targaryen Family-Tree recently. The first reason they are somewhat important is, that they are a First Men Kadet-House to the Starks and Strongs. Additionally they were Targaryern-supporters and close enough to the ruling clique for Alarra Massey marrying Aethan Velaryon, and getting the foremother of the Velaryorns, Targaryens, Baratheons and the Tarth-family. Massey therefore is a cousin to Aurane Waters, probably even closer than some 10th generation, I can't remember his parents named, if he's a halfbrother on the male or female side of the former Lord Velaryon, but a Massey as his mother would still be possible.

Exellent analisys as always Cat. I would have never thought of Justin as an archetype fool but it makes sense with the context, also i never saw a similar explination of Patchface's rymes before, i like it, also the idea the all the ragtag seafarers will join for a deadly adventure in the cannibal island to rescue a prince is some thing worthy of song. In regards to Arya, i'm of the opinion tha she will NOT go to the north with sassy Justin but will hear everything he has to say an that will be the beginning of the rift with the order, after all Justin won't find 20k men to send north, he probably have to go to the disputed lands to get something. If anyone is gonna help my girl be free of the Faceless Man is the most prolific rule breaker of the orden: Jaqen H'ghar, aka Arya's divine intervention (but thats my theory) Also any thoughts on what Jaqen is looking in the citadel? my money is on the glass candle.

Regarding the prognostication of shipwrecks in the ASOIAF future, what of Dolorous Edd Tollet's throwaway jibe: "Ships only sink when I'm on them"? Could this portend a doomed voyage to Essos involving our saturnine steward to occur at some point in Winds? Perhaps he is appointed to be part of a Night's Watch embassy dispatched to Braavos to secure the loan Jon negotiated with Nestoris before his death.... Merely a light gust of speculation, but something to sink the teeth of your mind into.

Nice to see a new perspective and one that isn't trolling. What's going on in the North is so wild and I have no idea what could happen. But for the Throne I think Arianne and Aegon will marry but AFTER he takes the throne in a easy war. Varys is in King's Landing and he obviously knows Tommen is a bastard but he also knows about Edric Storm. Aurane Waters, who has the royal fleet will align with Aegon and Arianne and also retrieve Edric from Lys as proof Tommen is a bastard of incest. Margaery will try to seduce Aegon but he will have to choose, Margaery and the Tyrells or Daenerys and her dragons. Surely someone will lie to him and tell him she has married a Greyjoy. Margaery may be made to marry Aurane after he is named Velaryon in the name of his king. Cersei is beheaded for her crimes against the crown, incest and infidelity, and killing the king Robert I. Edric will be named Edric Baratheon and named Lord of the Stormlands. Arya will probably be sent to kill Aurane but ultimately she is going to the Riverlands to kill the Freys and, if possible, given the kiss of life to bring back Jon Snow with a kiss, escorted by Jaime Lannister. Brianne dies Tommen is forced to join the faith, Marcella will marry Aurane possibly (I know I said Margaery but this is a possibility too)

@@CompanyOfTheCat your welcome 🤗 can't wait to see what other theories you have. The only reason I say fAegon sits the throne is because of all the work of Varys and Illyrio. Although, Illy dropped the ball by letting Daenerys have all 3 dragon eggs and he had Aegon in his back pocket. It's also a way to fix the Stormlands and add some stability till Daenerys gets there. Aurane or Aegon will probably be Arya/Faceless Men kills
@helenrose5383 Жыл бұрын
Aurane and Jon has some similarities,both are bastards with bastardized titles- Lord of the Waters and Lord Snow, one resembles Rhaegar and the other Lyanna/Ned, both has their really young brothers as the lords of their houses. Like how Stannis offered to legitimize Jon as Lord Stark, he might offer to legitimize Aurane over the current 6 year old Lord Velaryon!
@CompanyOfTheCat Жыл бұрын
Yup, in general, there are many similarities there, Aurane it's obvious was playing Cersei's admirer so he can remain alive and Stannis pardoned a lot of lords who bent the knee to Renly if indeed Aurane helps them, and Stannis is still alive at that point I can see him being pardoned just fine.
@theduxabides9274 Жыл бұрын
I wonder if Aurane will help Aegon as opposed to Stannis? Young Griff has already been set-up as a Daeron I-type figure, between his "you have a dragon" quote, his youth, and his out-of-the-box planning compared to his advisors (invading Westeros instead of waiting for Dany, most likely taking Storm's End by guile). Having another 'Young Dragon' team up with a Velaryon bastard would be particularly fitting, esp. since Aurane holds the Stepstones and could retrieve the Golden Company's scattered forces there, while Aegon's authority as king would allow him to legitimize Aurane and potentially recognize his control of the Stepstones, which combined with Aurane already controlling the Royal Fleet would represent a huge resurgence in the fortunes of House Velaryon. Another reason why I think Aurane might support Aegon as a Alyn Oakenfist parallel is the situation brewing in Dorne. I have the feeling that the Reach civil war plot of GoT might actually have been a stand in for a Dornish Civil War; Areo Hotah notes in his ADWD chapter that many of Doran's guests do not toast King Tommen, and with Doran's scheme being unknown to all except Arianne and maybe lords Fowler and Yronwood, I could see Doran being murdered as a false flag to allow the Dornish to declare war on Cersei. If that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised if Aegon intervenes to restore Arianne to power, and Aurane sails up the Greenblood like his ancestor Oakenfist. We know Arianne had help in her Myrcella plot from some of the Orphans, and Aegon's ties to Yandry and Ysilla could pay off in this situation.

My guess is Wyman will offer Aurane, Wynafryd's hand in marriage in exchange for his ships and his help. Aurane and Wynafryd and roughly the same age with him being 22 and her being 20. Not to mention with her father Wylis now a prisoner, Wynafryd is set to inherit White Harbor after Wyman passes, which would be a valuable prize for bastard like Aurane. Perhaps this is what Patchface meant when he mentioned seahorses and mermaids.
