19:00 Correction ----> He didn't get that Summer is inside the cave, I am not even sure if Summer is inside the cave at that point, or if they are with Coldhands since the chapters are not exactly linear. But he does understand that he is north of the wall, that's why he doesn't have a sense in the beginning and why he says that the other side is even colder.

χαῖρε! Yes, Ghost is a Weirwood made flesh. A literal "Wier-Wolf". In Anglo-Saxon, the word "Were-" means "Man", which makes a "Werewolf" a "Man Wolf"/"Wolfman". That's just the sort of wordplay GRRM loves, and it's a perfect description for Jon & Ghost's relationship. Two sides of the same coin, white & black, wolf & dragon, ice & fire. Ghost Lives!

Now knowing how much knowledge and potential power resides in Ghost I'm really hoping some interesting revelations come to Jon through skinchanging. Amazing video! thank you for this Video, I still hope I am right and Jon is not dead, just unconscious because GRRM hates repetition and we nearly have a point-for-point repetition of the Red Wedding with Jon's Massacre. And because I personally think we have enough Wights in the Story which have consciousness we don't need another one. I also hope that Ghost at least lives until the last Book, it will be the saddest Moment of the Books when Ghost dies. Recently I saw a Channel that wondered why their Views are decreasing, actually, I think it is because they don't add something new to the Fandom, they just repeat what was said for nearly 12 years since the last Book came out. So thank you for adding so much new stuff and new perspectives to this Fandom. You are a treasure and we appreciate your content very much.
@CompanyOfTheCat

Hmmmm, I am not sure that George hating repetition is the case per se. He loves patterns and parallels and retelling stories every time differently, but essentially very similar. Especially in ASOIAF, he does it all the time. The scene where Jon dies is actually a direct parallel and repetition with the book's prologue, where Varamyr dies. "Before their hearts could beat again he had passed on, searching for his own, for One Eye, Sly, and Stalker, for his pack. His wolves would save him, he told himself. That was his last thought as a man." "Jon fell to his knees. He found the dagger's hilt and wrenched it free. In the cold night air the wound was smoking. "Ghost," he whispered. Pain washed over him. Stick them with the pointy end. When the third dagger took him between the shoulder blades, he gave a grunt and fell face-first into the snow. He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold …"
@Ilargizuri
@Ilargizuri Жыл бұрын
@@CompanyOfTheCat Right he loves his patterns, but there is always a Twist he never repeats something point for point and I don't have Varamyrs Death in my Head, but I don't doubt that you are right. But that would mean we have 2 occassipns were the POV dies and the actions are repeated and it ends in the same way. It would be actually a nice change if Jon survives in a less magical way, I don't need more Wights. Coldhands and LSH are enough for me.

@@AzureFyre8967 yeees! I remember I had said something similar in my video about the wolf dreams. There must be a reason for the word warg and why Jojen said specifically to Bran to be a greenseer you need to be a warg. Not just skinchanger, a warg.

Remember Jon unselfishly gives over any claim he might have had to one of the pups to his cousins ( he thinks brothers and sisters) so that the wolves can live, and that his cousins will be happy. he saves the lived of the pups, then finds Ghost, the different one, the way Jon is the different one. A reward for being generous or kind, as in so many folk tales? As we know, he's Lyanna's son, and she was the most "wolf blooded". So perhaps the most psychic of the pups "chose " him?

Jon is like a hero in a folktale, the third son or the fool or the child of a poor widow - he sets out on an adventure and advances when he shows kindness and humility. I mean, I don't think it's a matter of theorizing as far as Jon warging into Ghost goes, GRRM said it very clearly twice in ADWD that wargs and skinchangers after their death go into their animals, in the prologue we saw it happen and Bloodraven explained it too, in Bran's chapters. The only thing he didn't do was break the third wall and have someone say "Hey Jon went into Ghost!". What happens after is the question. I hope he will not die, leave the wolves alone, please!

The Raven/Moon is 100% Brynden. I've heard the theory that Bloodraven is Warging into Ghost and when I heard it I believed it at the time, but I like this so much better. Ghost is a 'Wolfseer,' Greenseers for Direwolves. Bloodraven might be talking to Ghost, maybe how Ghost knew where the dragonglass was, but I don't think he's controlling his actions. In fact, I think Ghost dislikes Brynden, given how he tried to run from the Moon calling him, though that might have just been the representation of Jon hearing the Raven irl. Maybe both! What most people attribute to Bloodraven warging Ghost is likely just Ghost being 'smarter' than his siblings due to his Wolfsight. As for Jon's resurrection, I actually think that Jon's soul will stay anchored in Ghost, he'll just be Warging into his own animated body to control it, but because he's anchored in Ghost it's inherently temporary, but repeatable, especially if Ghost is helping him. Maybe even Ghost will Warg into Jon's body and leave Jon stuck in Ghost's body sometimes, though I would think Ghost would find it uncomfy. Edit; I've got a much better name than a 'Wolfseer' for what Ghost is. He's a Weirwolf.
@CompanyOfTheCat
@CompanyOfTheCat Жыл бұрын
The "Brynden is skinchanging into Ghost" theory, never clicked with me tbh, first of all, it is pointed out explicitly that people can feel even if someone is inside the same animal, both Bran and Varamyr say it and I doubt we wouldn't have even the slightest of hints. And second I really do not vibe with the everyone is Brynden/Bran theories😂 Now, Ghost can communicate with Bran from what we saw, so speaking with Bloodraven too, isn't that crazy. As for the Raven is either Bloodraven or some skinchanger that died and went into it, or both. But I am not sure Ghost has a problem with it, the rest of the time the Raven is always with Jon and him, and he doesn't have a problem, I think the annoyance in the dream and in some other instances has to do more with the fact that the Rave annoys Jo, so Ghost can feel it.
@wanderingshade8383
@wanderingshade8383 Жыл бұрын
@@CompanyOfTheCat Huh yeah, I wasn't thinking about the fact that Ghost is chill with the Raven the rest of the time. So it probably was just Ghost feeling Jon's annoyance. But I do think that Brynden wasn't just talking through the Raven to Jon while he was asleep, I think he was simultaneously talking to Ghost/Jon in their dream. But, if it was just the Raven physically, then its veeeery interesting that Ghost heard it as the Moon talking. Either a) Ghost associates the Moon with Bloodraven or b) Ghost associates the Moon with Jon. B is far more interesting to me, though I do think A is more likely.

Imo I think it could be talking about Ghost no longer being able to sense Greywind... Talking about the 1 of the 4 remaining wolves may be talking about Greywind, we already know Lady is dead, & at the Red Wedding Robb & Greywind were killed, so Ghost no longer being able to sense Greywind would make sense in ADWD - Jon l... Ghost knows that Nymeria is in the Riverlands with her super pack, Shaggy Dog is in Skaggos, & Ghost senses that Summer is somewhere the wind is even colder (beyond the Wall).
@CompanyOfTheCat

It is possible I guess. I said, I believe it's about Summer mostly, bc Ghost when Lady passed away, he knew it, he didn't have the feeling that he couldn't sense her, also The Wall blocks the Wi-Fi kind, so I wouldn't find it weird if he couldn't sense Summer, easily (like with Jon when he was over the wall).

Blood Raven is using Ghost to guide Jon where he needs to go. My Thoughts on will ghost die. Is no. I hope. Jon is in Ghost. But he doesn’t fully understand or know how to use his Warg powers. About Ghost being skinchanged, I am not that sure, bc he would be able to sense something when inside him. It seems like it is only Ghost's along with Jon's emotions in all the dreams. Bran and Varamyr moth comment that if someone is inside the animals you can sense them. The raven tho, someone is using it FOR SURE! Like, there is no way it is a normal raven (as normal as they can be since Bran and Bloodraven say some pretty weird stuff about them) PS. George, leave Ghost alone, I still have PTSD from Grey Wind's death.
@Sienisota
@Sienisota Жыл бұрын
@CompanyOfTheCat I'm thinking the raven has been some skinchanger's second life. That it has had a CotF in it even before it got a dead skinchanger. I think it has started to have its own intelligence after so many minds have melted in it, and its looking for more skinchangers in the Watch, looking for them out of instinct. As it has had several skinchangers, it is accepting for any greenseers who want to look through it's eyes. I think sometimes when Jon calls for Ghost and the raven shows up, it's because Jon is subconsciously using his warging/skinchanging ability when calling for Ghost, and the Raven instinctively reacts to that call. And that's why Mormont from the house with a sigil of bear, got the raven as a friend: likely his house has skinchangers that can skinchange into bears. The raven is drawn to him as he either is, or has potential to be, a skinchanger. Someone is sometimes looking through the Raven's eyes. But by now, the raven has its own intelligence as well, making it look and offer itself for any skinchanger at the Wall. Having human memories making it more human like.

I’m curious what shadow binding might entail, is it possible his shadow could’ve been bound to tormund making them of “one mind” (something Jon said to tormund that they must be before the meeting). Plus he thought several times that Mel predicted the letter and at the end of that prediction she said once you have your answers call to me. Plus George said in an interview asking about Jon’s death, “oh you think he’s dead?” Then asked if mance rayder was dead as well as response to a follow up question
@CompanyOfTheCat

But if he is into Ghost like all wargs, then he isn't exactly dead. As I said in another answer as well, it's not a matter of theorizing as far as Jon warging into Ghost goes, GRRM said it very clearly twice in ADWD that wargs and skinchangers after their death go into their animals and have a second life, in the prologue we saw it happen and Bloodraven explained it too, in Bran's chapters. The only thing he didn't do was break the third wall and have someone say "Hey Jon went into Ghost!". A Dance with Dragons - Prologue Varamyr was inside the owl, inside the hare, inside the trees...His wolves would save him, he told himself. That was his last thought as a man. A Dance with Dragons - Bran III "A woman, of those who sing the song of earth," his teacher said. "Long dead, yet a part of her remains, just as a part of you would remain in Summer if your boy's flesh were to die upon the morrow. A Dance with Dragons - Jon XIII Jon fell to his knees. Only the cold … There is a setup since the prologue of the book, that wargs when they die go into their wolf and have a second life, so technically they aren't dead. The prologue and the last chapter of ADWD have the exact same ending basically, it seems like a direct parallel to me tbh. We also met Coldhands, I don't think that Tormund has a place in the equation here.

The wolf dreams very much remind me of Tel'aran'rhiod from WoT. Ghost being the master of it or some kind of wolf/animal equivalent a Greenseer is fascinating. Why would greensight etc only be reserved for humans in what is essentially a druidic/pagan religion though? I think the duality of Ghost & Shaggydog is very important too. We are told red & green eyed people are born who become greenseers it seems this could also be the case for the wolves. Both wolves also remind me of Nighteyes from the Farseer series by Robin Hobb. Shaggydog has the exact same colouring but Ghost & the entire situation plus characters at the wall give me huge vibes GRRM is going to recreate Fitz Farseers resurrection (Nighteyes was a vessel that didnt die upon Fitz' witted - analogue to warg/skinchanging - consciousness returning to his healed/treated body). The only trouble I see with Rickon, Jon & their wolves if ever reunited is Rickon is going to be basically feral along with Shaggydog. I can see it coming down to a fight between the wolves to assert dominance before Rickon can be "tamed" himself. This also would mirror the farseer series as its main character Fitz loses himself to the wild witted magic living as a wolf but in a human body. He has to be taught to be human again by Burrich an incredibly strong witted character who refuses to embrace the magic. I see Borroq as the Burrich parallel who helps return Jon to his body & stops any overly Wolflike characteristics taking over. He possibly sticks around in the narrative to do the same with Rickon or Jon having learned from Borroq performs the task himself. Borroq hanging around in the lichyard is too perfect for him not to be the one to dig up Jons body like Burrich did in my opinion plus Borroq & Burrich names are to similar.
