Why does the part of "Trade Price -> Price Limit Of" need to input the price higher than a few cent of Ask Price? Can I input equal the ask price? Thank you.
@JustinBenderCPM8 жыл бұрын
@Ben Morrison: When I place the purchase limit order a couple cents above the ask, I am expecting the order to fill immediately (so it shouldn't take longer than a few moments). In effect, I am placing a market order that is insured in the unlikely (but possible) scenario where there is a short-term glitch in the market price of the ETF during the trade, causing the price to soar to an unreasonable level (the limit order stops me from overpaying for the ETF shares).

The info is good, but the music is way TOO LOUD! Please use it as a "background" (way far back), and your presentation will greatly improve. Thanks for ..... errr listening :-)

@Jackie Kerouac: Thank you for the comments - you're definitely not the first one to bring this up. I've already asked the video editors to lay off the music volume for future videos (the CIBC and RBC videos should be much more tolerable ;)

Thank you for this, I just took the plunge and opened an investorline rrsp account, only starting now at 34, a bit late but better than never I guess. Bought my first 3 ETFs went with VFV 35%, VCN 20% and XAW 35% split.

Just to add as well that, I'm not comfortable taking my money to an investment advisor or firm, so your blog and canadian couch potato has proved to be a great resource of and way of learning about index investing. I really appreciate that you are sharing this knowledge.

@ed3dfx: Your percentage amounts only add up to 90% - was there an additional ETF that you purchased? 55% of XAW also includes US stocks, so I just wanted to make sure that you wanted this exposure, as you also hold VFV (which is 100% US stocks).
@ed3dfx7 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, I mistakenly typed 35% for XAW which is in fact at 45%. I knew I was getting US stocks as well in XAW, is this bad or pointless to do so? My thinking was I'll have some in Canada, some in US and some in World(also including US). Thanks :)

so my total exposure for US stocks is around 59.7% of the porfolio unless I messed something up. I can see now that it may be a bit heavy on US stocks, I guess I don't really need VFV then.

@ed3dfx: Most investors will get their equity exposure from just VCN and XAW (similar to the Canadian Couch Potato portfolios: canadiancouchpotato.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CCP-Model-Portfolios-ETFs-2016.pdf )

For those investors who aren't comfortable managing their own portfolio, I would recommend staying clear of Investors Group.
