Looks delicious Sweetie!! Just a little advice if you slice your roast with small openings and put your garlic cloves in the holes and it flavors your roast while cooking. Have a blessed and beautiful day.

December 26, 2023 - A few weeks ago I found this recipe and thought I'd try it for Christmas dinner. I read the many posts about "NOT" using the cranberries and had to debate about using it as well, since it did not sound appetizing for the recipe. When the big day arrived I went forward, adding it to the recipe and I am thankful I did. This recipe came out perfect using the cranberries and gave a slight hint of sweetness to the end results. Thanks Justine !

Last year for my Christmas dinner, I did this with a pork tenderloin with Cranberry Orange relish that Publix makes & used Chinese 5 Spice for seasoning... It was the most delicious thing I have ever had for Christmas dinner! My house smelled like Christmas for days! Will have to try it with beef.. Thanks for sharing all your creative & easy ideas!

I would definitely try this. I make pot roasts regularly, usually on a bed of root vegetables and make my own sauce I put over it. But The cranberries intrigues me! And the butter tho I would use less. It’s my husband’s favorite meal. Now he loves cranberries, I usually use just a 2 lb roast. It’s just us. This looks too interesting to pass up! Thanks! 🥰🎄🇺🇸

Not searing the roast before putting it in the crockpot makes it dry on the inside because the juices within the meat did not keep it moist enough. It looks over cooked and dry, even with the other ingredients.

Instead of garlic, you can use whole cloves but it has to be inserted into the meat. Figure about 3 cloves per pound. Go easy on the cloves as they are a strong spice. Then use half a cup of water and a cup of merlot wine. Dont use rosemary with whole cloves as it will be to over powering.

Not to mention you don't need all that broth. Just the French onion mix, cranberry and a couple of tablespoons of butter then it will make its own juices. Just like in making Mississippi pot roast. It's going to be too soupy with that much broth.

I don't get the cranberry sauce, the butter stick, or cooking a nicely marbled roast on high. It is "tender" because of the fat marbling, but you can see the meat itself isn't juicy but rather dry looking. Just isn't how I would personally go about making a roast in a slow cooker.
