I think a lot of those guys sometimes watched MTV or VH 1 to see how many rotations their hit videos were on during the night. 3:37 I could actually visualise Axl watching this in the early 1990s at his Hollywood hills mansion, 2am just got out of the spa wearing leather underpants Jim Bean bottle between his legs aviator sunglasses the old cathode ray colour tv and contemplating actually doing the fight. That song they had called Get in the Ring pretty much sums up early 90s LA rock's ego.

On the one hand I miss the feuds and in general those soap operas that surrounded some rock bands. Rock Theater. Larger than life. On the other hand, I find it laughable and completely uninteresting today. I mean who gives a shit. How about making music? I only found it interesting at the time because I was a kid. This rock period and the media exploitation of these conflicts came at exactly the right time for me.
@bradford_shaun_murray2 жыл бұрын
3:37 this seemed bigger than Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 at the time. There was a lot of anger around in the early 90s during that grunge overtaking hard rock/glam period. Rock in the 90s was confused yet still interesting in parts cause it was going into the indie period after 20 years of record label supergroups.

I think to americans, if you are a punk its just like, weak, not trustworthy, no good, scummy etc generally. "i aint no punk ass bitch" for example lol. whereas we just think of punk music. I remember the feud between nirvana and GnR and I am really happy theyr all chill now. Dave Grohl gave axl his chair to sing from when axl broke his leg, and I believe axl gifted Dave a nice guitar too. Grohl has performed with GnR on stage and also both Duff and Slash have done stuff with Grohl so, stuff like that makes me happy. We forget how young some of these people are and how immature we used to be especially if you are given fame and fortune and get publicly disrespected, we see the same crap on twitter feuds these days between "celebs". Childish bs, just focus on your music and art and making the best stuff you can, doesnt matter what other bands think.

That must be a very old clip, since Gillan and Purple put out an album last year. Don't know if Richie Blackmore is still in the band, though, but they both have fairly extensive solo careers. I'm going to find out, though. Gillan's solo albums are actual treasures and get them all if you can, is my advice. Unless you loved Coverdale more....I followed him too, and Tommy Bolin. Too bad Bolin died so young. His solo career revved up right before he OD'd on heroin and died. Justin, you should talk about Purple for one of your shows. Such an important band!
