They're back! Blink-182 are back with their new song "EDGING". Now, I do apologise in advance if I got the premise of this song completely wrong. Please, I need your help understanding this whole thing. What is this song about?! What's happening?!

The song really grew on me. At first I thought it was average, but now I can’t stop listening to it. I really love Mark’s harmony breakdown at the end, and its great to hear Tom’s vocals once again. Im also excited because some of the best tracks off Neighborhoods were the non singles. And Tom’s last two Angels albums have been some of his best work creatively in years. I remember when Neighborhoods first came out and many fans were lukewarm on the record. But I’ve found in recent years its actually quite good. Their Dog Eating Dogs EP also had some bangers.

agreed on both D.E.D and NEIGHBORHOODS. Even if She Falls slaps sounds like something straight off self titled or like a possible b side to ALWAYS. almost every hook/chorus on neighborhoods is super catchy and pretty memorable, its mainly a few of the verses that imo hold some of the songs down, but i enjoy every chorus and remembered/memorized them faster than any others i think, which i dont even think is the case for every one of their other albums. and yes! Ive been relistening to dogs eating dogs after not having run through it since maybe a year after it came out and its grown a hell of a lot on me. The B side of neighborhoods as a whole is really the next logical step in sound after s/t. w. california its like they got matt and played it as safe as humanly possible with like a straight 20 song album of enema/toypaj simplicity. some catchy songs...but its hollow! and then NINE is 98% trash, which sucked because after darkside came out i was really thinking that matt was coming into the toms shoes roll finally! but no! got an album full of songs i want to skip :[ and this song is growing more and more on every listen, ESPECIALLY after they rereleased it w a bass boosted EQ, to me making the instrumental sections sound 100x better w such a tiny change. if this is any indicator of the album, im pumped! the singles are usually my least faves on the albums with blink! so ive got high expectations [even tho i should learn not to at this point]. theyrr already seeming like better buds than in the last 25 years and already cracking jokes in song titles and promos! im really hoping for an untitled era sound. that album is a pop punk/alt emo masterpiece

Blink have never claimed they were musical geniuses. They described their music as nursery rhymes played fast, people like that and it is catchy. They mixed it with adult humour and it stuck contrast during a time when it was a new genre. I think they are in a point in their life where they can live their life without worrying and go back to enjoying life and write songs like they used too.

Hey Justin, to answer your questions! 1. The american way to pronounce is one eighty two, but the English way is one eight two, because of how we both pronounce numbers in that way. Blink have recognised this and admitted both are right 2. Even though there's nothing about 'edging' in the song, it will still be sexually related as a joke, as the whole campaign for their comeback was based on a pun about 'come' and 'coming' 3. It's funny you ended with a song called peggy sue, as that's also an old blink song :D

This single oddly grew up on me in the end. At first, I hated it, so I listened back to TOYPAJ. But after coming back to their previous albums, this one felt like they are actually doing nostalgia without any bad tensions or forcing themselves creating it. Mind you this is coming from a guy who really likes Neighbourhood. It's like they've finally realized they can just continue making songs without forcing too much of their other projects, it would still be cool implementing AvA synths and guitar effects tho. I am excited to what their next single is going to be, but I am sure not a fan of Feldmann's production. His last great work was ONE OK ROCK's Ambition album. He does not fit in with the pop punk sound these days, it's too clean.

Great show in Wellington. You sang like a champ and did your Angus Young impersonation on the security guards back right past me. I wanted to pinch your bum but instead I pulled out the old dog'n'bone and got a blurry snap or two. You also clapped along with you feet whilst upside down which was hilarious. Thanks for taking "not taking it seriously" seriously. I smiled a lot. Rufus broke a drum head during a particularly ferocious drum passage, that's live music is it not? The whole band was mint. Splendid.

Hey Justin, I was just wondering if there was anything you could do to get rid of the distortion when you play the lower more bassy notes. I know this is the apitimy of 'First World Problems' in my life 😂 But I think it would make everything sound so much better. For example: The second 'Againnnn' in your theme tune sounds very distorted. Apart from that this whole channel is pure quality. I've always considered myself the worlds biggest Queen fan and since rediscovering The Darkness recently I think this is the first time in over half my life I've found a band that I love just as much. Can't wait to see you guys live! Lots of love and all that jazz, Jake. P.S. Loved the Gunter video 😝 I thought I was the only one in the world who appreciated his genius haha. Oh P.S.S. Blink 1(eighty)2 is my life-long, all-time favourite Band. I've loved them for 25 years. I've seen them perform live a handful of times. Their peak era in the late 90s/early 00s helped me get through my formative years. I fully supported Tom when he left to start his "to the stars" thing. I've even read his sci-fi books he co-wrote. (and I cant wait for first-contact) Alkaline Trio is good, but I was never a fan of Skiba-era Blink. They should've gone by a different band name for those years. I'm beyond psyched to see Tom back in the band, but having said all that; this song ain't it for me... its pretty weak-sauce. It rivals the bland Skiba-era songs. I'm holding out hope that the new album will be good. I'll definitely buy it, but this new single just isn't doing it for me... :\

I like the song but the production I do have an issue with. They two lads are autotuned to the point that it's hard to distinguish who is singing what when they sing together. 9:04 Weezer once made a song called "Starlight". The chorus contains the lines "The pain you felt has burdened you / You can't feel loved", but Rivers decided to add these stupid hand claps during those lines and completely destroy the mood he was trying to convey. It was recorded during the sessions for the Green Album, but thankfully it was not included in the final album - it was released as a B-side to "Hash Pipe" in the UK and the Netherlands.

First time i heard the song thats what i thought too. I just went and looked up the lyrics because getting them from this "2022 produced" track alone was too hard. Best i can get is that they are singing about how they only half arse everything, particularly relationships. They sing along about hitting the road and leaving the broken hearted. So im guessing it's "edging" in the sense of never going the full way with someone or something. Not putting your heart into it but still doing the act anyway.

THE MEANING: The Title EDGING is relevant cause their campaign was all-about THEY ARE COMING (BACK) with the wordplay on cum & EDGING was a RELEASE but we still have to hold the excitement it in for a few months until another release, album etc... The fact that Tom came back, definitely made the world go into a climax state. Thought is was obvious but recon you have had to have knowledge of the promo announcement videos. Big props to their whole team, the promo was so good & they rolled it out in a week with the video shoot on monday, the release of they are cuming video on tuesday, the song on friday & the video soon after. Big props to lyrical limonade for doing that video on such a short time. That's all there is but love to read down in the comments edging is also the fencing of your garden for bunnies, that's hilarious double meaning.
