I'm reacting to another guitar virtuoso today by the name of Marcin. Sometimes I don't really know how to react to these players, they're so talented it's rather hard to comprehend. The copyright bots were so strict on me with this video, I could only play about 5 seconds at a time without getting flagged sadly. So, I'm sorry, it irritates me as much as it does you.

You know that Marcin has a classical education. You know that. Marcin once said that he is bored with classical performances because it is boring to play the same thing over and over again, so he remakes everything classical in his own way because he enjoys playing it all differently.

He was a classical guitar prodigy playing some of the most difficult pieces at age 10, thus his massive technique. Felt constrained by traditional classical music and switched to steel string, adding the percussive techniques he uses so well. A true genius.

There are few things in my life that I've been part of or have learned the dynamics of how something was formed, built, or works I classify as having the "wow" factor. I was there during the birth of my children and that was a definite wow. I have seen buildings and carved statues that was a wow. When I learned and saw what it takes to get a rocket, a shuttle, and humans in space I was like, "wow!" Over the past couple of weeks I watched a short with Marcin on AGT. As a fellow bass and guitar player myself I was just like the folks in that crowd on the show. I was blown away. So I had to see if this was real. Going though countless videos, shorts, and reactions from content creators, I come to realize he is the real deal. He at the young age of 22 is already a legend in my opinion and a WOW!

Many reactors are confuzed what is he even doing, and many think he is using some tricks or something, not being able to wrap their heads around how insainly skilled he is to be able to do this all for real.

You are so right in that, guitar players are definitely getting better. One huge reason is channels like yours. Youngsters (I am 65 so others become youngsters by default) see this, hear this and start to copy it. This guy, however, is from other LEVELS (not level). Ever so seldom, you see an unbelievable talented person, performing like this. I saw Tommy Emmanuel a few times, saw Jan Akkerman, Paco di Lucia (and some others) and some others on that level. This guy raises the bar higher and higher. Unbelievable!!!!

This dude has crazy talent! I find it interesting how a few people in the comments think it's boring or bad... Maybe they're jealous that they don't have one tenth of his talent, or their taste in music is the opposite of eclectic? 🤷‍♀️ Haven't heard of Marcin until now. Checked out his other stuff on YT and realised he was on America's Got Talent. I really like his rendition of SOAD's "Toxicity". Acoustic guitars are harder on the hands than electric. I used to own a cheap electric, but hardly played it as I preferred the acoustic sound.
@michaelkenner3289
@michaelkenner3289 Жыл бұрын
I'd never call it bad, but I do find it a little boring. He's obviously very talented and come up with a set of very cool tricks. I don't think he's found anything interesting to do with those tricks though. After "wow, that's cool" he doesn't really prompt any other reaction. Massive respect for the man and his skills, but after sitting through three minutes of playing guitars unconventionally, I'm not planning on watching more of his performances. Though if you're enjoying it, then awesome. He's clearly having fun performing it and if you're enjoying watching it, what more could anyone ask for. Not my thing though.
@pureamoursoul
@pureamoursoul Жыл бұрын
Fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we all have different interests. It's not just his "tricks" that I think are interesting, but his arrangement of the songs he covers. He puts his own spin on it, which I think sounds aesthetically pleasing. Also, one person being able to create that amount of sound with precision in their live performance is impressive to me. Makes me curious about what he could do with composing 100% original material. Anyway, there's stuff I find boring that others might not e.g. some of my friends like to stay inside and play board games all day. I can only join them for an hour max before I get bored to death! I'd rather be outside enjoying the good weather on the beach or going for a bush walk.

Picking up steam since the early 1980s. Michael Hedges did this style better and with more feeling. Playing well in this style is only half the equation - composing intelligently is where it's at. Fingerstyle guitarists these days are super talented but seem obsessed with the showy moves and excessive tapping.
@MedalionDS9

@@sea-ferring Yes I am familiar with Michael Hedges, but I am talking about when it became a style you saw on the Internet... Then more and more artists broke out in the early and mid 2000's.

I'm gonna say that the reason it feels like guitar players are getting better is that these kinds of virtuoso performances translate much better to a 5 minute KZbin video than they do to a whole albums worth of songs (where you can't see what's going on) or a live performance (where again you're not going to pick up on the subtleties of what's going on very well). Also so many KZbin tutorials and videos of others playing to inspire people to do crazier and crazier stuff.

IMO there's room for it all and it’s extremely important to keep the spirit of technical instrumental mastery alive. It most definitely has its place, and at the dawn of AI I'm just sincerely appreciative and respectful that some are still taking the time to learn and master physical instruments at a higher technical level than ever before.. There's just no denying it's bonkers talented.

Brings back memories of Andy McKee The OG YT guitar player doing such things. Back when YT was new, and no one really knew what to do with it. Before people did it on a professional level. With layers, and pro set ups. He just had one guitar a microphone and a insane talent. He was one of the first doing insane stuff with guitars. To me, he will always be where it all began.

The bonfire is a metaphor for the spontaneous combustion of guitar mortals' aspirations as we watch and listen to this musical mastery.

I just watched this guy play Kashmir and I was thinking Jimmy Page must get a headache every time he hears this guy and wonders how many hands he has

Hi Justin 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 just found Marcin in my feed. He's truly Gifted with lots of practice and a natural flow for him. He started studying that type of picking style at age 9. He looks 15. But actually 23 ! Enjoyed your critique. Instant Subscriber ❤

Yes indeed, Marcin is super impressive. (and I rarely call anything "super") This guy blows my mind. And I thought Malmsteen was it back in the day.

We booked Antonio Forcione a few times in a bar in London in the early 2000s. Guitarists like these are awesome to watch live.
