Like many of us Australians, the first time I saw Southern River Band live was at your gig at the Enmore Theatre last year. I was totally blown away by this band and I've seen them play several times since. They instantly brought to the mind the classic rock and roll I grew up on (many decades ago). I'm old enough to be their grandma, but every time they play near me you will find me in the front row dancing my Docs off. Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful band to my attention.

This has Thin Lizzy absolutely written all over it at the beginning of the song - Are you ready (to rock)?? Also shades of Zeppelin's Rock And Roll. Then it moves into that bluesy groove. Pure class. Been a long lonely time for a band like this for sure! Love it!

@@johnny88sunday Lizzy toured Australia in 1978 and played the steps of the Opera House a few months after the release of both Live and Dangerous and Face to Face. 1980 was the earliest release I could see for Are You Ready. then I saw that it was part of the Opera House set I do learn something new every day. @@aaronleverton4221 Not the same riff at all. Great band tho, what memories of listening to Take the Long Line in 78'-80' in a club we used to frequent in Lekeitio, a small fishing village in the Basque Country. I not specialist or musician, but I have almost 50 years and I’ve listening everything you imagine. I had the same feeling about the band: AC DC from 70’s with Bon Scott, blues like Steve Ray Vaughan and the insane guitars from Status Quo. This guys are extremely fucking good. I have since seen them twice more when they come to Brissie and I tell ya - Stan Qualen slaps hard when they are live. I always manage to find myself hard up against the stage and just about lose my head every time. They should be headlining stadiums and when that day comes, I hope the be that old bitch on the barrier that goes to all their Aussie shows. They are on repeat on my Spotify, I've lost track of all the SRB shirts I have... My kids know exactly who SRB are and I have two under 2!! It should be mentioned the chemistry between Cal and all his band mates on stage is nothing short of electrifying, captivating and soul grabbing. I was just cruising KZbin to check out a couple of music vids when I came across this one of yours Justin (actually have become a fan of your 'Justin Hawkins rides again' channel :) ) ...anyway, the title "Now This Is A Proper F***ing Rock Band" made me think ok, lets check this out, and low and behold it is someone I actually know!!! I know these guys from the local music scene here in Perth (Fremantle in particular) and Cal is, in real life, pretty much how you describe him. And his outfit (or lack thereof) is how I last saw him when he and a couple of the guys dropped in to Mojo's (a great small venue in Fremantle) after a gig I think. The place was packed and suddenly there he was, larger than life and shirtless, wearing an outfit similar to the one in this vid you' reacted to which I found hilarious for all the reasons you have mentioned, and grinning in his big friendly style...so yes, great band live and a bunch of nice guys. And so great to see you promote them to your large following. They deserve that. And just thought I would say hi. Love your work! :) All the best, Norm!

The opening was almost straight Ballroom Blitz. Very much a sample track of great 70's rock. Be a whole lotta fun to see them live.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing (not only can Cal sing and play guitar, he's a pretty mean little drummer too, although a little un-orthodox with his technique)🤣 I had the privilege to jam with him a couple of times about 12-14yrs ago at his place. Me and a few of my band members went there for his parents weekly Tues night blues club jams. Cal also came to plenty of our gigs before he had a band, under age of course, I think we were a bad influence😁. At the time, Cal was already super talented and a fkn funny dude, still in high school, same age as my nephew, both went to the same school. Great to see him out there kicking ass and rocking the planet nowadays👍👌🤘🇦🇺

I’m sorry that you’re sick. Puking is so unpleasant and violent and I hate that feeling. Do you have any ginger beer (not alcoholic), ginger ale, or ginger tea?

@@SuziQ. Thank you! 🧡 It's the absolute worst! ☹🤮 It started at three in the morning yesterday and not until about 12 hours later was I able to keep some light soup down. I didn't have any ginger ale or ginger tea, is ginger good for that sort of thing? I had medicinal charcoal, it seemed to help some. Justin's videos airs at 6 pm here and I was so exhausted I stayed up only for that and then went straight to bed 😅 Still a bit weak today, but I think it's over.

@@MariaFrancesca , Ginger ale helps. Ginger beer is stronger. I think it helps more. There’s not much you can do except try to stay hydrated until you can eat saltines. Pediolyte, or some kind of electrolyte drink can help restore the electrolytes you lost. I know it’s the worst. I prefer pain over nausea, if I’m going to feel like shite. I hope it’s over, and you feel better. 💙

@@SuziQ. I do feel better today, though stomach is still not really onboard with solid food. I found some fluid replacement fizzy tablets at the back of my medicine drawer. I'll try those and buy some ginger ale to have in stock for future problems! I'd prefer that, too! This was like... half the time you thought you were gonna die, and the other half you wished you would die 😅
