Justin Hickox I just went in the bathroom and did exactly what you did on the video. The best tip was to just trim with a comb only the part above the high point of your brow. Then taper sides. 💕. They turned out perfectly!!!!

Thank you so much for all this great information could you please tell me what or how to do if you do make the mistake in making your bangs wider across your face than what it should be how do I correct at a later date ? Because I have a hair dresser that she did doesn't always make the right decisions.
@justinhickox4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! That’s a great question. The only way to correct that is to allow those side parts to grow. If you were to be trimming that at home you would just follow the process I showed where you comb your bangs straight down and cut what is in between the crest of your eyebrows. Does that make sense?

Just an idea on a subject, I have been coloring my own hair with superior preference by L'Oreal for 15 years. A health-conscious friend recommended I use a less harsh coloring method, Naturtint. Wow congrats on the fact you've been cutting your own hair all these years! I am about to leave my very good but becoming too expensive for me, hairstylist, now, age 53. I'm quite dextrous in arts/crafts but doing my own hair is another level. I've just pulled off Brad Mondo's Butterfly cut and it gave me an appetite to take it further. I'm loving it in fact!
@mamalovesthebeach437 Жыл бұрын
@@Hana-su7zg I had to look up Brad Mondo's Butterfly cut! I looks like a great cut! I think I'd have to let my bangs grow out a bit for it to look good. As I've aged I've become more bold about what I do with scissors to my hair ; ) Thanks so much for the comment and the Mondo link! I may try it out with shorter bangs...what the heck!
@Hana-su7zg Жыл бұрын
@@mamalovesthebeach437 You can totally customize it, I have somewhat shorter bangs myself. The Butterfly cut is mainly to give you a very easy layered cut. But it's not perfect, it's just too simple. I'm already seeing less-than-perfect areas in it and watching loads of tutorials to learn to perfect it. Layering, point cutting, feather razors, all that stuff, how exciting! Collecting my hairdressing tools bit by bit. Never realized that it's actually fairly easy, once you learn what to do, all the sectioning, some clever hack techniques like the twist technique for the bangs etc. Wish I'd done it years ago but I guess all the DIY tutorials exploded thanks to the lockdowns. There are some great videos, check out wolf cut too, good luck and have fun 😄

Hey Barb! That’s a great question!!! I would default to wearing bangs that worked best for your face shape (I’m not sure if you’ve watched the other videos in this bangs playlists where I describe how to figure out your face shape and what bangs work best?). The only difference is, if your face shape requires a rounded bang, you could always leave the sides a bit longer (more of a dramatic angle) so they don’t sit right at the glasses arms length but actually a little longer if that makes sense.

Yes, for SURE, those shears are my favorite for breaking up the ends of hair and blending out bulk etc. I use them on almost every client I have for some reason or another. They’re amazing!!! Is there anything you’d like to see covered in a future video?

Great tips! Really liked the tip on parting and using a comb to trim the bangs. Could you do a demo on how to cut a side slanted bang that shapes the face in a bob? Also would love a demo on using the Dyson air wrap if you have it.
@justinhickox4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m so glad I could help. I did a video on how to cut front layers. I’m not sure if you’ve seen that one yet? It would be the same technique that I would use for the shape you were asking about in Bob’s. With that said, I’m also doing an entire webinar on how to avoid mistakes with home haircuts and hair color. Have you had a chance to register for that yet?

Loved the video. Thank you for sharing the proper techniques. I honestly thought you just cut straight across. I am to scared to cut my own bangs. But am now willing to try trimming myself..

I started trimming my hair periodically to cut down on expense. Going to the salon often is one of the things I gave up to pay for healthcare. ☹️

Great video! What do you recommend to do,with front strands of hair that were broken off because of bleach? To make them blend more.Thank you.

Hey Nicole! That’s a great question. I’d have to see how much breakage you’re dealing with and where it is. Unfortunately there isn’t really a blanket response for that one.

Now I'm going to have to go check the size of the blade on my thinning sheers. ;) Thanks! Great post. I have cut too far & gotten the square bang b4. That is very hard to blend in. Love the comb trick, never know quite where to start taking from.

OMG! This absolutely saved me $30.00, which is what I paid last time I had my BANGS ONLY cut.. Literally...just the bangs. Sorry, $30.00 is too expensive for just bangs.😳

Everything @Darris Nelson said! Thanks so much for this. My hair is not good, but with this advice maybe I can fix the bangs a bit. I'll give it a try later tonight. BTW, who's your beautiful, quick-learning model? She seems so familiar to me... Thanks from Seattle! 👋🏽🙋🏽♀️✌🏽

Hi Justin, you really packed a whole bunch of great tips and tricks. I had bangs pretty much for all my childhood and to this day my hair wants to part in the same place straight down the middle of my face, bangs were a real chore to style right. The blow-drying techniques were great, I already blow-dry my hair in all different directions because it helps with taming particular parts but also with lift (or volume). The tip about angling the scissors when cutting was really helpful too. You’re awesome and thank you for having the visuals (model), it really helps. Sincerely, Your new lifetime subscriber :o) I have a 12 year old nephew with Autism and I’ve been the one consistently cutting his hair. I’ld absolutely be over the moon if you could do some videos on cutting & styling different looks for young male tweens or teens! Thanks in advance. :o)

I absolutely love the new facial hair. Either way you're very handsome and professional, but the beard has a whole new style to you. And by the way " All About Style" is what I suggested your show should be called. I have been a stylist since 1968 since I graduated from Pittsburgh beauty academy but I watch you faithfully to always learn more. Thank you Justin. Keep the videos coming ❤️

Can ante explain ow the word bangs is representative of an edge of hair over the forehead? Normally it means explosions.

Love this. I FEEL like, "Cousin It", from the Addams family, at this point...I have scalp issues...too embarrassed to go to a stylist...Haven't had my hair nicely cut in over a year and a half...I have been just butchering it myself when I can't take it anymore...just a little here a little there.

This is the first time I realize no one has cut my bands as Justin explained! I have the Widows peak as the young girl in the video every stylist cuts my bangs as Justin said Not to do! I will be 63 at the end of May, and I just had my hair cut, as always no matter who I go to they give me almost a mullet bangs!! I am looking like shit AGAIN!! I am so tired of looking bad! All my adult life I had my hair cut wrong! I have to grow them out as usual! It is heartbreaking I just can’t do this anymore!! Can you cut Justin???? PLEASE!!

Omg I absolutely must share this silly story about cutting bangs!! Ok so I have this cousin who lived w me & 1 day she said I need to trim these bangs,they r too long lol! Welp she started cutting & it was crooked she kept trying to make them even but it got so bad she literally cut all bangs off & was left with spikes!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣This video brought me not only great funny memory but also how to really cut bangs!!! Thank you so much for this video…I’m sending it to my cousin…she will know right away!!🤣😂😂😂😂

Very easy to understand & follow with suprißingky good results, even for myself. Let me tell you, I'm quite the imbusile when it comes to styling, fashion, or creativity. 52 years old and just did my own dye job. Which brings to point the instructional video here that was also helpful.

That bit about non directional drying is amazing. I have just had a fringe (in the UK) cut but I have a really strong part and widows peak. Even the stylist couldn’t get it to sit right. Fortunately I remembered this video! What’s really weird is how the parting makes it bounce up. When I style it it’s a good length, in the morning it looks almost an inch shorter. 😜
@vee8633 Жыл бұрын
Sooo helpful!!❤ If anyone out there can help me when I do the non directional blow dry. To get rid of my cow lick, It seems like my bangs will not get curl or volume after that.. I have naturally curly hair with a brazilian.. Even with grow out it It stays straight.. Is it the brazilian?

Your videos are so educational. My problem is that I have wavy hair but pin straight bangs! I’ve tried wearing no bangs but my forehead feels too long. Any tips on how to find a balance? Perhaps you could do a video on someone with my problem...thank you.

@8:30 the back and forth dry method. Let me tell you. I have a cowlick from you know where and it's in my bangs area. When I dried my hair like this, voila. Cowlick gone! Thanks.

This is great for in between appointments. I feel safer just trimming the center section then letting my hairdresser angle the side pieces.
@litasanford57904 жыл бұрын
All of this was helpful. I’ve been staying at home due to the plague. I have cut my bangs completely wrong - straight across cut, drying straight down, pulling them down with my fingers, and failing to cut the center section first. Fortunately my stylist had already given me bangs, so I didn’t cut too far to the sides. My bangs have grown out from my whacking. I’m going to try your way. More later.
