Thank you. And what a cute/fun video to boot. Been watching lots of hair style videos for my 70 y.o.face. This one has been one of the best if not the most helpful. I have thin, fine hair. My most recent way of cutting my hair has worked for a while; but, now it has gotten to me more of a drag. I have used a blunt and even cut around at shoulder length with blunt cut bangs to hide my very receded hairline. I have angled the bangs along the very edges. Thanks to this video, I now know how to make that angled bang cut a lot easier. This past year my jowls have worsened and are causing my face to be more elongated. I like that wispier thicker look and think a shorter style (but not that power woman short look) will be the next step. I like a soft, very feminine tousled look. I really appreciate knowing how to gauge the amount of hair I'll have remaining if I cut in shorter layers. I used to think my hair was board straight; but, when I cut it shoulder length I discovered it has a little bit of curl. Thank you for the very valuable tips. Now, onto the "Shag" video!

Thank you, thank you!🎉Your videos are a godsend. I'm always watching and absorbing the valuable information that you give. Cowlicks have begun to reign supreme on my head. All across my nape, sideburn area, crown and now bangs. So, I am trying to love them and allow my hair to grow longer. This has revealed that I actually have wavy hair. Shorter top layers are a no no so my hairstylist and I, during our last meeting, collaborated on how to install inside layers in order to maximize the waves. Next visit will be a more customized bang that will fit in. It will become custom shag with a twist of mullet that will absolutely compliment my hair. It's a work in progress and I'm thankful my stylist is on board. He was so excited last cut that he exclaimed " together we have created a custom cut for you" and I was given a discount!! So grateful to have finally found him.❤

Love the comb on top of the head to determine where your bangs should start to fall forward. Super interesting! My hair gets thin looking just below the shoulders, like you described and wasn’t doing a thing for me, so I cut it short a couple weeks ago and my eyes and cheekbones reappeared! My curly hair came back with a vengeance! Tons of volume when I control the wave. Or I can blow it out pretty straight. It doesn’t stay straight, some soft wave rebounds but that’s okay, I like it like that.

What’s frustrating is, I’ve always been told to cut my hair shorter or to layer it, to create volume. Well, i personally don’t like how I look with shorter hair. Ages me. Plus, unless I curl those layers, it doesn’t look good just laying on the back of my head. My stylist tells me how fine and thin her hair is, and complains about it….but she spends thousands of dollars on extensions. Well, I should tell her to cut and layer her hair and see her reaction. 😆 Now I’m trying to grow out my layers and I know it’s driving her crazy, but in the end, I gotta have something that makes me feel more confident. Thanks for listening.

I'm with you. We fine-haired ladies are told to go short for volume, and then we spend a crazy amount of time trying to get what little hair we have to DO SOMETHING. I refuse now. I spend about $40 per year on haircuts, and then keep it all in a bun. There is no way I'm bobbing, shagging, or pixie-fying my hair!

I've been following your channel for several years now. I'm so confused by all the terms used interchangeably to really mean different things. Thin hair relates to density; fine hair is one type of texture (fine hair strands, medium, or coarse). Hair "thins" as we age, but it's the texture that determines density as well. People with fine-textured hair with low density really struggle to make their hair look fuller. LOVE THE LAST BOB! I'm going to show it to my stylist. Thank you. Love Dionna's hair shorter too.

Finding photos of any hairstyle in any hair texture that I’m allowed to use is a bit of a nightmare if I’m honest.

Hi, Justin! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March. I still have my hair, but I have lost a ton of my density. My hair falls slightly below the top of my shoulder. It's basically one length with slight face framing layers with a slight bang. Would you recommend more layers or adding more product and changing my styling technique. I used root lift. I blow dry upside down until my hair is about 80% dry. Then I use a blow dry brush. I want to get a round brush what size would you recommend? I have been in tears because it seems I really can't get fullness. Thank you for taking the time to make your videos. I have learned so much from you, which has been an unexpected gift. You ROCK!

I have the bob haircut with nape beveling and bangs and I love it. I ride several horses five days a week and it survives wearing a helmet and getting sweaty. When I take off my helmet I can just finger comb it and my hair looks great until I can get home to wash it. I clip back the sides to bend down for cleaning horses hooves, etc. it’s very practical. It’s a nice change from the usual ponytail. I have a good photo of it but I can’t figure out how to switch out my picture on KZbin….😂

Thank you. Confirmed that there are some styles that work for low density hair. Just as I suspected, it takes some manipulation of said styles to make them not be a disaster. There is just no education for those of us with low density, and even more problematic, as you pointed out, almost NO PHOTOS online of low density styles to take inspiration from! But even if there were, there is no info about what to do to achieve the look. Its the same problem with low density curly hair, evidently no one can get it to look good. Or worse, multiple curl pattern curly hair (I have 2a waves at crown and 3a curls at nape and cannot find ANYONE who knows a solution or a stylist who can suggest a haircut that would work in curly form). Thanks for this information, it will help out so many people who feel hopeless about finding a good style.

So just to clarify, do you take the comb and balance it at the top of the head and wherever the end of the comb...? I'm sorry I'm lost on this one lol I understand putting the comb on the top of your head but it depends on how far back you put it or how far forward you put it I don't quite understand what we're supposed to do here. Can you please clarify?

Dating myself here - I have thin fine hair but the only texture comes from a ridiculous amount of cowlicks. In younger days people used to perm to get texture. Except for the Betty Boop look I accidentally rocked when I had a short layered perm I did get effortless volume. Is there a type of perm that works or is that a big steer clear?

Please do a video about thin, curly, OLDER hair. I’ll be 68 next month, and my hair is completely unruly. I’m very sensitive to chemicals in my hair (product), and on my face (makeup) 🙄. Can you help with any of that?

Hi Justin -- I would love it if you did a video on modern flip hairstyles which are really just shorter, one length bobs with the ends flipped out a tiny bit . . .but not shaggy, more sleek looking and uniform and just the tips flipped up. slightly Can this be cut into a haircut by wrapping the tip of the hair around the finger when cutting so it's a tiny bit longer underneath? You guys are great. Peace and love.

I love your videos!! I had a contest with my granddaughter to see whose hair would grow the most during the school year. Not whose hair is the longest because she had a head start on that. Three years later my hair is almost to my waist and I will be cutting it off in January. I’m a natural redhead turning gray at 73. It’s thin(used to be so thick) and fine. You are welcome to cut/style my hair. I’m also going to donate my hair. Do you know who to donate my hair to?

Hey, I recognize that beautiful lady modeling that short bob haircut! That's Dominique Sacse! I follow her channel too! I Love seeing Deeana in the videos, however, I would prefer the camera angle to be shot straight on, & not on a side angle. It seems odd to shoot it from the side, plus we want to see more of Deena's beautiful face! I also think that maybe having Deeana on the other side of you where you're more in the same single camera angle, verses her being off into a different area, to me, it feels less personal the way you are shooting it. The "vibe" is different. I'd prefer a more cozier feeling of an interaction together between you two, that's when you guys shine. Just my (meant lovingly), "two cents", for what it's worth. LOVE you BOTH! 🫶

Nice to see Dominique in one of your Bob photos however she has curly thick hair & she has to use product & a blowout to smooth it. I have had a bob since the 80’s one length or bangs just because it’s the only style my thin, fine hair. At 65 I’ve come to grips with my hair: straight, thin, fine & now white!

Hi Justin and Dionne! Thank you for this video. I wanted to get low lights again but my hairdresser doesn't like to put them in because she said they wash out and then make my hair color look muddy. Is there a way to avoid that and still get low lights?

When are you going to do a video on haircuts that make thick hair look thicker? After three years with my stylist, she still comments every time on how much wait I have. As I''m growing my hair out for the first time in my life (I'm almost 67), I say my hair doesn't get longer, it gets bigger.

Congrats Justin on the 500k subs. I have a smaller rounder face and very thin fine hair. I get confused about bangs and length for me. Also when I use product like mousse the round brush really pulls and sticks in the hair on the hot setting. On the medium heat setting it’s okay but I don’t get the bend or volume. Why is this and what do I do please as pulling my already super thin tresses causes breakage.

Dear Justin, I need some help from you. This video is perfect for me - mature with cancer and luckily enough only treatment as tablets, so my hair is still here. In that last section you mention bixie cuts, and I would like to add volume to my very thin and sparce hair, due to the treatment. But I only saw a picture from the front and not the back - can you help me here, either with a picture or let me know what I have to tell my hairdresser on Tuesday where I have an appointment for having my hair cut. It's the second model I really like from the front but unfortunately there were no photo of her back. Hoping for the luck that you have the time to read this and answer. Have a very nice day - looking forward for your next video, they are always very teaching. My very warmest regards Hanne from Denmark
