Easy fix on the drag. Take the reel apart and you’ll see the spring got disconnected from the knob. It’s a lot easier to reattach it using tweezers than it is your fingers!

Nice tarpon man but in my experience the best way to keep them on is with j hooks and be sure to jack them up good when they bite at least 5 or 6 times and really bury the hook I’m 4-7 this year so I think it’s pretty effective but do things the way you see as best.

The most beat up I’ve ever felt was back to back days catching two Tarpon a little smaller than yours. Legs shot, back didn’t un-tighten for a week, my arms- useless. And I don’t even remember doing it, but at some point I wedged the rod butt under my rib cage. That was a cool looking bruise for a few months. After all of the above, I’d do it again tomorrow. (Better, heavier rod, and better posture) I live in Georgia now. I fish for Shoal Bass, Crappie and trout. Kill me, kill me NOW!

Bravo young man, great day indeed. A year ago I took that same reel to the pacific north. After the second 100+ lb YFT on poppers I was worn out. I switched up to BG6500 on the same 180g rod. What a big difference. Later that day I used it for inshore. It really shines inshore . surf, pier, jetty etc.. Also during the fight the drag clicker stopped . The spring under the spool came undone. Enjoyed the video thumbs up.
