Pro tip: Sometimes you just want the spectrum to react to bass -but it can be a nightmare to achieve this using the spectrum's frequency settings. Modify a copy of the sound file instead (run it through a low-pass filter (to remove the high frequencies) in Audacity etc). Set this as the spectrum's audio file -but mute it so it can't be heard in the actual video. -You can also add silences to the modified audio if you want the spectrum to start at a certain point.

Wouldn't it be easier to just set the frequency it reacts to in a very low range? I've never tried it but that's a lot of work for just one audio spectrum. :-)

@@casie6609 Just found this thanks to that other random reply: I found the program's frequency settings to be a very blunt and ineffective tool. For seasoned Audacity users it a very simple task to run a low-pass filter, saved me a lot of time and effort... -But this is an old comment, so they might've updated and improved the program's functionality?

Hi Justin! Thank you for the tutorial. Sorry to bother you. I'm racking my brain to solve an issue I saw some people had but those solutions aren't working for me. As soon as I add the audio spectrum the Render preview will only play 30 seconds of the song and then start over. I've adjusted the composition settings (time/duration) and checked the RAM. Nothing is working. Do you know how to troubleshoot this issue? Putting out a project and I have a deadline. HELP!

go to composition > comp setting > duration (that's how you change the duration of your video length (hour/minute/second/milisecond))

Sometimes even after you change your composition duration settings, the render will fail to export more than 45 seconds of actual video. This issue is caused when there isn’t enough usable space in the drive you are exporting your video to. The fix for this can be clearing out some files in the drive you are currently trying to use, or to export to another disk that has sufficient space.

PLEASE HELP! How do i get my audio (song) & audio spectrum layers to show the entire 3 mins of duration in my work area like yours??? For example: your red and grey lines at the bottom in your work area stretch out the entire 3 mins and when you preview it it plays the entire thing and you can scroll thru the entire thing (with blue marker) and the audio spectrum reacts to it. In my case, my work area is only playing like 2 or 3 seconds (of the intro) then it loops back to the beginning instead of playing the full 3 mins thru, so the audio spectrum never has time to even react because its so short (the intro is vinyl crackling but it should at least activate the audio spectrum) I need my work area to be the full 3 mins long! why cant my 2 bottom bars in the work area stretch all 3 mins like yours??? i already checked the lil bar with the mountains to zoom in n out, thats NOT IT, already tried that. my whole composition is a 2 or 3 second loop when it should be a 3 min long video. NO i dont have it looped, i dont even know how to do that. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP, this is so frustrating, nothing ever fucking works for me, i want to cry. HELP!

It's probably you composition length. You can try changing it you the song duration in the composition settings

Select the composition in the timeline > go to top > composition > composition settings > duration > set the duration of your music (check how long your music is beforehand)
