I started losing my eyesight in my 20s. It was shocking. The only conclusion the doctors and specialists could come to was that it was diabetes related, since blindness was common in my obese, elderly, diabetic maternal relatives. However, I looked the picture of health and only tested as pre-diabetic. So, I immediately cut out all grains and sugar and within 2 weeks it was like nothing had ever happened to my eyes. Now, in my 30s I cycle between a keto and a carnivore diet. It has saved my health. Meat heals.

For many, sugar, in any form, is highly inflammatory. This would include the maple syrup in your ice cream. For me, even fruit is problematic.

Sugar, sugar, sugar. It's terrible for inflammation. I've had to give up honey, pasta, breads and milk. Trying to give up things that turn into sugar. 😭 I'll do anything to stop the pain in my joints and muscles. Its not easy.

Justin I have 6 different autoimmune illnesses, been very sick most of my life, and have had chronic inflammation since I was a child. Like you I have tried every diet, including keto. In Nov 2019 I went Carnivore, and I started to improve so much, the big jump for me was to give up dairy it caused me gut inflammation. I am now strict Carnivore and 52 years old and I feel better today than I can ever remember feeling. Stick with it, it gets easier and I think your going to see huge results like I have.

Rebekah, I’m a HUGE veggie eater. There’s honestly nothing I love more than a huge salad with olive oil and salt! However, I suffer from insulin resistance and PCOS, and I’ve tried just about every diet like paleo, vegan, keto, vegetarian, blood type diet, etc. I did not grow up eating much meat other than nasty ground turkey and fish sticks. I had never tried a steak until I was about 17! I never ate eggs or drank milk, but always “felt good” eating my veggies, and meat made me gag to even think about! How ever, I’ve been carnivore since January. I’ve healed my hypoglycemia, improved my insulin resistance, reversed PCOS symptoms, and I’m not missing veggies at all! :-) I was suuuuper skeptical like you, too. But now I eat once, maybe twice a day. I love my ground hamburger with cheese and never get tired of it. I love a steak. I love eggs and bacon (I used to to eat this with a huge side of okra in bacon grease). This diet is so satisfying that you end up not even wanting to go back to veggies, One thing Justin didn’t mention is how it impacts the digestive system. When I was a veggie eater I would have very bulky bowel movements, maybe once or twice a day. After a transition period with carnivore I’ve now got very minimal waste. It’s pretty amazing. I’ve also seen improvements in my mental heath. I don’t get depressed and down like I used to, and I’m not constantly thinking about food. I say give it a week. Only eat the meats you absolutely LOVE just to get through it. But with your hashimitos, what is stopping you from trying it? Awesome video! :-)

I have epilepsy and chronic migraines. I cut out carbs, including all fruits and most vegetables. My hunger dropped, my cravings dropped, and I lost weight. I haven’t had an epileptic episode in months and my headaches have been down. Hoping to go totally carnivore soon. This motivated me to give it a shot.

Only thing I see might be missing is organ meats, they're one of the only sources of animal vitamin C( and a myriad of other vitamins and minerals) . Liver is the most approachable and is best cooked hot and fast like a steak, you only need to eat it every once in a while because it's so nutrient dense just having it once a week or every 2 weeks is great!

Love all your vlogs and your family. I am a city woman, disabled in a wheelchair. I have only been around gardening when I was a growing up a few years in a country home. My folks had us weeding and picking all summer lol. I didn't think that garden would ever stop growing, haha. Since getting to my older years, 58 I have wanted to grow food so much. I found your family and Rebecca said, if you want to grow food, do what You can. If you have No space, use containers, so that's what I did. First time ever. Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green beans and yellow neck squash. Squash was a total fail. Tons of blooms, even a few turned into squash, but all died in the end. Beans had a couple dozen. Peppers, I have had around 6 from 3 plants. Tomatoes, lots of my grape tomatoes, 12 to 15 other kinds from 7 plants. They are still growing a few. So over all, very sad results 😢 I have much to learn it seems this winter. I have gone back and started watching all your vlogs. The farm tour episodes are just amazing. I know I'm dragging on but wanted to address your current eating choices. I wish you the best. I chuckled when you stated ' I'm not obese' HAHA of course your not! I however am, an being in a wheelchair, that doesn't help my health issues which are many, worst being Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have done many many diets in my life. My one true success was KETO. When I followed that plan, after a few weeks, I also was not hungry at all like normal. No cravings, I actually had to make my self eat somedays. Definitely never more than once a day. I was so worried because all diet talk goes on about so bad to not eat. You kill your metabolism so I was so confused but I continued anyway. Ate when I was hungry and didn't if I wasn't. It was amazing. I lost 65 lbs in around 6 months. Some do even better. But when you start out over 300 lbs it still gets depressing at times, feeling like I will never reach the goal, so I fell off the plan. What was amazing though was that because I had been without the carbs for so long I still didn't crave them and I had eaten mostly pasta, pizza and potatoes and breads before KETO. SO Even though I had fallen off plan I still wasn't returning to many carbs so also for the first time ever, I have kept the weight off still today. Years ago I was over 400lbs, today I'm am at 288 and that's mostly due to keto. So yes, I'm be better than I started but still have so much to go it just gets overwhelming, feeling like I'll never not be considered obese. My favorite dinner is still a nice steak with a pile of broccoli smothered in 'grass fed' butter. Keto still has you eat a FEW VEGGIES BUT mostly proteins and fats. Yes, I think it also helped my inflammation problems. So I eagerly watch your journey and any adjustments you make. I hope to get dedicated and back on plan soon, I just have to get my head straight to succeed. Thanks to keto truly though, the menu really killed most of my old carb cravings so I still maintain my losses. Yes, sorry, I'm quite a talker, lol. I'll close my chatter and continue learning from your channel. You have a beautiful family. Sincerely best wishes and prayers for you all! Karen Wilson in Iowa 🙋‍♀️

Oh I'm so happy for you Justin. I don't have Lime Decease, but I have Diabetic and Arthritis, so I also needed to do something that would get rid of the inflammation. I have been watching Dr. Ken Berry on KZbin. He also does Carnivore. So he educated me on that. It seems to be great for diabetes. I have done great on carnivore. It takes a while to lose weight. But once it starts you'll do great. I'm so happy for you. The meat your eating has all the vitamins and most of the minerals you'll need. Dr. Berry does recommend that you eat plenty of good salt. Lots of water. Be careful of dairy. Cream doesn't bother me but I've heard from others that they can't eat any dairy. I also use Turmeric. Honey is a form of sugar. I stopped eating vegetables because of the Oxalates in them that's a whole study in itself. So carnivore was perfect. Good luck with your carnivore. You cravings will pretty much disappear on this plan. Again enjoy. I'm 75 years old, and my arthritis doesn't bother me anymore, no more stiffness. No Gout either. Again happy meat eating. God bless you all. 🤗😘💖🌹🎉🙏

Last year I ate carnivore (OMAD - one meal a day) for 45 days. I lost 30 pounds and feel much, much better. I still eat mostly carnivore. According to Dr. Jason Fung, only eating once a day allows the body to heal better in a process called autophagy. Fortunately with carnivore, you don't get hungry like on other diets. I share your peanut butter/chocolate addiction and still indulge to some degree with peanut butter/cream cheese mug cakes that have dark chocolate chunks melted in them. After all, life is too short to not have peanut butter and chocolate. For the bed pain, have you considered getting a new mattress?

I have rheumatoid arthritis. I had it for about 40 years. It has effected my mobility greatly. And I have always been active. I farmer 125 acres. Seriously farmed. Now I set in a chair more than I move. So I understand the need to try anything. I find this very interesting. I have been on keto for about 3-4 years. I have found when I cheat I feel really bad the next several days. The pain flairs terrible for at least three days or more. And gluten causes the worst flairs. But even though keto helps it does not take the pain completely away. So I have been seriously considering the carnivore diet. Watching your journey is very interesting. Thank you

Not directly related (dog story) but last week I visited my parents. I was surprised to see their 11 year old Yorkshire Terrier dude running out to greet me. Last I heard Dude was on his last legs around Easter. They had taken him to the vet and found he had tumors from one end of his body to the other. Vet gave him two weeks to live. My mom decided too treat him well for his final days and gave him the best. Venison, beef, pork , Braunschweiger ( liver sausage). Guess what? Full recovery, dog was full of life, solid weight, lively and in good health. Go figure. Eating like a dog should eat and living well.

The carohydrates in milk and cheese are feeding the bacterias that also can make things that can provide pain in the body.. Also milk has so much calsium. It keeps adding and can be a bit much. More boron and potassiom can make the calsium more movable and make you less stiff. I also suggest more water and salt. Thr salt helps create stomac acid for digestion meat. My pain went really low on carnivore strict zero carb. Felt i was cheating the body. Zero carb carnivore is what i think you would get better benefit from. It does not allow milk. Love that you are trying out diets and looking into nutrition. Autophagy and fasting should be looked up. Tnx

Justin, I would really consider nixing the dairy, honey and maple syrup and see if you get more results as far as inflammation goes. It just takes one of those things to keep you from getting the full benefits and dairy allergies are so common. It’s very possible that you could reintroduce in time after your body heals. I just watched an interview with Mikala Peterson today and she has been able to eat small amounts of fruit but it has taken her 3 years to get to that point. It took about two weeks for me to start to feel the pain ease up. You described it so well though. I used to say I felt like I’d been hit by a Mack truck every morning! I would push through all day because I knew as soon as I would sit down, getting back up would be more than I could bear at times. Blessings to you and I’m praying for your full recovery.

There’s Ken D. Berry, MD, a carnivore proponent on KZbin. You can watch his transformation being a carnivore. Carb in any shape and form is big no no. Sugar in any shape and form (maple syrup, honey and fruits) is a big no no either. But you can treat yourself occasionally like birthdays and then go back into your carnivore eating habit. What you’re doing right now is not a diet, it’s a transformation into a new lifestyle that will heal your body and live more longer. And if you gets healed, do you think you’re going back to your old lifestyle?

My recommendation is that "The Beautiful One" be careful contemplating a very restricted carb diet. At first all may go well, but many with thyroid issues find it suppresses thyroid function over time. Google "athletes who have used a keto style diet", as that will bring you a good sampling of how different people tolerated a restricted carbohydrate diet over time. Some find success, others will crash. I can appreciate your experience, as I have chronic tick borne related illness as well. Just a side-note from one who lives close to you, I fell ill from Rocky Mountain Spotted fever, without typical symptoms. I was very ill. It took a neurologist at Duke to suggest a test for it. NC has one of the highest RM illness rates. Tick related illness is so very frustrating so I understand the desire to try anything that may turn the equation around to be in your favor. On a brighter note, your family is wonderful and your vlogs are such a resource of info along with great entertainment! Thanks.

Justin, have you tried no sugar to help with your pain? As a chronic pain warrior (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome here), I can tell you that I see a marked difference in my pain and stiffness when I don't have any sugar. That includes the sugar in natural foods (fruits, honey, etc) as well as the sugar in dairy. I also noticed that the next clip after you had ice cream was you complaining about stiffness. As for the peanut butter and chocolate craving, sounds like magnesium deficiency to me and possibly the salt of the peanut butter would point to adrenal fatigue. No expert, just reflecting on my own experiences.

Then I saw you were seeing a chiropractor! I was thrilled! While you are healing...to help everything else you are doing to heal...I can think of nothing better than regular chiropractic adjustments. It has helped me AND my WHOLE family over the years to heal faster and get sick less often. I am about to start learning to ferment foods as well and I believe in using things like herbs and essential oils as well to assist in healing. I know that it is definitely a slow road to healing but, sometimes those roads are the ones most worth taking IMHO. Pain and inflammation can be debilitating just doing things day to day. I understand what your going through. I have an autoimmune disease , psoriatic arthritis and onset of rheumatoid arthritis. I am in pain everyday with my knees, legs and feet. There is not one day that goes by where I do not have pain. I’ve learned to find ways to control it with foods in my diet. You have to find out what works for your body individually. Keeping healthy is important. You have an amazing family and thanks for sharing this journey.

I started full carnivore back a yr ago in September. The biggest thing I found issue with that was still causing me inflamation was dairy. You might look to cutting out your milk, cream, yogurt, (I use less than a cup of cheese each week and maybe a quarter cup of butter with in that week) I have cut out the rest of my dairy and my inflamation went down so much that I was able to decrease my inhailer usage to half. I always thought it was asthma... it was asthma related to dairy consumption.

So interesting to watch. Chronic pain is horrible to live with and I lived with it for years (back, knees, feet)but I took a different route. Each to their own.Loved your wife's thoughts on it too.Thank you for sharing.💜

How’s your mattress, Justin & Rebecca? Having a good mattress, good shoes & proper body mechanics goes a long way too. I love that y’all are using a mobile chiropractor! What a great idea. Thx for sharing your carnivore diet with us. 💕

Justin, don’t give up exploring solutions to improve your health. At 62 I recently found a mix of diet, herbal supplements, and Qigong practice, that has me feeling 30 years younger. All the inflammation and stiffness is gone, and my energy level is as good as its been in 30 years. Limiting my eating time to 6 hours (one or two meals) and occasional monthly 2 or 3 day fasts is my guess for a big part of the change. I’ve also incorporated the alchemy of cooking with healthy spices for their medicinal effect. Lots of ginger for reduced inflammation for example. I’m leaning towards a keto diet, mostly limiting carbs to fresh veggies. Regularly eating Kale seems to really help limit inflammation (vitamin K?).

Eventually, you cant test different veg and see what causes inflammatory responses and which ones that don't.

Next step .... intermittent fasting, which you pretty much already do since you eat a fairly early dinner and don't eat again until brunch .... so your eating window is like 18:6 I would guess (18 hours fasting, 6 hours eating)

I agree with rebecca about finding what your body needs... it's an individual thing, sometimes you crave something that your body needs and sometimes you crave something and its a mental craving instead of a body craving. So you have to be able to decide which it is, and what your body response is going to be. I love my meat and potatoes, but I do have to have my veggies! good luck with your food journey, it's good to hear your trials and results. It's encouraging for me!

Good for you Justin. Looking forward to hearing how it goes longer-term. A thought... I have a messed up back and I found sleeping in a hammock dramatically reduces the level of pain I have in the morning. You might want to try it. Do a bit of research first though because you don't lay like a banana, you actually lay diagonally so you're nearly flat on your back.

Damn brother I really enjoyed this video. I've been watching you for about 6-8 months now. This video had me laughing at the beginning but took a quick turn when you stated you had Lyme disease. Please keep us all informed on how this diet works for you. Btw nice job on the editing on this video you had me from beginning to end even though I really didn't have time at this moment I made time to finish it. Your family is a blessing to watch. That little guy really cracks me up. God bless I hope everything goes your way and soon. From one peanut butter and chocolate-holic to another. Good luck 😀

Hey Justin, Good for you. There are plenty of keto options that you could try to satisfy your sweet tooth. I know you are doing it to control inflammation but like you said just introduce new foods one at a time and see how your body reacts. I have been keto for about a year now and feel great. Keep at it.

I have rheumatoid and osteoarthritis and I have been on a low carb no-sugar diet for a year now. The swelling and inflammation is so much better in my joints now that this is going to be my lifestyle from now on. I can understand why the carnivore diet is working for you. Best of all, I have lost 40 lbs and I'm still losing.

Justin. I watch a lot of your videos. They are great. It's hard to see you struggling. Have you looked into fasting? The absence of eating can allow your body to enter autophagy and it can start cleaning out all those old gunked up cells. Worth the look? Take care.

I had back pain from a diving injury. I found sleeping on the floor without a mattress (just exercise pad) helped a lot. I think it improved my posture too. At first it hurt everywhere because I was so soft. That lasted just a couple weeks...now nothing. Mentioned it to my daughter in law ... and that there's no trace of cellulite. My son said she'll never sleep in bed again.
