See how some (very) basic permaculture designs revolutionized the way we grow food. Here’s a look at proximity and a bit about how you might get plants and animals to do the work of your farm. Get my Homesteaders Bundle, HERE: bit.ly/Homestea...

Your children are wonderful! You’re teaching them values they’ll never forget and always have at their disposal. Your oldest son is definitely your “right hand man” so bright! Lily is “older than her years”,such a big help! She seems to jump right in and get her chores done, and then helps with milking. She’s amazing! You’re building quite a legacy for your children and their children. Your children are your legacy. I truly hope as they grow they’ll remain respectful and thankful for all they’ve been given (I don’t mean material things)😊 I spent a lot of time on a farm with my grandparents during the summer, and those memories are still my favorite childhood memories. I live in a city now (for convenience). My heart will always be in the country. I wish your family the very best now and always.

Jonah is such an asset to the family and the farm. All the kids help, but I see it in Jonah and Lily the most. They have a pure love for helping out on the homestead. Love your videos. Thank you.

We had gardens all over our place growing up. Vegetable gardens all the way around the house and the orchard gardens further out on the edge of the forest. An additional garden of all sorts of berries. I had a blessed childhood. We didn’t have chickens in the front yard though. Love the concept 🥰

I think the MORE of a "challenge" the "sweeter the rewards"!? You know what I mean? I never tire of anything having to do with the "great outdoors"! Tyfs all of your accomplished challenges with us to enable more of us to create our own healthy challenges. Hope your week ahead is great. Praying for "Snowball" to be gentle on his mom too. God bless.

Adding to your comments... permaculture a systems thinking approach that not only looks at efficiency but also resiliency. It not only looks at short term outputs for less inputs but long-term health of the overall environment. It gives a place for native animals and insects along side domesticated animals and cropping plants. It looks at wind, water and fire flow through the landscape... it's based on observation before acting. It's a political approach that supports the local economy and directly supports the people as a community. It's a low energy design that can rectify climate change... it gives hope that there are solutions to complex problems. Solutions are local and specific to place and culture.... permaculture invites people to work together.

I feel like some people's first impression of permaculture is too wild and sometimes messy looking. You guys have done an amazing job of implementing practical design and making it beautiful as well. Lol @ the nail clippers. Going to join the email list for sure!

Love how the family is working together. Jonah seems to be having a little burn out he is not as excited. I may be wrong but He might need to visit another farm or do something else for a day. And it maybe just me. Love you guys.

Hi, I had an idea for your mobile milk station! A 6ish inch tall, 6 foot or so long, and whatever wide.... Platform that you can hinge to the inside wall stud and fold down. Then, when you need to move the station, fold it back up and secure to wall. It'll raise the cow up and you won't be bending over so much!

I love the garden it front of the homstead. It's show the food where we can sell food. I got 2 Yorkshire piglets for sale in S.E Georgia. 70 days old. Check them out socialized piglets. Family friendly too. I just recently got a cottage license for the state of Georgia. Where now along with my seed/timber license we can also sell our fruit and vegetables stand in front yard. Thank for all the good teachings for free. Pig composting has help me in more ways the one. Watching from S.E.Georgia I would love to learn for pork harvesting would be awesome.

One of the hardest things that I had to teach horse owners was to place paddocks, pastures and feed barns in a configuration that made LESS work not more. It was amazing how hard and sometimes dangerous they made it on themselves... feeders in the middle of yearling pastures ( good way to get kicked or trampled by excited competitive youngsters at feed time! ) and feed accesses difficult to get to and load and unload feed from, stalls unusable except if the horse is caught or haltered and led to, instead of graduated enclosures leading to water and feed troughs...maximizing efficiency is not only practical but it’s safer and less work intensive. Farming is hard enough why make it harder?

Our back 1/3 acre is covered in maples that drop the little spikey balls and Virginia vineage of multiple varieties. I plan to take down the trees for firewood and wood chips and would like to turn it into garden space... Will pigs get rid of the vines?

Hey Justin, I know I should know this by now, but when its time to prep your raised beds for spring veg, what do you do with the cover crop. Do you pull it out, or just cover it over with a tarp to kill it?
