It’s a shame that Dell have cheaped out in a few areas on this. No M2 heatsinks, the VRM’s look extremely lightweight. No intake dust filters. The RAM is just generic green PCB, no heat spreaders. Only a couple of M2 slots. Still annoyed that it’s a single 120mm AIO on a 12900k. Given they redesigned the entire chassis they should/could have made a provision for 240mm. Case aesthetics are good though.

I’ve swapped my stock aio for an NZXT z53 240mm aio. Put the rad on the front and used a phone charger to connect it to a back USB port and hey it’s works great. Keeps temps lower than used to be. Sadly the motherboard has no 9pin USB ports so you can’t expand and upgrade it much without having to jerry rig some stuff.

I bought this machine, and I couldn't be happier. I went with Aurora 13 completely maxxed out on ALL options with a 38" G-Sync Curved Gaming Monitor [plan to buy a pair of 34" QD-OLED's in the future] and the Alienware Matching mouse and keyboard. Honestly..... this PC is a dream, and if the fan noise ever gets to me, I'll be sure to take your advice and buy the Nashua fans and replace them. My intuition is telling me the Nashua fans will maybe give a boost in thermal performances too! 💖 ❤️ 💕 I can tell this is going to be future-proof for a good 5 years!

Running hot, as one would expect using a case with restricted airflow and a thoroughly overwhelmed 120mm AIO struggling to cool a 12900. Thermal throttling will impact performance, and it will be loud. Noctuas may help a bit, with noise if not temps, but most prebuilt shoppers aren't going there. Dell makes OK office PCs, but they are out of their league here. It does look nice.

Hey man nice rig. I’ve had my r13 3090 with 12900 for a few weeks. I’ve swapped out the fans for Noctua NF-A12x25, no bios errors and everything works normally. I just thought I would try it as I had 3 in the house. Also make sure when you go into bios to allow overclocking on the cpu, oddly you can select either overclock 1 or 2 on AOC even when it’s switched off in bios. Big difference in Cinebench scores with this on. You can put a really healthy overclock on the GPU, much more than I could manage on my R10 3900x rtx3080. Had been using R13 3080ti+12900KF for few weeks now, the spec can carry any game in top effect in 2K no problem, just the fan noise is a bit unbearable very noticeable at 50-60% speed and feels like jet engine in full speed, to an extent I have to reduce the voltage to limit the temperature (I'm already cryo-tech liquid cooling). If you do a cooling upgrade it would be great if you can do a tutorial!

@markedmunds19662 жыл бұрын
It’s a total piece of overpriced crap. Dell have managed to take an i9 and make it less powerful than an i7 because of poor cooling and worse ventilation. Added to this they’ve reduced the ram speed and voltages because it runs too hot and has to cpu throttle most of the time. It’s incredibly noisy because the fans have to do overtime to keep the temps at 92% Celsius. I built my first PC a few weeks ago with a an i9 12700k and a 3080 and it’s way better than this sadly and cost less than half the price. Stay away from Dell if your after a gaming pc

Ok I'm hyped ! Sooooooo eager to see you upcoming videos ! Realllllllly is sweet, can't wait for benchmarks, noise/thermals and how it overall performs :) Questions : - As undervolting has proven to be really impressive on the i9 10900 familly, how is the 12900 going to perform ? - Will you be able to test on GPU intensive games AND on CPU intensive games ? (World Of Warcraft I'm looking at you !) - Can you test the speed of the stock nvme and compare to other "leading" nvmes like Sabrent, Samsung, Western digital ? - DDR5 wise, not sure but IF faster models are available will they be ok in this beast ? (logically no issue to be expected) - Can you send a dead skunk to Dell ? Because for the price, they could at least put in a real keyboard and a real mouse and not those craaaaaaaaappy models they give since like ... 10 years now ? (ok I'm not really impartial as I love my roccat vulkan keyboard and my 502 logitech unkillable mouse :p) - Which monitor will you be testing on ? (res, max refresh rate, gsync ? freesync ?) - for pure benchmarking purposes : try mining with it to see how high the junction temperature goes to see if this 3090 by Dell (in reality by msi) handles heat. Keep up the great work !!!!!! (and that face you pull when powering the beast on : totally in phase with that, I had the same :p)

@@JustinTechTips yeah scalpers .... 2021 human cancer = scalpers ... Really curious to see temps because one flaw of the r11/r12 imho is still there : the main nvme ssd right behind the 3090, not sure that is a smart move for component lifespan ... Second flaw imho : the 3090 blows hot air ON the PSU , unless the low front fan blows fast enough, not sure that is a good thing on thermals and noise :(

Awesome and informative video. Buying advice...never buy Alienware! Proprietary motherboards make these things basically a console. I bought the Triad style case back in 2015 and while it ran great I was stuck with what I bought besides upgrading the GPU, RAM and storage. Plus their pricing is awful compared to other prebuilt companies or buying all the parts yourself (if GPU prices weren't insane).

yeah if GPU prices weren't insane. But right now they are so it's actually not a horrible deal and cheaper than NZXT or building your own when you get the 10% discount by signing up for a Dell Preferred Account

Got mine last friday, super happy. Glad that i didn't buy R12 and waited for R13. I been doing some research and the fans in R13 are server fans capable 4K rpm. If you set up your fans curve you can achieve very silent system. I use now balanced profile and its completely fine. The fans in aurora each has airflow capability of 150 CFM which is 4000 liters of air in minute, and that's overkill for such a chassis :D Either swap them for Noctua or just set up your fan curves, they will be silent with enough of airflow.
@JustinTechTips2 жыл бұрын
That's some good advice MG! Yeah I will be swapping with Noctua fans to see how much better performance and lower noise I can get as well

So, is there a reason why they liquid cooled the cpu but not the graphics card? Seems kind of half assed unless I am missing something
@JustinTechTips2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm not sure about that Dennis. There is quite a bit more room in the chassis now and cables are hidden for much better uninterrupted airflow but again it is a little concerning how close the GPU is to the power supply at the bottom. It has to be somewhat difficult for the graphics card fans to pull air in with such a small gap between itself and the PSU. So far with my gameplay previews though it didn't appear the graphics card was getting too hot though.

I currently have an R8, three years now. Before I purchased it, I saw reviews concerning the noise level. Mine was a later build, and they began using AIO cooling. At first boot-up, I could, and still, hardly hear any noise. Checked out the R13 today, 5-14-22, loaded with the highest options; it was $5,899. For comparison, my R8 with all the high-end options was $4,200. Given inflation, this might be somewhat reasonable. As a return customer, I might get a lower price and faster delivery.

Hi @JustIN Tech Tips Wonderful video, mate! I was wondering if you could please let me know your opinion on whether it is worth it to get the 128GB Dual Channel DDR5 RAM at 3600MHz over the 64GB Dual Channel DDR5 RAM at 4400MHz? I am essentially trying to future-proof this computer so that I could keep it for the next 5 to 10 years and it could easily handle any software/games that came out during that time. With that said, I would not be doing any editing or production work with this computer. It would simply be my personal PC for web-browsing and playing games.
