I come from Quebec. Canada. like Celine Dion and Lara Fabian who immigrated here. because here they gave her a chance and we believed in her. for me Lara is better than Celine Dion whom I also love. at worst they started at the same time as Céline. Celine hates Lara, no one knows why. for the moment I think that Lara deserves just like Céline the same Fame as Céline. Do you know that Lara speaks approximately and without accent 12 Language. That's why it's so easy for her to sing other languages. she is Dimash's lifelong idol. She comes into the character of the song as an actress. Thank you for your nice comment. . 🤘♥️🌹

You can’t figure out why CD hates her? Are you kidding? It’s called narcissistic jealousy, greed and the will to power. Look at Lara. Listen to her. Absorb her vibration. CD is Mexican silver. Lara Fabian is pure liquid gold and CD knows it. She couldn’t be Lara so she tried to destroy her. Eff CD.

Unbelievable comments! I adore both Lara and Celine, but there is no evidence WHATSOEVER that Celine "hates" Lara. NOTHING!!!! Celine's Manager may have been wary of Lara, but don't drop the shit at Celine's doorstep, who was also very young at that time! Celine and Lara, for me, are the two greatest female vocalists of all time. Celine could never compete with Lara on Caruso, Adagio, Broken Vow, Je Suis Malade, for example. However, Lara could never compete with Celine for Ave Maria, O Holy Night, My Heart Will Go On, Prayer, etc. It is curious how they do not appear to have dueted, especially as Lara wrote to Celine and did not receive a reply, but this was down to their Management and record labels, no doubt, not Celine.

Oh, it's Lara again? So it's time for me to recommend Lara and Johnny Hallyday "Requiem pour un fou" once again, to have the contrast between Lara singing beautifully emotional like in Caruso and her singing beautifully powerful and yet hit you in the feels. Which is an ability that makes her similar to Floor, at least for me.

Lara Fabian is like a female version of Elvis Presley when Elvis sang deep meaningful songs... he also had that immeasurable talent of pouring his heart out with such ease... I put Lara's Je Suis Malade and Carusso performances at the same level of Elvis singing "If I can dream" or Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" etc which is the absolute pinnacle of emotion pouring out of the mouth of a singer... It's so sad that Lara is only well known and very popular mostly in Europe and very unknown in the US... the mainstream music industry would be so much better with role models like her...

Think it fits to post this as she just had birthday. I'm a great fan of Luciano Pavarotti but - to me - Lara's version comes prior to his (sorry Pav !). Her Italian is stunning even regarding her child-years in Sicily. Simply love her story telling, her 'living' the song with every tone, body-language and expression you can read from her face. If that makes sense to you. Thanks !!! And stay well 👍🤞😊

I totally agree. I believe that words for her are so important, as the talented songwriter she is, that she takes care of finding the nuances and colors ( voice or interpretation ) for every single word. And to understand the context of the song’s creation. She is never showcasing her vocal skills without a purpose.

I regret the fact that most of America didn't get to enjoy Lara Fabian just because the music industry didn't back her because she didn't sing or act over the top/vulgar. Europe and other countries got the cream of the crop when she decided to perform there.

The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla (from Bologna, northern Italy), wrote this in 1986 while staying in one of the rooms where Enrico Caruso, former famous tenor (From Neaples, southern Italy), spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucio Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life. curiosity: in sicilian dialect the word caruso means (ragazzo) boy.

"Caruso" was written to honor Enrico Caruso, the great Italian tenor who died young, shortly after his daughter was born.....this piece imagines Caruso's last words to his wife and his daughter........"Te voglio bene assai' (I love you very much)....originally written for a male tenor, all the great (and near great) male and female operatic performers have sung this piece

This is a song written about the famous Opera singer Enrico Caruso. He was Italian but his fame came only when he moved to the US. There are a few references to his Opera career in the song (creating a character, wearing makeup, etc). Lucio Dala wrote the song when he stayed at the same hotel that Caruso stayed at at the end of his life. The hotel staff told Dala the story. The young girl with the green eyes in the song is his American socialite wife, Dorothy Park Benjamin, who was about 20 years his junior. They had a little girl, Gloria. They'd only been married for three years when he died of an infection at the age of 48. So, unfortunately, this song is quite a sad song. I've heard it sung by many famous and acclaimed singers and have NEVER liked it. In fact I disliked it and would always skip it if possible. Then I heard Lara sing it... Then I heard Lara sing it... Then I heard Lara sing it. Do I need to say more?

Dear Jen, this is the 3rd reaction i see you made abt Lara Fabian. And here is my appreciation, thank you so much! No one can touch our hearts more than Lara. Maybe you interested abt the the story of this song. Lucio Dalla, an italian cantautore, wrote this song while he was standing in the same room where Caruso talked to his young wife and told her that she is the love of his life. There is also a movie "Caruso". Caruso was played by another great italian opera singer, Mario Lanza. As Lara Fabian is an idol for Dimash (he once said somewhere), they had a concert together. 20 years after her Caruso, Dimash was singing together with Lara Fabian and Aida Garifullina. Oh, and a highly recommendation: "Je t'aime" by Lara Fabian live at the concert in Paris!!

Great reaction, thank you so much Jen. Great song about the dying days of perhaps the greatest tenor in history, Enrico Caruso. He was married to a much younger women and the composer, Lucio Dalla, imagined him in those final days saying goodbye to his young wife, a marriage that is a well documented epic love story. Dalla even visited the hotel room in Sorrento, on the gulf mentioned in this beautiful song, that Caruso and his young wife stayed at many times, as he wrote the song. This great song has been done by many many artists, and Lara's version is the best interpretation I have ever seen. Even better than the great maestro, Luciano Pavarotti, whom I adore. Great song, inspired interpretation, exquisitely executed, in perfect Italian. A masterclass of sound, vision, and drama. A lasting capsule of our then young Queen, Lara, long may she reign.

A few others to consider. "Perdere L'amore" with English subtitles and "You're Not From Here" below are newly restored and of high quality. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5TQmXacfZ6CnLM - turn CC on - Lara Fabian "Perdere L'amore"...Losing Love... (Italian with English subs) Another Italian classic, destroyed by Lara in perfect Italian. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKebiXmOgL2Fgqs "You're Not From Here" English - Maybe my favorite Lara song. The 100th time you see\hear it will still feel like the first. Lara is definitely the deep end of the pool. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqa2dZegipmGbq8 - Lara Fabian- "Mademoiselle Hyde" - live 2016 (In English with Deutsch/Português subs) She co-wrote this with the maestro, Igor Krutoy. This is the most recent of the videos (2016) and shows a maturing Lara killing it. Great song, evocative, and as always, Lara sells it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ommVZ6Wid7Shb9k - Lara Fabian - "Je T'aime" (I Love you) - (In French with English subtitle) Everyone in France knows this song. She wrote it. Two versions here. One, here in this paragraph, is a great version in its own right, the second is from a live performance where the audience takes over the song and sings "We love you" to Lara in place over the actual lyrics "I love you" and a broken up Lara attempts to sing counterpart to her adoring audience. Tissues required. I recommend doing the last one, the 2nd version of "Je T'aime" below.....last. By then, you will be in a life long relationship with Lara. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGSTaqiKo514qbc - Lara Fabian - Je t'aime _ with English subtitles maybe watch this last (see one up from here for "why").

@@diannaw3034 Thank you and no problem. Lara hit me like a thunderbolt a little over a year ago. I was embarrassed I had barely heard of her. Now, I consider her the greatest performer of the last 30 years. She has inspired most of the worlds best young singers, some of them profoundly. I am simply spellbound. On a different note, as for her voice only, I have not seen many serious attempts to explain her voice tonal quality. There are many great singers but Lara has a "something" few of even the greats have and I have been trying to get a handle on it. A couple of highly trained people have said her "ring" (She is known as the Queen of "ring"), her resonance, is off the charts as the sound moves through her chest, larynx, head and out...almost out over the top of her head (which I am not sure I understand). This may be the answer but all I know is, beyond her beautiful musical interpretations, beyond the physical memorizing motion\drama and stage presence she brings, beyond the near perfect technique and the million beautiful touches she puts into a song, what is haunting me is her tone. Her belts, for example, are legendary but listen to them...when she wants, she has this powerful brassy epic belt yet it somehow has a warm tone. Incomparable. Still trying to fully answer the question...'What is it about her voice that is so ridiculously beautiful?".

Thank you for your reaction. Bella,Bella, and you are Bella.Bella, too. After you came back, and admitted ,Lara's version of Adagio, was better. I have been since following you. But thanks to Dimash, saying she is his idol. Every one has been playing her.

Please forgive me but I can't handle the english language very well. However Caruso Is a a song of Lucio Dalla an italian artist. There is a story behind this Song. One day Lucio Dalla broke is boat in front of Gulf of Sorrento. I Asked a friend for help and the friend was the owner of the hotel (Grand Hotel Excelsior Victoria) where Caruso (famous tenor of the past) died. The friend gave to Lucio the Caruso's room. At the same time chance willed that the barman of the restaurant "La Scogliera" tale to Lucio Dalla that Caruso had fallen in love with an unrequited love for a young girl to which he gave singing lessons. Shortly after, Caruso died. In his room Lucio found the piano that belonged to Caruso and inspired by this story began to play a few notes. A little later the song was ready.

I am impressed by Lara's singing of this song. But I first heard it sung by Helene Fischer. And that is imprinted on my brain (or what little is left of it). I am pleased to have Lara as a backup, however, because Helene keeps trying to kill herself. That story is ridiculous and horrible at the same time.

Lara also sings about powerful but happier emotions in "You're Not From Here" and "Love by Grace" both in English. You can find them both on KZbin at: "Lara Fabian - You're not from here (From Lara with love, 2000, 1080p restored quality)" and "Lara Fabian - Love by Grace [Live]"

Hi from Italy, I really like your reactions. I would like to hear your opinion on another interpretation of a well-known Italian singer entitled "losing love". Trust me, you will be blown away by the lyrics, musicality and of course Lara's talent. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5TQmXacfZ6CnLM

Lara has two native languages : french from her father and italian from her sicilian mother. Her granfather ( on mother's side ) was an american from Detroit (english). From what I've heard she went in Spain to study spanish, a close language to italian. She sings 8 other languages. Not bad at all.

Lara is a co-author of the song Adagio. I hope she can sing it. Same for broken vow that also sing by numerous others including Josh Groban.

Love is like a battlefield? Try this out - in loveness is a battlefield. Love is where you prefer another over yourself. Naive juvenile rubbish someone says? Well fact is I am seventy two years old and that’s the truth about love!

Actually, Lara is (visually) more attractive now, in her fifties, than she was in her twenties. How does that happen?

If not,(that is, if you haven't been exposed to it on some prior occasion) might it be worth your while to check it out and post your impressions ?
