don't stress out dude ahah it'll be fun if you are just open to things and try to make the best of whatever happens! lolol i'd recommend asking friends what they're wearing/ how formal it is (homecomings tend to be on the formal side?) and in terms of dancing, just don't be afraid to look silly- the worst thing you can do at a dance is stand there awkwardly and not dance at all haha (just look at what dance moves other people are doing and subtly copy them lol)

as a guy I'm gonna say this to the girls. if you're waiting for a guy to ask you out, don't just dont. 50 percent of the time guys are waiting for girls to ask THEM. and I usually ask girls but most of my friends wait for girls to do it. also a tip for guys and slow dancing, I learnt this the hard way, so I had a great friend and we were going to the dance and we have missed dead all that before we were a "couple" anyways, In the slow dance if you're I a situation like I was, place you're hands a tad bit above the hips to start but move your hands slowly down in the dance and work into it.

I know it's intimidating when friends/ peers make a big deal over our insecurities and point out things we wish people could just ignore, but every experience in life is a new opportunity to try something new. and high school only happens once, you might as well take advantage of trying every new thing because it's so much better than regretting not trying something new. plus, it seems scary now, but when you look back on it, it'll feel so insignificant and far away there's no point in being afraid of anything :)

Honestly, I hate school dances. I'm always a 3rd wheel and it just ends out embarrassing, depressing or boring so nah. My 10 Tips to Survive Your First High School Dance 1. Don't go. 2. If you feel guilty about doing the above, don't worry; you're not missing out on too much. 3. If you *still* feel guilty, let me tell you right now--unless grinding, listening to crappily-mixed rap/pop music, and getting groped by random guys is your thing, you really won't be missing out too much. 4. If you *do* go, and somebody starts feeling you up on the dance floor, feel free to roundhouse kick him/her if they made you feel uncomfortable. 5. Instead of wasting $60+ to go to a dance that you will most likely not remember, save your money and go to Disneyland, Anime Expo, or anywhere else that you fancy. 6. If it's just the dressing up aspect of high school dances that you like, then hold and anti-Homecoming or anti-Winter Formal or whatever and dress up. Then, hang out at a friends house and play Mario Kart or something that you guys will all enjoy. 7. If you are roped into going, either because you made a bet that you lost or your mom forced you, don't let the dance ruin your mood! Tell yourself no matter how bad you might think your life is, at least you're not in the hardened cluster of bodies in the middle of the "dance floor." Heaven knows what goes on there. 8. If you've been roped into going, and you're in a trolling mood, act out on it! Grab a chaperone whenever kids start grinding on each other and tell them that it offends your religion so that you can get them to break up, go up to the DJ constantly and request songs that he probably doesn't have, or start singing off-key as loud as you can to every single song. 9. Some people are actors. If you're one of them, and you happen to be buy an obnoxious group of girls who are clearly drunk and trying way too hard to be "mature," go up to them, pretend that you're drunk as well and mock them. Don't make it too obvious though. You might hurt their feelings. 10. Disregard all of the above if you actually like high school dances, which is perfectly fine. Just don't reply and tell me that "I need to get a life." You have what you like, and guess what? I do too. Go to your dances and enjoy them. Just leave us alone about how "You had a great time."
