You would want to actually connect to an external display if you are going to dock it though. I actually just bought this laptop and it has a lot of trouble connecting to external displays. Maybe it is just a driver issue but the screen goes crazy and has lots of visual artifacts if you try to plug it into an external display. Sometimes it returns to normal eventually but it can take a while to do so. I was pretty disappointed about that. Actually, the laptop seems a little glitchy overall. I don't know if it is just because the laptop is newer to the market and they need to work on the drivers. Hopefully it gets fixed.

IPS is superior to OLED, especially a quality one like on this laptop. It looks as good (in some ways better) and doesn't have the flaws like burn-in risk, eyestrain, flicker. Side power buttons are a Godsend for anyone who uses the laptop docked with an external monitor.

I somewhat agree, I prefer IPS for productivity (research and writing), but OLED looks amazing for concent cunsomption or anything that has to do with graphical work. Also OLED only come with glossy finish that really struggle in imprefect lighting environments, while matt screens, though less sharp, deal better with reflections. With that said the new anti-reflective coating Samsung has on the new s24 Ultra and Tab S10 Ultra looks really good, I hope to see that on some laptops soon enough...

Why does it seem like no one can make a perfect laptop anymore? If you want solid construction and attractive design you trade port selection, maybe except for in the $1500+ price range, but even then the Surface Laptop 15 doesn't have an HDMI port or full size SD card slot and the 15" Macbook Pro does not have a USB Type A port. Like what the fuck are we doing? The whole point of a laptop is to be portable, which means not carrying multiple adapters wherever you go. If there was an AMD or Intel version of the Surface Laptop 7 (whether 14 or 15 inch) and it had a full size SD card slot and HDMI port, I would buy it right away. This laptop seems so close to being the best Windows laptop out right now, but it has a poor webcam and poor speakers. Lenovo was so close.

I hear they are selling poorly with high return rates, so I suspect devs are not rushing to update to WOA compatibility. I am still waiting for Bitdefender VPN and Google Drive; neither run at all on my X Elite.

Hey Josh, no mention of how AI runs or affects the overall performance of the laptop. Although still niche case scenarios at this point, MS 11 will just become more AI hungry as time progresses, like it or not. The lack of cores and lack of multi core performance in comparison to the Snapdragons right now might not make that big of a difference but 6-12 months from now, it may. Most people upgrade their laptop's every 3-5 years. You think these will hold up over that time period?

Is it just assumed that all laptops have equally great wifi reception now? That's something no one seems to test anymore.

I bought this as my primary work tool (usual basic Office/Zoom/browser requirement). The camera and audio are really bad, as if this were a 10 year old machine. Zoom meetings look blotchy and the audio is as if in a hall with high celings. There is the Lenovo Vantage finetuning program but the variation is pretty minimal. Not impressed. The rest of the functionality is fine, though I think I have been overestimating the noticability of the long battery life.

The reality, unfortunately, is no PC maker gives you the things you are asking for here except Apple.

Thanks for the review. As for the weight, Lenovo website states 1.46kg and Apple says MacBook air 15 weighs 1.51kg.

So my yoga pro 7 has the backlight bleed from the 1.5 keycaps, you can literally see the LEDs under the FN row and I don't know why Lenovo did this from almost any angle is it the same on the aura edition?

In my country, this model is priced the exact same as the Vivobook 14 OLED, with the Ryzen 9 AI HX 370, 32gb ram and 1tb ssd. The vivobook is probably worse on single core performance and battery life, but it seems like a better deal. Am I stupid?
@JustJoshTech3 ай бұрын
I'd get the Aura. I think its a nicer machine. But it absolutely depends on your use case. The Vivobook you mentioned is powerful

Could you please make a review of the new Asus Expertbook P5 with Lunar Lake?
@slaynnyt81302 ай бұрын
Hey really appreciate the Linux review! A suggestion though, please specify which Kernel version you are running in those tests, and would be nice if you could test the latest Kernel version as those tend to have better support for new hardware.
@JustJoshTech2 ай бұрын
In our latest reviews we are using the newest version of Fedora to handle that. We are using the Beta branches btw.

@@JustJoshTech thanks for clarifying! If you do more linux tests in future videos please add the Kernel version alongside the distro, would help a ton. Keep up the great work!

Lenovo is really testing out with 2880, 2944 and 3072 resolutions. Out of those I find the 3072 is the most comfortable for 14.5, 15.3 inch displays with 200% scaling.

likely glossy, as it's a touchscreen

Extra glossy, and some reviews it looks like they gave it a reflective coating on purpose. Hopefully they release an option that doesn't have the ultra low end busted touch screen that adds multiple reflective layers.

If I were to buy it for video editing, which would be better, MacBook Air or Yoga Slim?
@PlatinAviation3 ай бұрын
I’d definitely go for the Yoga
@andyH_England3 ай бұрын
Depends on the level of video editing. If you are doing 4K with layers, I would buy neither, as you need a PC with a dGPU or more cores like in the MB Pro M3 Pro. Both of these are ultrabooks; you should not buy them if you are interested in extensive gaming or video editing.

I think the s16 is a better laptop it weighs the same. It has a better 16-inch OLED, better ports, webcam,design, and speakers. It outperforms it and gets better battery life. I know it will be a little cooler and quieter, but that's it. I think the October heat wave is getting to you. But your spot on when you mention the P16. I saw a sale on it at Best Buy for 1699 for the 4060 hard for others to compete. I still think I'd take the s14 for a truly portable device.
@marcopn11743 ай бұрын
In some regards yes. The low brightness in combination with the glossy display sucks, tho. It's also 400 bucks more expensive. Unsure I'd that's reasonable
@gadgetsawol36143 ай бұрын
Yea I really want to love the ProArt 16 too but being stuck at 60hz really is a deal breaker. Its a shame because at 1699 getting a 4060 dGPU, 32GB ram, an excellent 4k OLED screen really has the makings of a perfect laptop.
@drinkwater98913 ай бұрын
@@gadgetsawol3614 yeah but dgpu means bad battery life, better to have desktop for heavy work and thin n light long battery ultrabook for travel
@leonardwise58072 ай бұрын
@marcopn1174 It's only 100 dollars difference at Best Buy! For the S16, 400 more for the Pro Art which is entirely a different class of laptop. As for 60 htz agree should be at least 90 but all laptops have downsides and the pros of this laptop far exceed that limitation. Pick one up and try it at 1699 it's the best laptop you can buy. I recently found out with g helper you can run it at 30 watts and for light use can get 15 hours of battery use.

Pardon my ignorance but which one is the s16? I'd love to look it up but i want to make sure it's the right one. Thank you!
