2:30 : In Windows, there's option to make power button unable to perform something, like sleep or shut down accidentally. 1. Go to "Control Panel" 2. Select "Power Options" 3. Click "Choose what the power button does" 4. When seeing "When I press the power button" option, set both on Battery and Plugged In "Do Nothing" Voila, now power button won't make this happened. Although It can be a problem if need to "Sleep" for some. I did said like this on previous videos. I guess someone has seen it or not. But that's what can I say

You would want to actually connect to an external display if you are going to dock it though. I actually just bought this laptop and it has a lot of trouble connecting to external displays. Maybe it is just a driver issue but the screen goes crazy and has lots of visual artifacts if you try to plug it into an external display. Sometimes it returns to normal eventually but it can take a while to do so. I was pretty disappointed about that. Actually, the laptop seems a little glitchy overall. I don't know if it is just because the laptop is newer to the market and they need to work on the drivers. Hopefully it gets fixed.

IPS is superior to OLED, especially a quality one like on this laptop. It looks as good (in some ways better) and doesn't have the flaws like burn-in risk, eyestrain, flicker. Side power buttons are a Godsend for anyone who uses the laptop docked with an external monitor.

A month ago I sell my MBA M1 and 3 days ago I received at home the Aura. As a Threadripper 3960X desktop PC user, when I don't need to do something powerful, the Aura is perfect for my needs. More than enough for daily tasks, quiet and it runs pretty cool.

@@Winnetou17 I didn't go with a Mac this time because of the RAM issues. I run Docker containers and this is where the Mac pooped out. I'd have gone for an M3 MBA but they stop at 26 gigs of RAM. The MBPs are twice the price of the Framework I got. Other than RAM needs, the MBP seems overkill. Plus repairability of these laptops , upgradeability, and so on. For DevOps, I think Linux is still a better choice OS.

It feels like the Qualcomm laptops came at a bad time. Intel and AMD's competition has finally produced the great chips we wanted, so the benefits of Qualcomm's chips are no longer as attractive while their downsides remain. We are absolutely going to see the more premium Lunar Lake laptops soon (the Spectre x360 replacement just came out, for example).

@mastroitek

I somewhat agree, I prefer IPS for productivity (research and writing), but OLED looks amazing for concent cunsomption or anything that has to do with graphical work. Also OLED only come with glossy finish that really struggle in imprefect lighting environments, while matt screens, though less sharp, deal better with reflections. With that said the new anti-reflective coating Samsung has on the new s24 Ultra and Tab S10 Ultra looks really good, I hope to see that on some laptops soon enough...

Great video Josh and it looks like Lunar Lake is incredibly promising for x86 for battery, performance and form factor Unfortunately the pricing for Yoga Slim 7i is all over the place outside the US. For example in New Zealand this laptop is priced at $4099NZD ~ $2566 USD, mean while if you compare against what Apple offers a base 14" M3 Pro 11 core MacBook Pro is $3999 ~ $2504 USD and the 16GB variant of 15" M3 MBA is $3199 NZD ~ $2002 USD With a pricing like this Lunar Lake is effectively dead in certain regions

Why does it seem like no one can make a perfect laptop anymore? If you want solid construction and attractive design you trade port selection, maybe except for in the $1500+ price range, but even then the Surface Laptop 15 doesn't have an HDMI port or full size SD card slot and the 15" Macbook Pro does not have a USB Type A port. Like what the fuck are we doing? The whole point of a laptop is to be portable, which means not carrying multiple adapters wherever you go. If there was an AMD or Intel version of the Surface Laptop 7 (whether 14 or 15 inch) and it had a full size SD card slot and HDMI port, I would buy it right away. This laptop seems so close to being the best Windows laptop out right now, but it has a poor webcam and poor speakers. Lenovo was so close.

Most recent Intel systems don't have updates in the Linux kernel for their wifi or touchpads. I suggest going to the package managers by doing a hotspot with a cellphone (making it into your USB router/USB wifi card) and installing what you need. For Intel wifi systems, it is usually iwlwifi

This laptop goes for $2361(SGD) here is Singapore. After conversion, it is nearly 1800USD. Whats worse is that it is the same specs as shown in the video. Personally, i would wait until the m4 chips are announced, and then see whether i can pick up laptops with ryzen 8845HS or if im lucky a Ryzen AI 9 for $2000SGD For reference, 1 Canadian dollar=1 Singapore dollar or thereabouts.

@@JustJoshTech Yes, they are not bringing it to the USA again. More underhanded deals with Intel. Which is a good reason in its own right to never buy another Intel laptop. They are deliberately hurting the competition by limiting the configurations and even machines that come to the USA in order to protect their MarketShare. You should talk about this in all of your videos; so people don't get the wrong idea and think that Intel deserves anyones business.

Hey Josh, no mention of how AI runs or affects the overall performance of the laptop. Although still niche case scenarios at this point, MS 11 will just become more AI hungry as time progresses, like it or not. The lack of cores and lack of multi core performance in comparison to the Snapdragons right now might not make that big of a difference but 6-12 months from now, it may. Most people upgrade their laptop's every 3-5 years. You think these will hold up over that time period?

I bought this as my primary work tool (usual basic Office/Zoom/browser requirement). The camera and audio are really bad, as if this were a 10 year old machine. Zoom meetings look blotchy and the audio is as if in a hall with high celings. There is the Lenovo Vantage finetuning program but the variation is pretty minimal. Not impressed. The rest of the functionality is fine, though I think I have been overestimating the noticability of the long battery life.

Depends on the level of video editing. If you are doing 4K with layers, I would buy neither, as you need a PC with a dGPU or more cores like in the MB Pro M3 Pro. Both of these are ultrabooks; you should not buy them if you are interested in extensive gaming or video editing.

I think the s16 is a better laptop it weighs the same. It has a better 16-inch OLED, better ports, webcam,design, and speakers. It outperforms it and gets better battery life. I know it will be a little cooler and quieter, but that's it. I think the October heat wave is getting to you. But your spot on when you mention the P16. I saw a sale on it at Best Buy for 1699 for the 4060 hard for others to compete. I still think I'd take the s14 for a truly portable device.

@marcopn1174 It's only 100 dollars difference at Best Buy! For the S16, 400 more for the Pro Art which is entirely a different class of laptop. As for 60 htz agree should be at least 90 but all laptops have downsides and the pros of this laptop far exceed that limitation. Pick one up and try it at 1699 it's the best laptop you can buy. I recently found out with g helper you can run it at 30 watts and for light use can get 15 hours of battery use.
