Great take on this song as usual, thanks! But I have a feeling you'll love "Parents" so much, their most emotional and epic track.

All Budgie albums up to and including "If I Were Britannia I'd Wave the Rules" are really solid affairs..... now please get to In For The Kill, In The Grip of a Tyre Fitters Hand, Zoom Club.... lots to choose from actually.

Always love when Budgie is in a "reaction" vid. A truly great band. I'm a (bread)fan since I was a kid and they released this album. So many good tracks you could react to. My fave is "Zoom Club" from "In For The Kill".

Yeah classic track indeed! So much energy, infectious riff... but then that slow down acoustic middle section really shows the variety these guys had in their sound...it's like two songs in one, but segue perfectly into each other. This is the tune that first got me into Budgie and it really takes me back. These guys' early albums are all top notch, this album in particular, worth hearing all of it for sure!

Wasn't the world a nicer place with Budgie in it? Along with fellow Welshmen, Man, they are well known (and respected) by those with a decent knowledge of the history of rock but sadly neglected by the masses. Breadfan is perhaps their best with the roots of a hundred NWoBHM and thrash bands therein.

I got to see Budgie once in the early 80's . I was and still am am a total prog fan and I thought they were a bit basic. But after the years go buy you have to give Burke Shelley kudos for being a great singer and bass player.

Glad to see you react to this band again. They are definitely worth it, and if you have the time, it would be great to see you react to more of their songs in the future. To the titles others already mentioned in this thread, i'd add "Parents", which i'd personally consider to be the best song on the "Never turn your back on a friend" album.

Over the last couple of months I’ve been diving pretty deep into Budgie. Previously I was only really familiar with this track (due to the Metallica cover) and their debut album. “Guts” might just be one of the best opening tracks of any album in my opinion: though it faces strong competition from Breadfan. Budgie really knew how to kick things off! I’d definitely recommend that record for your full album list. Band definitely doesn’t get the props they deserve these days, the more I’m listening to them the more I like them. Great stuff.

Can tell by how many times you look at the camera when you really like something. And this was one of those. If you want to keep going and do an album, I would recommend the debut. It has another song Metallica covered, Crash Course In Brain Surgery. But they are a pretty consistent band, just hope you keep going with them.

I thought you'd enjoy this one. Nice to be right about things all the time like this. :D If you want a light (in all ways, maybe) Budgie for the road (it's still a song for breaking the law to) one day, try Smile Boy Smile. (It's also one of those one can hop around in the yard to with one's wife on a moonlit night when you don't mind alarming your neighbours, and need to get a bit envigorated before tackling dinner. It's on their album *Impeckable*

Went with the edited version eh JP.... Oh well, you didn't miss a lot. Yeah, not a fave of mine, of theirs, this one. Yes, crackin' opening riff, but they drag it out too long. Little solo, nice, but then the rocky break prior the quiet bit i don't think flows well. Then the quiet bit just sounds like padding. And then of course, the reprise. As is, ok, but with a bit of trimming could've been a brill 4 (4 and a half, max) minuter.

Fifty bars of the same godamn riff before the song gets out of the bloody gate. When I was a kid I would have rocked with that. Anyway, the Metallica cover was the only good thing that band ever produced, so props to Budgie for writing a dumb fun classic.
