Counterargument to “the browns should’ve drafted Josh Allen instead of Baker Mayfield”: Josh allen was not a good qb at first and needed a lot of development. His first season, he had 10 TDs and 12 INTs. Idk if he ever would’ve played well if he went to the Browns. In that scenario, the Bills maybe would’ve even picked Baker mayfield and he might’ve ended up playing like Josh allen did lmao
@undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 Жыл бұрын
And what's the counter-argument for not using that pick on Lamar Jackson? Its not like this guy popped out of nowhere. Or the counter-argument for not using that pick on Barkley and packaging that extra 2nd with that extra 6th for a late first to then get Jackson? Or the counter to saying "you know what? Mayfield looks like a fine QB talent but nothing about him screams "great NFL QB" so we will use our picks to further solidify our o- and d-line's, while also securing some offensive talent and maybe a corner, then find our QB in 2019", then going with Murray since they'd have the worst record in the league again? Counter-argument to your counter-argument..... Yes, coming out of college Allen seemed more like a long term project... what that means for nfl qb's anymore, i honestly don't know.... 3 years? 2? But while Allen on the surface seemed to be a project, clearly other teams saw his potential enough to draft him in the top 7, which in my opinion and in most cases, says number 1 overall is fine, it all depends on your needs. Cleveland still seemed to go with the safe, more traditional qb pick... the straight out of Texas born (Sooner but right out of TX) to be a qb guy. the safest of safe picks one could make. But again, some teams and i say "some teams " because we know multiple teams had Allen targeted in the top 15, saw what he was and had the vision to draft him appropriately........ ..........which brings us to the real counter-argument to your counter-argument. To be a long term successful franchise in the nfl, hell any sports league, it takes vision, planning and foresight and at times a bit of risk. Things that while the Browns have thrown together a few solid teams over the last decade, the Browns completely lack as a franchise and is what is keeping them from long term success and what kept them from making the 2 obviously better picks or explore other options.

It really is depressing how things turned out with Baker. I'm not a Browns fan, but I was always sort of rooting for them and was really happy when they got that playoff win. But poor management exacerbated every weakness in Baker's game (not throwing stones, since my Panthers did the same thing for half this season) and now he's kind of adrift. I'm hoping Baker can find some place that'll let him prove himself, or at the very least establish himself as a decent journeyman option. What really sucks is Baker seemed like one of the only athletes who really loved repping Cleveland. Whether that's just marketing or whatever, it seemed for a little while like he was going to be The Guy, and even if he never won a ring he could be a figure for the city that hadn't really had one since Lebron left. As for Baker's replacement, I hope he loses every game he plays and that team management choke on that awful contract.

On the other hand, if Allen had had two years behind that OL and with Chubb running the ball, his won/loss would have probably been just fine. Add on top of that the fact that it's hard to escape the reputation he has now regardless of how the accusations turn out on court. Hard to really get people interested in your team when your star player has that reputation. Meanwhile Baker was a huge fan favorite. Wasn't perfect but with more time to develop he probably could end up being pretty decent, which is a monumental upgrade over every other QB the Browns have had for years.

Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen would've just been forgotten about Browns busts if they'd have been drafted by the Browns. You do understand the Browns would have ruined any qb that has been drafted right? I mean not only Josh Allen, but I seriously doubt anyone could handle the way it has treated it's qbs. Confidence is a tough thing to cultivate and eventually the team just leaves qbs asking if it is actually them and then it is almost game over. Jury is still out on Baker. Just because he came in and teams didn't know how to scheme against him and he had a few good games don't mean shit. Lets see how he does.

If Watson doesn't start out next season as an MVP favorite Browns front office is going to look like idiot's. I'm including ownership and I hate to say Haslam grew up 20min from my hometown.

I don’t really get the decision to not say Deshaun Watson’s name. I get avoiding naming people who are famous only for doing a bad thing like school shooters and neo nazis as those types often crave fame and that fame can embolden them and inspire others to take similar actions but like Deshaun Watson is famous anyway so I’d be interested in hearing your reasoning for excluding his name

Honestly I am not even going to say it's bad QB's anymore. Ya'll just cursed. Need to revamp the name, uniform, stadium. Maybe a sacrifice too just to be sure.

Browns got cursed when they left (original Browns) and became the Ravens. Art Modell won the Modell/Brown feud, sold his soul to the devil to show he has no deal with Cleveland anymore, and he was rewarded with a SB title in 2000 as the Ravens. What more evidence do you need?

here in 2024, Baker is one of the better QBs in the league and won another playoff game last season. keep all promising QBs away from the Browns and Panthers forever, they do not deserve good quarterbacks.

Ever since the browns did baker dirty and picked up the evil man who can't be named and shouldn't be allowed to play anymore......... I was hoping for a horrible season and every season from hear on out to be a meh 5 or 6 or even 7 win team never making the playoffs, and where ever baker lands, (panthers are just a hot garbage team) if he stays with the rams or goes somewhere he shows he is still a good qb

0:45 pretty sure as a ball carrier there’s no helmet to helmet penalty. Not like college targeting. Once you’re established as a runner then everything is fair game other than mask and horse collars. Either way, there’s no justifiable reason to be flagged for helmet to helmet while hitting a diving WR. Hats are gonna hit each other when the goal is to hit or avoid getting hit. Everyone’s taught that low man wins. Using your head to ram defenders is what Sweatness, Cambell, Brown, and Okoye, made careers off of. To go and start flagging defenders for diving tackles would be the end of football.

Rule 12 Section 2 Article 10 Use of the Helmet It is a foul if a player lowers his head and makes forcible contact with his helmet against an opponent. most of the example clips are similar situations to what happened in this game: operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/use-of-the-helmet/#:~:text=It%20is%20a%20foul%20if,Penalty%3A%20Loss%20of%2015%20yards.

@@justmaxproductions depending on if this is referring to the 13, 18, or 22, addendums to the rule the language saying “initiate” and “forcibly” have always been left in the ruling to gave players and refs a way to use common sense and leeway. Will admit that I believe I was referring to a rule that excluded ball carriers between the tackles that is likely now not allowed, but still allowed. Either way you’d be hard pressed to find anyone player, coach, official, or objective fan, that would consider throwing a flag for a diving tackle racing to the pylon. But guess even tho it would never and should never be called, it looks correct to say that the rules would say it’s illegal.

Watson is a guy you'd roll with if needed and he can win games, but there's no way that man can stay healthy holding the ball like that. You just can't invest all that money without more receipts. He hasn't shown he can play a different style. I would dread if he was my QB, his whole style is uncomfortable. He does bring a sense of urgency to that season though, because you think man there's no way this guy can sustain this beating.
