I love Glycine and have reviewed many of their models. I don't really think it's false advertising when they have the military time, large crown, and 50M water resistance on a field-style watch. Most dress watches have sub-50M water resistance, smaller crowns, and less text on the dial. Just my thoughts. Cheers.

Fantastic video Jody. There are several versions of the Combat 6. I had the 43mm version with Arabic numerals and great lume that was definitely a field watch..Mine had an ETA 2824 inside and came with a black nato strap. Keep great videos coming!

I have a Combat 6 Vintage. It was a more field-style watch with a Twin Arabic dial and a NATO strap. Many military style watches have both a 12-hour and 24-hour track. This also completely changes the aesthetics of the watch.

Very nice review. I recommend trying to find the pre-Invicta version if you are shopping on Ebay. The handset is just a bit longer (I really like that the seconds and hour hand reach the markers) and this seems to give the dial better overall balance. Plus, the movement is actually decorated with Geneva stripes (not a big deal, but still, a nice touch). I picked one up used for $225 US and have been loving it on both a blue rallye strap with white contrast stitching and a blue dress strap. Tried the newer models, but found them lacking in every way except the price. If you can find pre-Invicta, pull the trigger. It is definitely worth it.

@BlindProphet4134 жыл бұрын
This is really pretty, and the 13-24 track looks good; makes a nice symmetry with the indices and minute track numbers. I guess that 13-24 track is why they're calling it a Field Watch, but I agree it's basically a dress watch with one field aspect. As others have said, things like the Explorer can certainly double as dress watches, but it's pretty clear they're field first, dress second. That said, I think your title of "false advertising" is a little extreme; when I clicked on this I was expecting a blatant lie about the product specs or quality or something. Maybe that's just my own history with the term, though. Or, maybe that's the joke: Glycine over-naming their watch, you over-naming the video about it? Did it go over my head? Maybe I'm just being thick. And, like the others, I thoroughly enjoyed the game show intro! Another excellent video, sir!

Jody, or perhaps my fellow viewers - the 36 mm 'Combat 6' is 42 mm Lug to Lug, as stated. I have about a 7.25 inch wrist (weather dependent ??? ). The Question is ; What's the Lug to Lug measurement, on the "43mm Model" ? I already own a "blue dial" version of the Hamilton " Interstellar" (42mm Case / Lug to Lug - about 48 mm- so stated as the Lugs are curved). Great Video, as always ! btw - I've noted on the Hamilton and a Tissot 7750 based -Chrono I own; "Crown Winding" is Tight, as the Rotor seems to Drag, during Winding (to my ears, anyway) - Is this the Norm for most ETA / Sellita movements ???

Glycine is not the only manufacturer that has so many models that the naming gets a little strange. Citizen and Bulova come to mind. I got started with Glycine with a Combat Sub Quartz Chronograph GL1001. I regret not also buying the GL1005 variant when the price got even lower. Now the prices are back up, so I am glad I got at least one. I have an Airman 42 GMT GL0064 coming soon. From my brief experience with Glycine, I would recommend figuring out which models you are most interested in and be ready to buy when the price drops. This applies with any watch brand, but Glycine seems to have larger price variations than other brands. And, what’s with the outrageous MSRP’s?

Regardless of the mis-labeling of this watch, I feel all the Glycine watches offer great value, especially at the prices we find them at online.... the "MSRP" prices found on the official website seem very Invicta-like, i.e. they show really high prices , but they are always sold at a much lower price. Yet, they are still great Swiss made watches with a great heritage behind the brand.

I have a Glycine combat sub, and airman. I love the looks and case shape, especially sleekness, is my favorite characteristic, however, I HATE that they are not very legible. Hands are far too thin and their design does not provide enough hand contrast. I may sell them both for that reason.

I had one in the 43mm size with a 22mm untapered bracelet. I thought I could get used to it, but it just wore too big. It was very low profile and thin though. It was weird that they had such a huge difference between the sizes! Nice watch though, at a very low price! The beautiful rotors are Rubidium plated, which is an amazing touch for the price, that makes the movements look upscale without decorating them. They did have a moon phase version in 40mm. Now that's an even weirder field watch, HA! I also have a low-profile 41mm Combat Sub Dive watch that I think is one of the nicest looking Dive watches on the market...
