I HAVE THAT WATCH FROM THE 80s!!! It's beautiful. You call the colors tacky? I think it's prettier than these new ones. One thing... in my 80s watch, you could hold 2 buttons in at the same time and it would go into a glitzy display mode where the twin graphs would spin in Kool patterns and other graphics every few seconds. It's awesome!

Something about some of these old Casios jog my memory I remember somewhere around the same time. There was a bunch of digi pens with the digital clocks in them. I remember owning several of them

Something about the designs of Casio LCD digital watches looks so aesthetically pleasing and nostalgic. Their design language hasn't change for many decades and they still look great even to the present day.

I’ve been wearing mine for a couple weeks now, and it’s pretty damn comfortable. And the band does something I have not seen on other bands, and I don’t know if Casio did this intentionally. But the little pokey thing falls backwards out of the hole when you undo the clasp. This means you don’t have to try to dig it out with your finger nail, and it makes taking off the watch alot easier.

It is probably never going to happen. Casio doesnt make metal cases nowadays. Only on the A1000, but those are way bigger and bulkier. On these smaller/vintage models even the ones that look like metal are just "painted" resin and they start to look ugly after a while. I'd rather just have a regular black resin case like this one.

I recently got Casio's WS1600 which shares the case with the Casio Royale AE1200 and the AE1300. A brand new model, in a familiar case with retro vibes. More substantial looking than this model and available in 3 colorways. I got the blue version for just under $25 USD at Walmart online. Casio continues to be my favorite watch brand. I would love your take on it Jody. Great video as always.

Coming back to say I ordered this after seeing this video and have now been wearing it for a few days. I got the beige one (for a bit under MSRP surprisingly) and I think it’s an incredible summer watch. It’s the perfect size for my 6.5” wrist and like many other small casios it’s so light I can forget I’m wearing it. Thanks for sharing about this watch!

This watch meets what I need in a watch. A stopwatch of more than an hour, being able to see the time and the stopwatch at the same time, and quartz. I think the Gshock 5600 does this, as does my current two watches, the Casio AE1200 as you mentioned, and my Seiko Flightmaster. So this watch could work for me as well, and it isn't as chunky as the AE1200.

It just seems like the AE1200 offers more function and specs, for much less money. The LF20W is priced between $70 and $95 delivered, in the US. I bought my AE1200 for $16.50 USD, and it is 100m WR w/a 10 yr. battery.

Very nice retro piece, though to be honest the lack of colours on the face, it's probably more on the boring side than the sophisticated. It's a watch that should be a bit more fun looking. As for the design, the dial is like a first draft of the more refined looking Casio Royale which has a 10 year battery and enough water resistance to allow you to wear it while swimming. Definitely worth having the slightly bigger AE-1200. But what do I know? It's selling out!! Excellent video Jody!

Solar reduces display clarity. And a lot of Casio watches have 10 year batteries. Digital only really need solar if they have radio synch to an atomic clock - that burns power.

It really feels like Casio are missing a crucial segment in their line up. A digital watch, filled with modern technology that isn't a G Shock. A little premium digital solar, 100m water resistance, Bluetooth, has something like a step tracker or GPS for running and cycling installed. I think that would really see it return to greatness.

This is a nice looking watch. I wish the display was better quality. My favourite Casio is the gw-6900….although my favourite digital watch in my collection is the Hamilton PSR. That watch is such high quality and it just feels so amazing on wrist. I wish Jodi would review one.

I love the 80's version with its colour scheme. They should have included the one you showed just for us kids that were around at the time. However of all the Casios that need to make a come back.... its gotta be all of the Game watches. Any one remember those? Just dont make them small otherwise it will be too hard to play them. Oh and the Melody alarm watch with dozens of tunes built in. Go on Casio you know you want to.

It's nice, apart from the price, I like these old retro look watches. I recently bought a new orange F-91W and a second hand black one. I just missed a G-Shock for £3.00, I'd gone past a charity shop 3 days in a row after opening hours, and it was there, the fourth day, yesterday, I was able to get there during opening hours and when I went in someone was at the counter buying it!!!!!!!!!!! Miss of The Year!

When is Casio going to provide the option of: Month first then day OR Day first then month on ALL their watches? It's there on a few of the newer offerings but surely it can't be that difficult to add that option, can it?! Not available on this watch it seems which is a good enough reason for me not to buy it - or any other Casio that doesn't sport this feature. After all, all new watches have had the 12 hour or 24 hour option for years now.

The digital and analog time readout is redundant, I feel they could have added another feature that would have improved the watch. The analog time is actually aesthetically more pleasing than digital, why not add a temperature sensor and provide that in lieu of a digital time readout? That would have been a big improvement.

Seems like very nice watches! The AE-20W is my favourite watch of all times. I wish Casio will make ones with nice colours like the F-91-WCs and F-91-WSs. In addition, usable top-right pie with 59 segments (instead of the useless 10 segments), nice animations (including the special display on the timer and the stopwatch modes) and matching plastic buttons (instead of the generic metal ones) would be great as well ^_^

The last Casio re-issue watch I bought was tge A100WE 3503 or Ripley watch as I am. HUGE Alien(s) fan. I didn’t mind so much paying more for this watch. I honestly feel that the watch depicted in this video should be $16.88 & available at wal-mart. I can’t imagine paying a premium price for this. It is a cool watch & I wouldn’t mind having it, but just not at those re-issue prices.
