Went to Tribhuvan in 75 in a 4Jet.Arrived from the South and had to drop like a stone after crossing a very high ridge.Not a very long Runway then and had to hold High due to a DC9 which had landed and burst some tyres.Eventually approached from the North and remember some high rocks on finals which we had to avoid!!!Departed a few days later and we had to run roll onto the runway because of its length to give us a fighting chance.Blew some stones etc off the end of the being built runway as we departed heading South and then it was clean up and leave full power on for some time.Wonderful Country with lovely people.

@kshitizsigdel4235 жыл бұрын
Airlines provide special simulator training for pilots doing first approaches into Kathmandu. Some airlines require pilots to be certified to be landing in Kathmandu. In most of the cases, Captains do the landings if the first officer is unfamiliar with the Kathmandu approach.

Daft question but are these planes virtually flown on automatic and auto landing
@Acepilot13125 жыл бұрын
Please explain the question clearly, but from what i’ve understood: no, they are not landed by using Auto-Landing 98% of the times. But, yes, they are flown by Auto-Pilot of-course since most of the airplanes today are flown by Auto-Pilot just after take-off or until 10,000 feet and disengaged just before landing, unless flown by Auto-Land, in that case the Auto-Pilot is disengaged after touch-down and rollout. :)
@linoleumbonypart3855 жыл бұрын
@@Acepilot1312 thanks
@NicolaW722 жыл бұрын
You can clearly hear the Autopilot-disengaged-sound on approach - the "Trill-Trill"-Noise. Such a VOR approach is a non-precision-approach - obviously they disengaged the autopilot before final approach and flew than from hand into the airport.

Please, People, Tell the World that Lord Buddha was the son of Tharu. Everyone knows today that Lord Buddha was born in Nepal but not everyone knows that Lord Buddha was Tharu. The much published on Shakyamuni Gautama Buddha and Emperor Asoka reveals that Lord Buddha was indeed Tharu. Tharus known to be very peaceful people had been living in the Kapilvastu region of Nepal since millenniums. The Tharu ethnicity of Gautama Buddha is even approved by the Government of Nepal. For over two millennia, a large portion of the eastern Himalaya has been identified as the home of the Kirat people, of which the majority are known today as Limbu, Sunuwar, Rai and Yakkha. In ancient times, the entire Himalayan region was known as the Kimpurusha Desha (also, Kirata Pradesh), a phrase derived from a Sanskrit term used to identify people of Kirat origin. The earliest references to the Kirat as principal inhabitants of the Himalayan region are found in the texts of Atharvashirsha and Mahabharata, believed to date to before the 9th century BC. For over a millennium, the Kirat had also inhabited the Kathmandu Valley, where they installed their own ruling dynasty. The Tharu people are an ethnic group indigenous to the southern foothills of the Himalayas. Most of the Tharu people live in the Nepal Terai regions. Tharu people consider themselves to be of Kirati descent. Besides the Tharu, other ethnic community groups like Dhimal, Koch, Chepang and Surel ethnic groups also consider themselves to be of Kirati descent. The Great Sons of the Tharus: Sakyamuni Buddha and Emperor Asoka, written by Nepali author Subodh Kumar Singh, contends that the Buddha, who lived and propagated his religion of non-violence and moderation between the fifth and fourth century BC, belonged to a community that today is at the bottom of the social hierarchy in Nepal, living as bonded laborers. For more information watch the video found in the youtube call Lord Buddha was Tharu, an Indigenous Nepali ethnic group

@Nandu the problem why my country is still behind is because the political powers are in the hands of racist corrupted high caste hindus. they do not want to lose their power and continue to rule Nepal. we tharus and other indigenous people of Nepal have littele control over our country. please google NEFIN and help the indigenous people of Nepal to fight the corrupted racist Hindu government.

With the advancements in computers and GPS navigation that we have these days, there really should be some advanced type of autopilot that would do the entire landing for the aircraft automatically, with an emergency 'OFF' button available on the stick just in case something goes horribly wrong with the autopilot at the last second, so the pilot could take over when they notice that the autopilot is not doing what it's supposed to do. This would work 95% of the time and would take an incredible amount of work off of the pilots. The other 5% of the time the pilots say "Oh-oh", switch off the autopilot, and land manually.
