I’ve learnt that if you have a crush on someone but get so much anxiety around them that you get nauseous etc, that’s a big red flag. When you look your obsessed with them but then you realised it’s the idea of them and their just hot but you don’t know anything about them and their friends are assholes. Trigger warnings My now ex boyfriend was a red flag and I never saw it till my friends started pointing things out. We are in middle school so it wasn't a super serious relationship. First off, he spread rumors we were dating earlier than what we were and I had just gotten done with another relationship so it seemed like I jumped from guy to guy. It was fine in the beginning, hugs, gifts, all the basic stuff that teenagers do. But then he just seemed to change. He said that his dad was beating him and that he was kicking him to the shed if he didn't start paying rent which legally he couldn't because we are minors and that is child neglect. I gave him the money because I just wanted to help out but I was very suspicious of him. " He couldn't pay the rent to stay in the house" but he could buy himself things or go skating with me for dates. Something was obviously off. He also said he could email me ( he didn't have a phone and just had a computer) but we couldn't call on talkroom( pretty much facetime for computers). If he didn't have enough wifi to call how could he email? I let my suspicions stay in the back of my mind. He was very suicidal and had a lot of mental problems. He had depression, anxiety, multi personality disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD and I think a few more things. Because I knew about that I figured he wanted attention. So like any good girlfriend, I spent time with him. He tried to kill himself Infront of me and it has scarred me. He accused me of cheating on him when there would be no evidence that I would, I told him I'm christian anyways so I wouldn't cheat since it's against the bible. He continued to accuse me of cheating or try to break up with me every other day. He told me he would kill himself if I broke up with him so I was stuck in the relationship. I told my friend about it and she helped me break up with him. He groped me multiple times and I asked him to stop multiple times and he ignored me so I finally reported that with the school and he got in trouble. He is currently going around school talking smack and saying that he never touched me when I have screenshots of him admitting to it. Luckily the school is switching his classes and making sure that we don't see eachother anymore. He is currently cutting himself and going around saying that it is my fault because I broke up with him so that is on my mind. I am very grateful for my group of friends because they protect me from him. I am continuously getting the same nightmare of him breaking into my house and beating me and punching me and just screaming that it is all my fault. I don't know what I did to him to deserve this because I was there for him all night when he was hurt, I gave him money, gave him all the attention he could ever need, I did everything for him and nearly ended my life because of him. I'm getting help now and luckily the school year is nearly over so I won't have to deal with him anymore. Just a reminder that you are worth it and you deserve to eat and drink water today. You did everything you possibly could do right and you should be proud of yourself❤ Remind yourself that him cutting himself is not your problem anymore, and maybe talk to your parents about seeing a therapist for the trauma/nightmares. I doubt he had DID (multiple personality disorder), he likely hasn’t been diagnosed with ADHD, he probably hasn’t got schizophrenia. He has got (if this is real) some SERIOUS mental problem tho, I hope he can go to a psychiatric hospital because something is VERY wrong w/ him. If anything persists, REPORT HIM TO THE POLICE

as someone who has been in the situation of liking my best friend’s ex, i think it’s important to note that you need to be willing to stop liking your friend’s ex if they are uncomfortable with the thought of that relationship. when it happened to me, i was very clear that i would do this. it’s more logical to keep a longtime friendship than to throw it away for a relationship that might not work. that’s my two cents, take it how you will 🤷‍♀️

For the boy best friend one- my personal experience was rlly bad me and him were supposed to get together but he ended up just leaving me and dating someone else. For the guy best friend one it’s a rlly hard situation if u r truly sure they like u I say go for it but I have experience that didn’t end so well for me. So rn im 14 going into high schools but last yr (7th grade) this guy came to my school and was new we became rlly good friends fast and he became my guy best friend. Everyone shipped us and told me he liked me and he did kinda flirt with me or I thought so. I thought he liked more at the beginning of the yr and the whole yr ppl shipped us. Near the end of seventh grade I started to like him over summer it was kinda an off and on thing that abt me liking him. He found out and it just wasn’t situation it over like 3 months stuff happened and we got in a huge fight. It broke my heart and I lost one of my best friends.
