I would probably place them in the same order except Open Range is better than Yellowstone in my humble opinion. It's not only a brilliant western, it's a brilliant movie. Fantastic story and fantastic characters with engaging dialogue that is often missing from this genre. I loved every minute of it.

I loved this movie. It's a long, epic set up, but wow, what a set up. If the second movie is as good as the first and wraps some things up...I'll probably rank this close to Dances, dare I even suggest, it may even pass it, if the second film really delivers the goods? We'll see and I'm gonna have a helluva lot of fun finding out.

Open Range is #1 by far, IMO. I liked Wyatt Earp, although it was an earnest biopic type movie with none of the style of Tombstone. Dances with Wolves is well made, but not my favorite. Yellowstone is just a soap opera set in the West. I've never seen Postman or Let him go. Hatfields & McCoys was very good, but not sure it's a "Western."
@glenwallace63142 ай бұрын
Open range deserved much more love when it came out. I rate it #2 after Dances with wolves, and darn close to #1. Dances with Wolves didn't have Robert Duval.

The Postman is a little bloated and could've shaved off 45 minutes or so. Wyatt Earp has some of the same problems and had the bad luck of coming out like 6 months after Tombstone, but The Postman and Wyatt Earp are still very solid movies. Open Range is my favorite Costner movie in general.

I like westerns but I would have to place OPEN RANGE as first. While I thought DANCES WITH WOLVES was good it wasn't great. I get bored and walk away halfway through. The same with YELLOWSTONE. I've tried getting into it, even after binge watching the first 3 seasons I said I had enough and threw in the towel. I loved SILVERADO and WYATT EARP they still pale in comparison to OPEN RANGE

Let Him Go is terrible. Costner’s character who is supposed to be a retired Montana law enforcement officer in the early 1960s behaves in no way that is realistic. I blame the director for not understanding the setting or characters and makes the entire thing unbelievable. Worst of the list by far.
