This hit a little too close to home. I'm 99% sure my County had a kids for cash scam going on with private detention centers and it resulted in teens getting 6 months on probation for things as minor as getting caught with a pack of cigs smh. God forbid they then got caught drinking or smoking pot, guaranteed at least 1-3 months in a private maximum security juvenile detention facility. Anything harder was 3-12 months in a "treatment program" and I put that in parentheses because their version of a rehab was another maximum security juvenile detention facility that they called a "90 day program" but in reality, they'd keep them as long as they wanted to and very few actually got out after 3 months. The only other juvenile treatment center I hear was a bit better where the teens were in foster care plus could earn weekend home visits after a bit so they had a lot more freedom but the key was that their parents had to actually pay a lot more for that one and they called it a 90 program too but in reality, it was usually closer to 6 months from what I heard. Now, 75% of those teens got out, graduated to H and now they're either 6 feet deep or on their 3rd-4th bid in the state pen. We're all in our 30s now but out of the friends I have left from that time, almost every single one is just hanging on. They're almost all on sub, most drink heavily and every single one shows symptoms of PTSD but very few have taken the steps to get help for it. I'm actually doing pretty well myself along with 2 friends that are finally on the right track too but they just mask the past with alcohol. Watching it all is just depressing, the system that was supposed to help dozens of my old friends was too busy doing everything they could to make as much money off of their parents as possible instead, they're the real criminals. Lot of stuff I'm leaving out, this is too long as is but that County seriously needs to be investigated, lot of people who got fired that should be in a cell themselves and one of the referees (just another word for a judge) needs to be on a certain registry for very bad men...

See a few people hating but good interview. This is real life, not everybody is going to have a story on par with "The Sopranos" or whatever, this happens to a lot of teens. I think it's outrageous, maybe I'm just old school but juvie back in my day was for dangerous criminals, teens that would probably be charged as adults today in a lot of areas, not teens that got into some fights, drank and experimented with drugs. This kid needed military school where he'd of learned some real outdoor skills and gotten in shape, not a facility full of gang members indistinguishable from an adult jail/prison. You could argue that he's doing good now and that's what he needed but there's a very real chance that he could have been successful in another strict environment that wasn't full of real criminals. Glad he's doing well but plenty of teens come out of those places with PTSD from being in that environment for so long, that's a big risk to take when there's other, better options for troubled teens in my opinion. I'm amazed that he's not using or a drunk, my kid had some friends who got locked up at the same age as this guy and most are no longer here because that's exactly how they handled the trauma or stress or whatever it was, they numbed themselves out.

It was funny when he’s talking about maybe becoming a cop, & he just abruptly ends it with “aaaand I’m glad I didn’t”. 😂

Yeah, going from being powerless that many times at such an important age for development, getting a badge and a firearm plus qualified immunity is quite the leap. I'm not saying he without a doubt would have been power tripping, could have actually been a pretty good officer but it's just hard for somebody to go from one extreme to another like that. Knew a few people in middle school that are now cops, one started at the local County jail and couldn't even get that right, was fired because somebody ended things on a camera she should have been watching but he went like an hour before he was discovered smh. Instead of working at a supermarket where she belongs, daddy was high up in the department so she just went from losing that job to moving onto a nearby County where she's now a state trooper. Forget a record as a minor, apparently you can be the worst guard in a jail, get fired for incompetence but if you know the right people, none of that matters. Those are the men and women we trust to protect and serve, anybody who thinks that they're the best of the best in 2024 is clueless! 🤦 🤡🌎

It is a really, really, really good thing that this dude never made it to a real jail, nevermind a state penn. He would have been wearing lipstick and high heels being passed around like a football in about 5 minutes. I'm glad he realizes that he is not jail material and wants to stay out of trouble. very smart. He just needs to learn that you can't please everybody all the time. Just be yourself and if someone doesn't like it, fuck em'. I wish him well
