I agree with his opinion about getting the “known trigger pullers” off the street. But disagree that ATF needs more agents to enforce gun laws. I disagree because the ATF routinely overreaches its authority and interprets the actual gun laws much differently than Congress intended when the law was passed. The word “Machine Gun” comes to mind. Also, if anyone is interested in the operation Lou talks about, it was called Operation “Thunderbolt” Lou along with U.S. Attorney Cameron Ippolito allegedly entrapped many defendants and forced them into accepting plea deals which resulted in lengthy prison sentences. Many defendants later received sentence modifications because of the secret extramarital affair the pair carried on. The whole thing was another “Black Eye” for the ATF. The ironic part is that Lou himself mentions that he got to see the really shady parts of the ATF and U.S. Attorneys Office when they were looking to destroy him. News flash Lou, That’s how they always operate!! You just found yourself on the outside looking in for once.
@Bruss813Ай бұрын
Just becuase there was an affiar, that doesn't mean the weren't guilty. It doesn't mean the defendants were entrapped. Entrapment is a legal defense that will get your case kicked if TRUE. Entrapment will get your sentence thrown out if TRUE. Nobody was entrapped.

Great Interview Jon!! But in my opinion Alcohol Tobacco Firearms should be the name of a Convenience Store. Not a law enforcement agency. Cliche, I know. Sure, they have their victories and good things they do but thanks to the politicized nature of the leadership at ATF, most agents are heavily involved in violating people’s Constitutional Rights. Specifically the 2nd Amendment. I’m still listening to the interview and I sure hope you ask him about all the guns the ATF gave the Cartels with the so called intent to “track” the guns. Meanwhile they lost track of all of them. Including .50 cal sniper rifles. I believe that only one gun was ever traced to an actual crime. Operation Fast & Furious. What a joke!!

As expected, another great sit down JB with another guy with a phenomenal story. There was an obvious overtone in this interview like many of your interviews. The overtone being the attempt to humanize criminality in a way and to a certain degree. While I understand what it is you are doing, I can tell you from personal experience what you are doing isn't a good thing, not in a world that needs law enforcement. What you are doing is understandable, I get it, but it is a terrible thing to do and I mean that. I've been on every side of the law, apart from being a member of law enforcement, but I've got many family members who are or were law enforcement. I've seen every form of crime up close and personal, from both sides of the law, and as much as I and most people really tend to despise law enforcement, it is critical that we have it, and that it continue the way as it's always been. The truth is as an example, imagine being a child and getting in trouble, you genuinely dislike your parent for putting you in timeout, or giving you a spanking, you genuinely think your teacher or principal is evil for catching you doing something you shouldn't have been doing. But, the truth is you realize when you look back on it, that it was necessary and that you were almost always in the wrong. Had those people not stopped you, imagine how that misdeed would have evolved and grown worse and worse had there not been someone there who gave enough shits about you and the idea of right and wrong to stop you. The truth is that the reason we have such a crime problem in the world today, isn't because of a lack of empathy or understanding, it's the opposite. The reason =crime is so bad is because far too many people are empathizing with the criminals far too much, and it's the criminal that is being failed for years by society leading up to their demise. It's all that empathy that allows the worst in our species to be cultivated to the terrible lengths it has arrived to. The law is said to be impartial and without emotion for a reason, and it's an obvious reason in that the law knows nothing, it's simply the law. The law feels nothing, it's the law. It's imperative that it be that way, otherwise people will fail if their emotions are involved. We are emotional beings, and as such our emotions get the best of most of us. There is no way around this, it's who we are as a species.
@markjonesatlarge52408 күн бұрын
You are ignoring the crimes which cops perpetrate on the public every single day.
@nonamenonamenoname86633 күн бұрын
@@markjonesatlarge5240 You certainly aren't wrong about that, cops sure do commit a ton of crimes indeed. So do criminals, and by the way, so does everyone else not mentioned yet. That's right, every single person, in this county, commits more than their fair share of crimes on any given day of the week. If you happen to believe, as so many other people do, that some how pointing out the fact that police are criminals quite often themselves , it's going to serve as some equalizer in the game just like all those who've come and gone trying such tactics before you, it's a losing play. There is no means of justifying, or in this case marginalizing, nor nullifying ones actions by pointing at those of another. The law doesn't work that way, people don't work that way, as a matter of fact I'm going to bet that at some point in your early years someone said to you on at least one occasion upon being informed you'd done something foolish with words that went a little something like so ":If your friends told you to jump off a bridge, would you?' Every man, woman, and child knows good and well such lessons as they are instilled by those in our lives that have some hand in molding us into decent human beings with at least some common sense, and it's due to such lessons we are therefore all educated in such things, but that's why the ability to pass blame, or avoid the responsibility of ones actions in such a way is nothing more than a mistake, even for children.

Desk people at these agencies, to include domestic and foreign intelligence operations support staff, know who they are trying to manipulate or use. The field agents, the former uniformed agents turned undercover operatives, know who's doing what and who's with what group. They ALSO know the one's that have garnered enough respect with EACH group to be left ALONE as non-participating persons. The desk people act like this is a movie. Or, they act like their sense of "right and wrong" should be forced on others or that their interpretations are grounds for the impetus demanding a choosing of sides. The guys and gals on the street, both sides, they don't do that. Desk people are sick, man.

I got set ip by the feds in 2006 and early 2007 the both meet i had a firearm. For the 1st one i got 5 years and the second one i got 20 years. And remember they dont run those concurrent they run consecutive and they gave me 25 for the weed. They gave me 50 fck years. But luckily they changed the law on how they did the gun charges. I filled a motion and got my sentence reduced. Ended up doing 15 years
