The heroes of Bricksburg are back in a new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city! I’m suprised how many people don’t mention how,,, dark and sad Rex’s story is. He’s Emmet, mentally tortured for nearly half a decade (it was confirmed that he spent four years under that dryer) in a cold, dark, isolated hellscape; until he went completely mad, broke free out of his prison, and went back in time to take revenge. Then, guess what? He dies, without getting the chance to redeem himself and truely be happy again.

I was not aware people had a problem with this movie? I love it!! And I HIGHLY reccommend watching CinemaWins' video covering this movie if you're confused. He does well at pointing out the little nuances that harken back to what's going on in the "real world" and making you think about stuff in the film you may not have picked up. In fact, I reccommend his whole channel. XD He's fantastic!!

I think part of the apprehension of The Second Part was the fear that they were chasing after what most people considered a 5-star movie and that they might screw it up - I happen to think they didn't and made a damn fine movie. One thing that might have contributed to skewed opinions is that it probably hits harder for males who grew up with younger sisters, more than any other combination of family dynamics - as one of those myself, I was able to get a lot of the early themes just fine, whereas other people may find it only comes together at the end once the story is more explicit...

The way I see it both worlds are happening at the same time. Like they exist parallel to each other but still exist in their own versions of reality. I don't think the Lego world exists just in imagination I think what happens in one has a mirror variation on the other like when Emmet appealed to Lord Business when the kid and his father were having a similar moment. Like to us their world is toys being played with whilst to them a variation of those events are playing out for real. But it seems they can break those barriers between the worlds on occasion.

I think it was partially the confusing storyline, but from what I've seen online, a lot of people were upset that it was a musical. I saw several people say that it being a musical didn't make sense and was really weird and over the top. Personally I thought this one being a musical made a lot of sense, seeing as Bianca is like a ten year old girl and it's not too surprising to think a little girl would have her imaginary story have a lot of fun pop songs in it. I mean I work as a children's party hostess and based on my experience, the girls who like pink, glitter, and princesses tend to sing their little hearts out to disney and popular childrens artists.

I always thought of this movie somewhat like the imagination scenes in toy story, the main story takes place in the imagination and the lego 'people/creatures ' exist in that story but in special circumstances can see/view the real world. I always thought Rex was somewhat of an outside influence acting of his own will to affect the story. Though haven't put much more thought into it than that to make it work though the flaws of that theory.

I was doubtful about a sequel but when I got around to seeing it I was pleasantly surprised, it's not better than the original but it's amazing and really enjoyable in its own right Also the music is much better than it has any right to be lol

The first movie worked because it was ALL happening in the boy's imagination. In this one it's kind of/sort of happening in both the girl's AND the boy's heads, and you're not really sure who's head Rex is coming from, so he doesn't really fit, and that just makes everything more and more confusing.

Well I say he's still from the boy's side as he was the one who inspired Emmet to crash everything up, but he's Emmet turned into a more tough-like guy since he was left by BOTH sides so dont really know bout dat

I see Rex as the boy's becoming a teenager and try to play "cool" "grownup" or "edgy" and making pop-culture references to seem older. He would like to the story to be more complex dark and action heavy. This is what the post apocaliptic world represents to me. Meanwhile the "brainwash" that happen with the others is just the sister not really caring about the lore behind the toys and just want to play with them.

Well my interpretation of the movie was that the sisters legos wanted to play you know with the brothers but of course as children do they kind of want to take over, as they grew I think she started to understand more about playing together and that’s what she wanted to to. Her brother on the other hand, kept The implication that she would just destroy everything. With the legos everyone didn’t want to change or be friendly with the other legos, except EmmetAnd all the people he thought were his friends were turning against him again so he thought he had to be just like them when Emmett was the answer all along which was being kind

Rex moving was in Finns imagination. The way Rex moves around and hopps unevenly is how Finn is moving him.

I hope you were able to go back later & take a look at the credits. If you thought the "Catchy Song" got stuck in your head, I think you'd find the credits song even more memorable. Also, there are some pretty cool Lego animations. The original movie also had some interesting animations for the credits too. Maybe, the Lego movies are like a paradox. Emmet's world might exist in Finn's mind, but it might be just as tangible as Finn's world. Meanwhile, Finn's world might also exist in Emmet's mind, and the two universes are dependent on each other. Events in both worlds shape each other. Maybe, Rex disappeared, because he was born out of anger & Finn lost interest in him, when he reconciled with his sister. Meanwhile there might be realities where he still exists, because of multiverse.

I feel like most problems arise from the first half feeling a bit rushed. After the intermission animation, the pacing seems to slow down a bit, and it's a lot better in my opinion (not that the first half is bad)
