Marko's Devil character is amorously pursuing Floor's Mermaid character. She is having none of it. This is a pre -Marko song. From the 2nd album ,Oceanborn. Recorded in 1998 with Tarja, guest male vocals by Tapio Wilska, and Sami Vanska on bass. No, they haven't played it recently. If we haven't mentioned it before, this show was on the Decades tour, where they played a lot of older songs. Since you loved Floor's vocal styles in this, you should try Yours Is an Empty Hope, the Wembley 2015 is the most recommended version.

This song is an absolute banger 🤘😎🤘. Kai's drumming on this is just crazy ( Kai Hahto "The Human Metronome", or in my book Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto )!!! In one interview Tuomas/Marko said that Floor has a lungs of a dolphin (That long note is 💥)!!! Plus, she holds the last note (A4) of Nightwish - Ad Astra for 17 seconds (10/6/2022 Sweden Festival). If this wasn't impressive enough, I can also add than now she's just one, I mean ONE, second short from equaling Pavarotti's longest belt ever recorded. So,.... Nuff Said !!!! NWSU 🤘😎🤘

Waking up with a Nightwish-high and your Nightwish-smile is so much fun! Hell, yeah! Another absolute banger, but I have to disappoint you. They don't play this one anymore without Marko. There are a few songs where Floor sings his part in the current tour. And she does that amazing, but that's no surprise. My favorite Nightwish song is "Planet Hell" and then particularly the current tour-version, where Floor does her and Marko's part. You'll love that one too!

Jinger!!! That song is an overwhelming train without brakes... the power imposed by the battery is devastating, and the musicality slides without limits, in addition to telling a fascinating story! Just last night, I learned that a dive into non-biblical ancient sources (Book of Enoch, Book of Giants, Book of Jubilee, and Genesis B) reveals strong ties between the devil, the nephilim, and the human mothers of the nephilim, cursed as sirens of the deep, dark ocean. Much like Dante's Divine Comedy, these books may have been elaborate Enoch fan fiction tied loosely to Genesis, or Genesis may have been written with a brief summary of Enoch's tales already in mind as part of Israel's origin story. Either way, I freshly realized again just how deep Tuomas goes with his lyrics! Thanks for a great, interestingly-timed start to my day!

Rocked my world, but there's a "but" in my view: this was before Nightwish leaned to not put every good idea to a single song. Not a criticism, just an observation, I enjoyed the song immensely. Floor and Marco set the mood above that dirty raspy rhythm guitar of Emppu's. And my special mention goes to Kai Hahto the drummer, who executes the drumline like it was nothing! There are personal preferences between the two drummers*, but mine is Kai (perhaps too clean and clinical for some tastes, but just perfect for me). *I Know Jukka performed through rampant insomnia and terrible migraines, I would have thrown in the towel way before he did. But he's a performer and a musician, in that profession tapping out is sacrilege. Kudos to Jukka for all the years, your showmanship was second to none, and the drumming superb, And maybe the drum skins can avoid another beating to within inches of their lives😃.

It's so depressing with the beach gone and houses falling into the ocean and hotels and condos being evacuated because the structures are unsafe. That's a classic, from the early days of the band with Tarja, and it even predates Marco. Floor handles it well, of course. By the way, I had my Jinjer concert last night, with P.O.D., Vended, and Space of Variations. My hearing may take a day or two to fully recover, my rib cage was vibrating from the bass players all night, and Tatiana was even more attractive in person, which I didn't think possible. I'm exhausted but happy.

As far as them still playing this.. Probably not unless they bring in a male vocalist, I don't think Troy could pull that off. He's more of a gnome than a demon lol. BTW, before they had Marco, these heavy male roles were filled by Tuomas's friend Wilksa in the studio and on stage. You can find the Tarja and Wilksa version live on From Wishes to Eternity :) And yeah, the old stuff was fun.

I went in with huge expectations of pure brilliance last night and still they blew my puny little mind. Got watery eyes during GLS and sleeping sun and then shoemaker moved me to tears completely. Oh and Tribal is a monster track live!@@JyngerSlapz

The album version was unremarkable performance-wise. Tapio Wilska just didn't have it and Tarja could not do those glissandi or the vocal variation (the grit you mentioned for example). Live, after Marko joined, I haven't yet got a video for but Tarja still would have done something similar to the album I imagine. I'll see of I can find one as, after Floor and Marco reimagined ot for the Decades tour (which this is from) it rapidly rose to number 4 in my favourites. Obviously the music was there before but the Marco/Floor partnership brought to light the hidden genius behind the writing, for me. The drumming in this is madness - those missed beats when Floor does the slightly off-beat vocal onset, for example, but throughout, in fact. No, it is not currently performed. It was played a lot on the Summer of Wilderness and Oceanborn tours, back in 1999 but then dropped out (unsurprisingly given my previous comments) until this Decades tour in 2018/19. It was played 82 times in that tour, but sadly dropped again for the current tour. Well, there are so many great songs, they can't keep playing all the old ones or they couldn't do the new material without extending the concerts to 4 hours! And there are songs Tuomas has said he can't imagine performing again since Marco left (though that may, hopefully, change at some time).
