K&N has always seemed good to me, i don't like their Performance Air filters Due to them allowing more "Dust" in the Engine, But gives better "Air Flow" ofcourse. I'd rather keep my Rings and Valves in good condition than get 5HP to 10HP boost

If 6000 miles wears out motor oil and my lawn tractor hour meter times out at 100 hours. Is 60 mph X 100 hours the same? My generators oil at 100 hours looks darker than my 3000 mile car oil with a filter. Tractor hour meters go how long with a filter? Hmm!???!

@elihernandez3303 жыл бұрын
@@jerryjeromehawkins1712 yeah I think I heard of that. I believe they actually made the synthetic blend media actually better but they removed the wire backing and kept the same metal caps so they kind of did downgrade it but they also claim to have improved the sub 20 microphone filtering efficiency which in reality is what actually matters. the engine doesn't care about wire backing and caps as long as it just seals it
@jerryjeromehawkins17123 жыл бұрын
@@elihernandez330 hey Eli. That's good news then. I've been using nothing but the Fram ultra along with Pennzoil platinum on my 5.0 for the past 5 years... I refuse to use anything else, lol. 🍻
@elihernandez3303 жыл бұрын
@@jerryjeromehawkins1712 although it may seem like the Fram Ultra and titanium got downgraded it's really not even a big deal. the wire backing was just a luxury item that wasn't really needed in non extreme racing applications and having better 5 10 and 15 micron filtering efficiency does reduce engine where further so that's really what matters the mos. although I do wish you would have lowered the price by a dollar even then it's still the cheapest ultra high filtering efficiency filter you can buy and it has metal caps and a strong core so I wouldn't be afraid. Besides more expensive oil filters don't even have wire backing yet people still think they're better.

@@jerryjeromehawkins1712 Pennzoil Platinum is very good, but Quaker State Full Synthetic has a higher oil film strength of over 150,000 psi. Oil film strength is the most important factor of a motor oil.

Honestly at the end of the day the original equipment filter is going to be the best safest one to use that came on the vehicle from the dealership or from the factory The problem that nobody pays attention to is the fact that you have to make sure the aftermarket filter bypass rate is the same as the original equipment or better

Very interesting. Since people would more tend to muscle the filter on the car I would recommend the beefier threads. And, after someone over tightens the can its nice to to have a tough can and plate that will take the extra force to yank it off. This video explains why some filters crushed so easily when trying to remove.

I'll wager Fram made all of the filters, with the flat bypass spring. Think about it there likely isn't a factory for every brand of filter. Forty years ago I sold Napa parts, Wix made their filters. Later I sold Wix filters for a truck parts wholesaler. Wix was the largest filter mfg, at the time. Then there were Baldwin, Purolator, Fram, and Hastings. K&N came along with their Hi-Perf air filters. However, those oil filters look strikingly similar to the Fram & Wix. Hmm
