I chose the Purolator Boss for my 2022 Duramax application. Beware, Advanced Auto Parts is selling 8 year old filters. I purchased from a local store and online and got the same filters. I verified the DOM with Purolator and they advised the filters were "expired" due to their age. Prior to 2020 the Duramax took a different filter due to a thread change. So the new thread helped Purolator clear old inventory that now works for the D-Max. I'll stay away from both organizations moving forward.

They all do the same thing. They remove the larger engine damaging abrasives from the full flow of oil to the engine.the smaller engine wearing abrasives and sludge keep building up in the oil until you drain it or install a depth bypass filter that can clean oil. I started using filters that clean oil in 1963 with a Frantz oil cleaner. Probably the best one in production now is the Australian Jackmaster. Ive probably drained my oil a dozen times in the last 60 years.

@@johnqpublic2949 All I am saying is according to Ascent Filtration testing Fram Ultra (OG) had excellent results, (Don't know about the new Fram Ultra) and Royal Purple came in a close second. Purolator probably doesn't try to get that type of tiny filtering, they couldn't get 20,000 miles on them I wouldn't imagine, be in bypass alot long before then probably. Yea nothing wrong with Fram, the Orange can has protected cars for billions of miles. One of the best advertising campaigns in history, with the "pay me now, or pay me later" slogan in the 80s I think it was. Probably before some on here's time though!. Good info you provided there...Thanx

@@johnqpublic2949 No worries and thanks for the info. I like Purolator filters, I have a Purolator One in my stash waiting to be put on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I think the Purolator Boss is into dirt capturing ability over a period of time to reach that 20,000 mile interval (or 15,000 according to the box). Filtering is very important to me. I just wish all companies made filters with dirt capturing and high efficiency filtration in mind for an affordable price (a pipe dream I know).

Copied/pasted from another of your Boss reviews: Impressed with video and, in particular, the apparent quality of the Boss. (Royal Purple not available locally) I just changed oil/filter at 6,000 miles and sent sample in to Blackstone. I'll do it again after 6,000 miles with the Boss. Same oil and everything else. I will be interested to see if the results using the Boss are any different from results with Tokyo Roki OEM filter used previously. I suspect no difference will be seen but....I will await the results...which will take another six months with my driving pattern. I may also kick myself for spending $80 on Blackstone when the same money would have paid for two complete changes! (2018 Subaru 3.6R, now at 70,000)
