K-POP Newbie reacts to ATEEZ Music Videos! 'Treasure' / 'Say my Name' / 'Hala Hala' Crazy Haul!

Can you imagine they almost debuted with Hala Hala? It was their first comeback, 3 months after debut but they were considering it for a debut song. You are saying that they give seasoned professionals there (and I agree!) but they were just real monster rookies. Also it's hella funny to hear "now I just need to see them live" since Ateez are considered THE group of live performances. Since everyone else already recommending Coachella live I raise you with Halazia and Cyberpunk! Like don't get me wrong, almost any kpop group knows how to do a good live, I have been here over 10 years and it's rare to find a group that is not good live. But they are on an entire different level. Live singing always yes but also charisma and energy is absolutely bonkers!

They sing live. Their Killing Voice performance was live vocals / hot mikes. The back track was only heard by the viewers and in the guys’ earpieces. All the crew and camera people heard in the studio was their voices. Dingo released a clip of them singing and it sounds pure like a cappella. It’s insane. They are BEASTS during live performances. If you can find their Coachella performance, esp. week 2, I highly recommend it. They really are all rounders. They can SING, they started out as a dance crew, and you could put them out on a runway like yesterday. They are no joke. No one out there is doing it like them. Thanks for reacting to Ateez! This is right at the beginning of their career, friend. Def don't skip Promise, it's one of my favorites! Even now. It's a shame they really can't perform it regularly anymore as it's out of San's range now. But it's so them. What's so funny is that the MVs you reacted to are literally at the beginning of their career. Treasure/Pirate King were their debut songs and Say My Name/HALA HALA was their very first comeback - literally just a couple of months after they debuted. They've been at this caliber from the very beginning and have only gotten better. Their mics are always on and they might even fight you if you suggest otherwise. You should check out their Coachella 2024 performance to get a taste of what live ATEEZ is really like. They really do leave their hearts on the stage every time they perform.

Ateez has a story that spans across their music, music videos, their teasers, and their live performances. Say My Name, though it was very early on into their career (literally their first comeback), introduced Ateez's alter ego/ dopplegangers from another world called Halateez. They're recognized by the black outfits and fedoras with masks covering their faces and you'll see more of them as you go on watching their videos and live performances (hopefully you will!) They even appear in the Answer mv if you plan on checking that out!

As for how the lyrics fit into the music video, it again has to do with their story. Without spoiling the story, the song is basically them saying call on me, and i'll be there no matter the circumstances; together we'll make it. The lyrics mention the moon, which is another element you'll notice in their songs and music videos a lot. My favorite part is this little easter egg in Hongjoong's rap at 10:16 where he purposely spells out Ateez with the first letter of each line.

Ateez tossed out specific roles a while ago, so while all of them have something they lean towards being the best at, they're all actually good at everything. Or as Hongjoong, their captain and the G Dragon Jr one you like said once, "I'm good at all positions" - it was way funnier when he said it though. Jongho is the high note guy most known for his vocals, but he's a killer dancer. San has the prettiest falsetto in kpop but is also known for his crazy performance skills. Seonghwa the really beautiful model looking one, is a vocalist and dancer and rapper as well. Hongjoong and Mingi are the main rappers, but they've been experimenting with other members handling rap parts as well. It's one of their strengths because it really lets them mix things up constantly. And to speak to your comment about how it seems like Ateez perform like they're seasoned - HALA HALA was released 4 months after they debuted. This is baby Ateez lol

Three of my favorite songs. Say My Name and HALA HALA are when we start getting into the lore as part of the Fever series. Ateez in the black outfits are the Black Pirates from World Z. After HALA HALA came out Atiny started calling them Halateez and the name stuck. They are Ateez’s alter ego’s from another dimension (World Z). The lore is really cool. But it would take me forever to type it all out. Lol. HALA HALA live is crazy. San has broken numerous mics performing it. They do sing live.

You really need to watch their lives - there is a reason why they are widely known as 'performance kings'! I'd recommend the performances they did for a TV show/competition between bands called Kingdom - not only are they live, but they were also recorded all in one take (!!). Those are absolutely insane. My favourite: Symphony No.9 “From The Wonderland. If you have time, you can watch the whole show online - you'll get some extra insight into the way they operate and prepare their performances.

Pirate King and Treasure were filmed at the same time in Morocco for their debut as double title tracks. They were both filmed in tourist attractions and places they could film for free because KQ was such a small company and they didn't really have the money to spend on sets. Their career started from scratch with pennies to their name in Morocco, which is why the festival they headlined at this summer, Mawazine, was so special. Mawazine is the 2nd or 3rd biggest music festival in the entire world, and you can only perform by invitation from the King of Morocco himself. They started in Morocco in rags, and they returned this year in riches to perform again and pay homage back to their beginning. More than 130,000 people showed up to watch their performance at Mawazine too.

Missed your ateez reactions so much 🥹 you’re in for such a treat when you watch their live performances (and I hope you get a chance to experience them live too - it’s unreal). There are so many good ones - kcon LA 2022 is what made me an atiny and that’s on KZbin! But there are so many good ones to choose from. But highly recommend diversifying and including something from a concert as well in addition to showcases at festivals and music show performances. You definitely have to check out a live performance! Ateez are even better live and are insane performers, they go hard. As for a MV recommendation I love Deja Vu, Halazia, It's Not Okay. Some sub-group MV that are also really good - MATZ & It's You. Their dance practices are really good too - I think Ateez is one of the best dance groups in Kpop right now.

It was a big risk to make a video that doesn't have the "beauty" shots that are so prevalent in k-pop, especially with a group that's like, 100% visuals. 21:59 Okay, so yeah, these videos get you started into ATEEZ lore. First, let me say that you should start with watching Treasure's twin debut release, Pirate King, which they performed on KV, but which didn't get written in English. :) Pirate King is the introduction of ATEEZ as pirates, first and foremost. What we see of the lore here is the introduction of the "black pirates," called HalaTEEZ because of their first making their appearance here in Hala Hala (which actually was released before Say My Name). They are ATEEZ from another dimension, which is why you see the mask removal being the member. Now, the further into the lore you get, the more you realize that HalaTEEZ has come to ATEEZ to get them to help fight a war in Universe Z, which is where all the most recent videos (Bouncy, Halazia, Crazy Form, etc.) take place. How they got there happens in other videos, so if you're trying to follow the lore, you'll want to go through things chronologically. If you don't care about the lore right now (and you don't have to in order to enjoy them!) then I'd say pick any MV you haven't seen yet, because they're all bangers. Thank you so much for playing them, enjoying them, and sharing your enjoyment. And yeah, they're all perfect for literally no reason. While they originally had defined roles, those have blurred around the edges so much that we've seen all members do all things, even if only as a joke (like Jongho, the amazing main vocal and youngest) rapping. At this point, the ace factor is 100% in the group, but we still keep seeing them show hidden talents, like Hong Joong playing electric guitar for the intro to Guerrilla live, or Seonghwa playing piano. They perform live often and best, but YT will block most of the live shows unless you cover video (cool with that) slightly. I'd recommend Coachella because there are numerous cam versions from it. Also, anything on the KQ or ATEEZ site proper, like Win (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3fXqHedoN-SY6c) is outstanding.
