Supplementary video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHSqc2Sqmq2tqK8 1/30/20 Update: Cheshir (Lisa’s choreographer) *was* following Cierra prior to the incident, but Cierra only followed her back *when* the issue happened to privately dm her about it. Honestly, in my opinion Jessi’s whole brand, vibe, aesthetic, her rapping always felt so forced. she plays the stereotype of the “aggressive” black woman (because looking like black woman is what she’s trying to be) on these Korean shows and they eat it up. I could never vibe with. She gives me the vibe or someone that eats up black culture for profit but then would also say “I don’t see colour”

I agree there is always Koreans making it seem like they are the victim which is disgusting they will usually say their culture is being mocked or people is copying them when in reality they keep copying us I feel bad for their racist culture You can’t even walk in Korea what out Koreans staring at you or getting pictures took in without your consent or permission and always have to walk by a non-color person in Korea staring at you awkwardly in really like they don’t know who you are and I realize it is all always K-pop groups that get mixed up in the black culture community There been for too many accidents with K-pop idols sing the N-word and use it as a label which is absolutely not ok but their fans always lit it slid just because they might be famous there is a big difference of copying Black people and not copying Black people What is clear as day they do that all the time Koreans make up excuses about how they group at New York or some shit to victimless their selves and defender cells as if they did not have no problem with that at all they need serious help with that toxic community they have and it’s always dumb shit like you had to fit in the Korean beauty standards you have to be Korean to be a K-pop idol without getting judged or having to fit in usually people say you can be a black K-pop idol whenever because it’s not too late but it’s still the principle you are going to get judged anyway by people who are usually used to seeing Korean groups in not black group Black girls should easily be accepted into Korean communities or culture or dances without being Reddit called or criticized by Asians or white people who think they are copying Korean cultures there is Asians/Korean people always getting tans to look more black but it’s completely ignored and not evaded it by big fan basis they choose to ignore it which is very unacceptable instead of following up on the actions that they choose to manner you will still support that Korean person that copied a black person and act like it’s all fun and games nothing is wrong we will ignore this has not been going on for years totally there is usually asian people making videos about how we are copying them or each way possible to make it seem like we are a bad race When in General they are generally the main for racism and annoying the problem with fan bases they have and not taking control

Kpop from the beginning has a lot of the time been about copying and thinking there would be no consequences because it was aimed at a seperate Korean market, but now that they are trying to expand into the Western market they're running into problems and it's catching up with them

This is the comment. Also, when they enter the Western Market, they are competing against actual black people who perform hip-hop/r&b. You HAVE been black fishing LMAONMSOUDHwuoa Imagine labeling your fans who just wanna open your eyes and tell you the clear truth about yourself as haters just cause you can't take some constructive criticism. THIS REMINDS ME of that situation with Jackson when he was called out for that hair style and people were offended and he called his own fans haters too. Tbh I'm getting tired of this shit. Why is it so hard for idols to own up to their mistakes? It's literally their main defense mechanism to call anyone who tells them the harsh truth "haters." They need to accept that not every fan of theirs is always gonna let their insensitive actions slide. Raising awareness to an idols insensitive actions DOES NOT make somebody a hater.

KPOP WAS BUILT OFF OF BLACK CULTURE!!! KPOP WAS BUILT OFF OF BLACK CULTURE!! The biggest issue is that Kpop stans as well as many Koreans themselves don’t want to acknowledge that there wouldn’t be a “ Kpop “ without BLACK CULTURE !!! Kpop is & was LITERALLY built off of copying black culture. JYP HIMSELF & several other older artist , producers , entertainment heads have stated this but yet a HUGE part of the Kpop community doesn’t acknowledge it . The “ originators “ & “ creators “ of Kpop have came out several times saying they literally copied black culture from the dancing , music , flow , clothing , & hairstyles. Y’all act like majority of Kpop idols & groups that debut weren’t all doing the “ backwards hat , big chains , dark eyeliner makeup , ( hood ) street wear “ when they came out BTS even did it . There’s a big lack of conversations happening regarding this issue & it’s annoying from the fans to the actual idols EVERYONE can educate themselves to have a conversation about it but they don’t instead we get “ haters / race cards / clout “ assumptions thrown at us . Koreans themselves tend to be very racist & judgmental towards black people , as well as making it a running joke when someone who is Asian & “ tanned “ they are the butt of the joke because of their skin, yet it’s all cool to copy & benefit off of the same people they look down upon or treat different STRICTLY because of their skin . There isn’t an excuse & there hasn’t been for years now I’m tired of hearing how Korea is conservative & aren’t educated when they take the time to research how to copy black culture . I myself am a fan of Kpop but I acknowledge that this conversation doesn’t happen enough but that is exactly why I Stan certain idols & groups . Because I seen several idols make the effort to educate themselves & a lot of them do it behind the scenes as far as donating & actively listening to learn ,

When I heard "Switch to Me", I thought I was crazy it sounded so much like Bobby Brown's "Every little step" then I played the song in front of parents. Their faces were priceless, they were so confused.🤣🤣 But on a serious note, "Switch to me" is very similar, it is a copy even down to the dance.

Lisa’s lifestyle is majorly based on black culture like 🤷🏾‍♀️ I’m just learning about kpop and when it comes to Lisa black stans definitely turn a blind eye and make excuses for her as for Jessi the little said about her the better, it could also be because she grew up in the states

The problem is ppl do not want to acknowledge that there is an issue - ADMIT IT, DEAL and FIX....give credit and keep it moving. I really dislike when ppl just brush it off or go with " I am a POC or Asian and I dont think...." U DO NOT REPRESENT AN ENTIRE GROUP OF PPL - SIT DOWN !!!! Having YES ppl around you as an artist does not help either - you are in this bubble but at some point, ppl need to realize idols are flawed as well - human. Some will take the time and educate themselves, others will call it haters vs taking a step back from their feelings and really seeing it for what it is. Artist get defensive - their feelings hurt especially when they feel they are not doing it maliciously or coming from a bad place but you have to go into history and that is BEYOND your butt hurt. GIVE THE FN CREDIT or "inspired by", it can be that simple - so problematic !

cierra really has nothing to apologize for.. it’s the toxic blinks that came after her in the first place when it was her choreography that was stolen.. also i am VERY tired of black artists being ripped off and k-pop stans attacking the black artist rather than admitting that their faves copied.

Lmao Jessi STAY blackfishing. And I'm tired of all these non Black celebrities trying to say "oh well I'm from NY and that's how we all talk". Bro I'm also from NY and that's a boldface lie. There are multiple accents in NY with some similarities (ie, how we pronounce certain words) but the accent that Jessi is trying to copy is straight up only natural found in Black NYers. Besides that... Jessi's not even from NY. She's Korean American from a white New Jersey suburb. Plus the way she used AAVE is so awkward and disingenuous. Kpop has brought me a lot of joy but the increased awareness of it's serious issues with culture appropriation and antiBlackness has made it that I'm not sure where I stand with it anymore, even when it comes to my favs. We really can't have shit. Anyway, stan Fatou.

I'm a blink and I held Lisa's choreographer completely accountable. Mind you, I said Lisa's choreographer, NOT LISA. As you guys can see from Bp Dairies Lisa comes to her choreographer and the choreographer already has the choreo ready , not looking at any videos nothing just the choreographer teaching Lisa. I am not black but is unfair because of this choreographer, a black female choreographer may have had their choreo stolen. I know it was decided between them but Cheshir stayed SILENT while Lisa was getting all the hate from outsiders and kpop fans, and the choreographer hate from blinks. The situation was alll unfair and the responsable one (Cheshir) was nowhere to be found.

Jessi is really denying these allegations WHILE TALKING IN A BLACCENT (Sorry if I'm wrong, I'm not black, but the way she moves her hands and uses words like 'y'all' seems like appropriation to me). As for blinks, I laughed at the part where you said they'd rather die than admit it, they really are like that... I used to be a blink until Lisa sat on a chair rapping and showing the finger while my God's idol lay on the floor and blinks told me and my god to fuck ourselves when we spoke up against it.🤡🤡

Wtf, how come I didn't know about the lilidilm choreo being stolen? Blinks must have really hushed the situation because it should have a big issue. Till this date, Lisa's video is reacted to and praised and there is no credit given? Why did fans behave so toxically when Lisa isn't even the person in question. I am sorry, but sometimes fans make their idols look bad. The dislikes on the original video hurt me. And the fact that YG's choreographer denied knowing about the original choreographer is so stupid. She obviously knows her and has seen her videos. I understand how some moves can be common across choreographies but this was blatantly ripped off. I am so pissed. Cierra is the original creator and deserved respect. The fact that fans think that every person wants to be/copy their idols is so fucking stupid.
