terry haggerty is so great as a complentary guitarist here. his rhythmic playing is so freaking unmistakably killer. great move to invite him to the band. combined with bobby and alan is just thrilling...

Wow, epic. I had seen Kimock a number of times with Zero, but this was my first time seeing KVHW. And it was such a synchronistic day for me. I had literally moved to Humboldt County that day, and was staying out on the Jetty at one of my friend's houses until I could find a place. He totally kept it secret that Kimock was playing like 5 minutes from his house. I pulled in early in the morning after driving all the way from Chicago for 3 days. Straight to his couch and a bong rip of DMT. Welcome to your new home buddy. Got some rest. Met some of the crew he had been hanging with since he moved there a few months earlier, and we went to the square to check out the scene. People were just showing up from Eugene since the band had just played McKenzie which we heard was a barn burner. Tixs were to be had, and that night was my first night as a new resident of Arcata, and my first of many Cafe Tomo concerts. Super sick show with Terry Hagerty. Think Ray was still mending his busted hand. Someone who ended up being one of my good friends actually ran sound at Tomos, but wouldn't meet him for another 4 years or so. I ended up getting all of the SBD recordings of all the bands from the time it was open till it closed. Great times back then trading DATs still. I just remember that everyone was so welcoming to me at that show, and it is something that few people get to experience. What an introduction to what would be a rollercoaster of life from that night on in The County. Ended up moving to SF in 2006 because my girl scored a biolab job, but I kept gardening away. Thanks for the upload. I can't say I have seen this yet. Sweet!

I was at that show also. Any chance I could get a copy in any form? I’d pay any costs incurred. Anyway, thought I’d give it a try. Thanks!😊

KVHK - I did this whole west coast May tour with my friend Selina. Steve had just played the Phil and Phriends shows at the Warfield a month before this, and two weeks after that (and two weeks before this recording) Ray had started to take unexpected leave from the band. I'm not suggesting that was a good thing for the band, but April and May 1999 were (and continue to be) some of my favorite months of music. 01:07:00 is where New Africa starts. This whole show is wonderful but I keep coming back to this. Just pure joy. .

Amen! I saw most of those shows as well! It was such a magical time. The show at Brookdale Lodge was always my favorite! Peace

That's not Africa; it's Kissin the Boo Boo. Still great, though.

At the 1:07 pt, it’s definitely Kissin the Boo Boo. Not worth arguing about, though. There are more important things in life.
